¹² He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.

⁴ For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, their poison drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of +God are arrayed against me.

²⁰ Have I sinned, what do I unto thee, thou Observer of men? Why hast thou set me as an object of assault for thee, so that I am become a burden to myself?

¹² I was at rest, but he hath shattered me; he hath taken me by the neck and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark. ¹³ His arrows encompass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground.

¹² If one turn not, he will sharpen his sword; he hath bent his bow and made it ready, ¹³ And he hath prepared for him instruments of death; his arrows hath he made burning.

² For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand cometh down upon me.

⁴ He hath bent his bow like an enemy; he stood with his right hand as an adversary, and hath slain all that was pleasant to the eye: in the tent of the daughter of Zion, he hath poured out his fury like fire.
