And he said, Behold that which has been reserved! set it before thee, eat; for against the set time has it been kept for thee, since I said, I will invite the people. So Saul ate with Samuel that day.

²² And David left the things he was carrying in the hand of the keeper of the baggage, and ran into the ranks, and came and saluted his brethren.

⁵ Then David sent out ten young men; and David said to the young men, Go up to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and greet him in my name. ⁶ And thus shall ye say: Long life [to thee]! and peace be to thee, and peace be to thy house, and peace be to all that thou hast!

¹¹ And shall I take my bread, and my water, and my flesh which I have killed for my shearers, and give [it] to men whom I know not whence they are?

²⁷ And now this blessing which thy bondmaid has brought to my lord, let it be given to the young men that follow my lord.

² And it came to pass on the third day, that behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his garments rent, and earth upon his head; and as soon as he came to David, he fell to the earth and did obeisance.

¹³ And he said, Well, I will make a covenant with thee; only I require one thing of thee, that is, Thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal Saul`s daughter, when thou comest to see my face.

⁸ And David said to Urijah, Go down to thy house and wash thy feet. And Urijah departed out of the king`s house, and there followed him presents from the king.

⁴ And the woman of Tekoah spoke to the king, and she fell on her face to the ground and did obeisance, and said, Save, O king!

²⁴ And the king said, Let him turn to his own house, and let him not see my face. And Absalom withdrew to his own house, and saw not the king`s face.

²⁸ So Absalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem, and did not see the king`s face.

³² And Absalom said to Joab, Behold, I sent to thee, saying, Come hither, that I may send thee to the king, to say, Why am I come from Geshur? it would have been better for me to be there still. And now let me see the king`s face; and if there be iniquity in me, let him slay me.

¹⁶ And Bathsheba bowed and did obeisance to the king. And the king said, What wouldest thou?

²¹ Otherwise it shall come to pass when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be counted offenders.

²⁶ Then spoke the woman whose was the living child to the king, for her bowels yearned over her son, and she said, Ah, my lord! give her the living child, and in no wise put it to death. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine; divide it.

²¹ And Solomon ruled over all kingdoms from the river to the land of the Philistines, and as far as the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

¹⁵ besides what [came] by the dealers, and by the traffic of the merchants, and by all the kings of Arabia, and by the governors of the country.

²⁵ And they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and clothing, and armour, and spices, horses and mules, a rate year by year.

¹⁹ There is a league between me and thee, [as] between my father and thy father; behold, I send thee a present of silver and gold: go, break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.

⁴ If we say, Let us enter into the city, the famine is in the city, and we shall die there; and if we abide here, we shall die. And now come, let us fall away to the camp of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they put us to death, we shall but die.

¹³ And one of his servants answered and said, Let some one take, I pray thee, five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city (behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it: behold, they are even as all the multitude of the Israelites that have perished), and let us send and see.

⁸ And the king said to Hazael, Take a present in thy hand, and go, meet the man of God, and inquire of Jehovah by him, saying, Shall I recover from this disease?

⁸ And Ahaz took the silver and the gold that was found in the house of Jehovah, and in the treasures of the king`s house, and sent it [as] a present to the king of Assyria.

¹² At that time Berodach-Baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent a letter and a present to Hezekiah, for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.

¹⁸ And the Spirit came upon Amasai, the chief of the captains, [and he said,] Thine [are we], David, And with thee, thou son of Jesse: Peace, peace be to thee! And peace be to thy helpers! For thy God helps thee. And David received them, and made them chiefs of bands.

¹⁰ and he sent Hadoram his son to king David to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer and smitten him; for Hadarezer was continually at war with Tou; [he sent] also all manner of vessels of gold and silver and bronze.

¹⁷ And after the death of Jehoiada the princes of Judah came and made obeisance to the king; then the king hearkened to them.

¹¹ My sons, be not now negligent; for Jehovah has chosen you to stand before him, to do service unto him, and to be his ministers and incense-burners.

¹⁷ The king sent an answer to Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and the other places beyond the river: Peace, and so forth.

