¹⁹ Has not Moses given you the law, and no one of you practises the law? Why do ye seek to kill me?

² And let Moses alone come near Jehovah; but they shall not come near; neither shall the people go up with him. ³ And Moses came and told the people all the words of Jehovah, and all the judgments; and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words that Jehovah has said will we do!

¹⁷ Ye shall not respect persons in judgment: ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man, for the judgment is God`s; and the matter that is too hard for you shall ye bring to me, that I may hear it.

⁴ Moses commanded us a law, The inheritance of the congregation of Jacob.

¹ Why are the nations in tumultuous agitation, and [why] do the peoples meditate a vain thing? ² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the princes plot together, against Jehovah and against his anointed: ³ Let us break their bonds asunder, and cast away their cords from us! ⁴ He that dwelleth in the heavens shall laugh, the Lord shall have them in derision. ⁵ Then will he speak to them in his anger, and in his fierce displeasure will he terrify them: ⁶ And *I* have anointed my king upon Zion, the hill of my holiness.

¹⁴ But the Pharisees, having gone out, took counsel against him, how they might destroy him.

³⁸ But the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him and possess his inheritance.

² saying, The scribes and the Pharisees have set themselves down in Moses` seat: ³ all things therefore, whatever they may tell you, do and keep. But do not after their works, for they say and do not, ⁴ but bind burdens heavy and hard to bear, and lay them on the shoulders of men, but will not move them with their finger.

⁴ And he says to them, Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill? But they were silent.

⁶ And the Pharisees going out straightway with the Herodians took counsel against him, how they might destroy him.

¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses: grace and truth subsists through Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ And for this the Jews persecuted Jesus [and sought to kill him], because he had done these things on sabbath.

¹⁸ For this therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he had not only violated the sabbath, but also said that God was his own Father, making himself equal with God.

⁴⁵ Think not that I will accuse you to the Father: there is [one] who accuses you, Moses, on whom ye trust;

¹ And after these things Jesus walked in Galilee, for he would not walk in Judaea, because the Jews sought to kill him.

²⁵ Some therefore of those of Jerusalem said, Is not this he whom they seek to kill?

²⁸ They railed at him, and said, Thou art his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses. ²⁹ We know that God spoke to Moses; but [as to] this [man], we know not whence he is.

³¹ The Jews therefore again took stones that they might stone him. ³² Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewn you of my Father; for which work of them do ye stone me?

³⁹ They sought therefore again to take him; and he went away from out of their hand

⁵³ From that day therefore they took counsel that they might kill him.

³⁸ This is he who was in the assembly in the wilderness, with the angel who spoke to him in the mount Sinai, and with our fathers; who received living oracles to give to us;

¹² For as many as have sinned without law shall perish also without law; and as many as have sinned under law shall be judged by law, ¹³ (for not the hearers of the law [are] just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

¹⁷ But if *thou* art named a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast in God, ¹⁸ and knowest the will, and discerningly approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law; ¹⁹ and hast confidence that thou thyself art a leader of the blind, a light of those who [are] in darkness, ²⁰ an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having the form of knowledge and of truth in the law: ²¹ thou then that teachest another, dost thou not teach thyself? thou that preachest not to steal, dost thou steal? ²² thou that sayest [man should] not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? ²³ thou who boastest in law, dost thou by transgression of the law dishonour God? ²⁴ For the name of God is blasphemed on your account among the nations, according as it is written. ²⁵ For circumcision indeed profits if thou keep [the] law; but if thou be a law-transgressor, thy circumcision is become uncircumcision. ²⁶ If therefore the uncircumcision keep the requirements of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be reckoned for circumcision, ²⁷ and uncircumcision by nature, fulfilling the law, judge thee, who, with letter and circumcision, [art] a law-transgressor? ²⁸ For he is not a Jew who [is] one outwardly, neither that circumcision which is outward in flesh; ²⁹ but he [is] a Jew [who is so] inwardly; and circumcision, of the heart, in spirit, not in letter; whose praise [is] not of men, but of God.

¹⁰ according as it is written, There is not a righteous [man], not even one; ¹¹ there is not the [man] that understands, there is not one that seeks after God. ¹² All have gone out of the way, they have together become unprofitable; there is not one that practises goodness, there is not so much as one: ¹³ their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; asps` poison [is] under their lips: ¹⁴ whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; ¹⁵ swift their feet to shed blood; ¹⁶ ruin and misery [are] in their ways, ¹⁷ and way of peace they have not known: ¹⁸ there is no fear of God before their eyes. ¹⁹ Now we know that whatever the things the law says, it speaks to those under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world be under judgment to God. ²⁰ Wherefore by works of law no flesh shall be justified before him; for by law [is] knowledge of sin. ²¹ But now without law righteousness of God is manifested, borne witness to by the law and the prophets; ²² righteousness of God by faith of Jesus Christ towards all, and upon all those who believe: for there is no difference; ²³ for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

¹⁹ Why then the law? It was added for the sake of transgressions, until the seed came to whom the promise was made, ordained through angels in [the] hand of a mediator.

¹³ For neither do they that are circumcised themselves keep the law; but they wish you to be circumcised, that they may boast in your flesh.

³ For *he* has been counted worthy of greater glory than Moses, by how much he that has built it has more honour than the house. ⁴ For every house is built by some one; but he who has built all things [is] God. ⁵ And Moses indeed [was] faithful in all his house, as a ministering servant, for a testimony of the things to be spoken after;
