¹⁵ Then all the men who knew that their wives burned incense to other gods, and all the women who stood by, a great assemblage, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,

⁴ Before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, from the youngest to the oldest -- all the people from every quarter.

²⁶ Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? Yet among the many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel; but even him did foreign wives cause to sin.

²¹ Hand for hand! an evil [man] shall not be held innocent; but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

⁵ Why should ye be smitten any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

¹ Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broadways thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be [any] that doeth justice, that seeketh fidelity; and I will pardon it. ² And if they say, [As] Jehovah liveth! surely they swear falsely. ³ Jehovah, are not thine eyes upon fidelity? Thou hast smitten them, but they are not sore; thou hast consumed them, they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return. ⁴ And I said, Surely these are the wretched ones, they are foolish; for they know not the way of Jehovah, the judgment of their God. ⁵ I will go unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they know the way of Jehovah, the judgment of their God; but these have altogether broken the yoke, have burst the bonds.

¹³ Enter in through the narrow gate, for wide the gate and broad the way that leads to destruction, and many are they who enter in through it.

¹ But there were false prophets also among the people, as there shall be also among you false teachers, who shall bring in by the bye destructive heresies, and deny the master that bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction; ² and many shall follow their dissolute ways, through whom the way of the truth shall be blasphemed.