²⁷ Blessed be Jehovah the God of our fathers, who has put [such a thing] as this in the king`s heart, to beautify the house of Jehovah which is at Jerusalem;

²¹ And I proclaimed a fast there, at the river Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.

¹¹ O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants who delight to fear thy name; and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. Now I was the king`s cupbearer.

¹⁶ Go, gather together all the Jews that are found in Shushan, and fast for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise, and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law; and if I perish, I perish.

²¹ The sound of terrors is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer cometh upon him.

³ Lay down now [a pledge], be thou surety for me with thyself: who is he that striketh hands with me?

¹⁴ They come in as through a wide breach: amid the confusion they roll themselves onward.

⁵ Commit thy way unto Jehovah, and rely upon him: he will bring [it] to pass; ⁶ and he will bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. ⁷ Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him that prospereth in his way, because of the man that bringeth mischievous devices to pass.

⁵ There were they in great fear, where no fear was; for God scattereth the bones of him that encampeth against thee. Thou hast put [them] to shame, for God hath despised them.

²⁹ Because of thy temple at Jerusalem shall kings bring presents unto thee.

⁹ The dwellers in the desert shall bow before him, and his enemies shall lick the dust. ¹⁰ The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall render presents; the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer tribute:

¹⁶ When I thought to be able to know this, it was a grievous task in mine eyes;

¹¹ Vow and pay unto Jehovah your God: let all that are round about him bring presents unto him that is to be feared.

⁷ Shew us thy loving-kindness, O Jehovah, and grant us thy salvation.

⁵ For Jehovah is good; his loving-kindness [endureth] for ever; and his faithfulness from generation to generation.

⁴ He hath made his wonders to be remembered: Jehovah is gracious and merciful.

⁴ Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness; he is gracious, and merciful, and righteous.

¹ {A Song of degrees. Of David.} Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! ² Like the precious oil upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, upon Aaron`s beard, that ran down to the hem of his garments;

¹ Proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel:

² she hath slaughtered her cattle, she hath mingled her wine, she hath also prepared her table;

¹⁶ Better is little with the fear of Jehovah than great store and disquietude therewith.

⁷ When a man`s ways please Jehovah, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

¹⁸ Pride [goeth] before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

¹⁸ A senseless man striketh hands, becoming surety for his neighbour.

¹⁶ A man`s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.

⁶ Many court the favour of a noble; and every one is friend to a man that giveth.

¹ The king`s heart in the hand of Jehovah is [as] brooks of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

¹⁴ A gift in secret pacifieth anger; and a present in the bosom, vehement fury.

⁶ Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto the bitter of soul:

¹⁶ She considereth a field, and acquireth it; of the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

¹ For all this I laid to my heart and [indeed] to investigate all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God; man knoweth neither love nor hatred: all is before them. ² All things [come] alike to all: one event to the righteous and to the wicked, to the good, and to the clean, and to the unclean, to him that sacrificeth and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.

⁷ Go, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God hath already accepted thy works.

¹⁹ A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh life merry; but money answereth everything.

¹⁰ How fair is thy love, my sister, [my] spouse! How much better is thy love than wine! And the fragrance of thine ointments than all spices!

¹⁴ Spikenard and saffron; Calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense; Myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices:

¹ I am come into my garden, my sister, [my] spouse; I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk. Eat, O friends; drink, yea, drink abundantly, beloved ones!

² And it was told the house of David saying, Syria is allied with Ephraim. Then his heart and the heart of his people shook, as the trees of the forest are shaken with the wind.

¹⁹ For the people shall dwell in Zion, at Jerusalem. Thou shalt weep no more; he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; as he heareth it, he will answer thee.

² Jehovah, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be their arm every morning, yea, our salvation in the time of trouble.

¹⁴ Long time have I holden my peace; I have been still, I have restrained myself: I will cry like a woman that travaileth; I will blow and pant at once.

¹³ Shout, ye heavens; and be joyful, thou earth; and break forth into singing, ye mountains: for Jehovah hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted ones.

²² Is there no balm in Gilead? is there no physician there? Why then is there no dressing applied for the healing of the daughter of my people?

¹⁶ Thus saith Jehovah: Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears; for there is a reward for thy work, saith Jehovah; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.

²⁰ Is Ephraim a dear son unto me? is he a child of delights? For whilst I have been speaking against him, I do constantly remember him still. Therefore my bowels are troubled for him: I will certainly have mercy upon him, saith Jehovah.

¹⁰ Our skin gloweth like an oven, because of the burning heat of the famine.

¹⁸ When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt certainly die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, that he may live: the same wicked [man] shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thy hand.

²⁰ And when a righteous [man] doth turn from his righteousness, and do what is wrong, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die; because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous acts which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thy hand.

¹⁵ The children of Dedan were thy traffickers; many isles were the mart of thy hand: they rendered in payment horns of ivory, and ebony.

¹⁷ Judah and the land of Israel were thy traffickers: they bartered with thee wheat of Minnith, and sweet cakes, and honey, and oil, and balm.

⁶ But if the watchman see the sword coming, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned, if the sword come and take a person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman`s hand.

⁸ When I say unto the wicked, Wicked [man], thou shalt certainly die; and thou speakest not to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked [man] shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thy hand.

⁸ How shall I give thee over, Ephraim? [how] shall I deliver thee up, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? [how] shall I set thee as Zeboim? My heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.

⁶ For behold, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and impetuous nation, which marcheth through the breadth of the earth, to possess dwelling-places that are not theirs.

⁹ And now, I pray you, beseech ?God that he will be gracious unto us. This hath been of your hand: will he accept any of your persons? saith Jehovah of hosts.

² And behold, they brought to him a paralytic, laid upon a bed; and Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, Be of good courage, child; thy sins are forgiven.

²² But Jesus turning and seeing her, said, Be of good courage, daughter; thy faith has healed thee. And the woman was healed from that hour.

¹⁹ The Son of man has come eating and drinking, and they say, Behold, a man [that is] eating and wine-drinking, a friend of tax-gatherers, and of sinners: -- and wisdom has been justified by her children.

²⁶ And the disciples, seeing him walking on the sea, were troubled, saying, It is an apparition. And they cried out through fear. ²⁷ But Jesus immediately spoke to them, saying, Take courage; it is *I*: be not afraid.

¹⁶ But Herod when he heard [it] said, John whom *I* beheaded, he it is; *he* is risen [from among the dead].

²⁴ And the disciples were amazed at his words. And Jesus again answering says to them, Children, how difficult it is that those who trust in riches should enter into the kingdom of God!

⁵⁰ and his mercy [is] to generations and generations to them that fear him.

⁴⁴ And turning to the woman he said to Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thy house; thou gavest me not water on my feet, but *she* has washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with her hair.

⁵ And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace to this house.

⁵⁰ that the blood of all the prophets which has been poured out from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation,

³⁶ And as they were saying these things, he himself stood in their midst, and says to them, Peace [be] unto you.

¹⁰ and says to him, Every man sets on first the good wine, and when [men] have well drunk, then the inferior; thou hast kept the good wine till now.

³³ Jesus therefore, when he saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, was deeply moved in spirit, and was troubled, ³⁴ and said, Where have ye put him? They say to him, Lord, come and see. ³⁵ Jesus wept. ³⁶ The Jews therefore said, Behold how he loved him! ³⁷ And some of them said, Could not this [man], who has opened the eyes of the blind [man], have caused that this [man] also should not have died? ³⁸ Jesus therefore, again deeply moved in himself, comes to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.

⁴ rises from supper and lays aside his garments, and having taken a linen towel he girded himself: ⁵ then he pours water into the washhand basin, and began to wash the feet of the disciples, and to wipe them with the linen towel with which he was girded. ⁶ He comes therefore to Simon Peter; and *he* says to him, Lord, dost thou wash *my* feet? ⁷ Jesus answered and said to him, What I do thou dost not know now, but thou shalt know hereafter. ⁸ Peter says to him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, Unless I wash thee, thou hast not part with me. ⁹ Simon Peter says to him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. ¹⁰ Jesus says to him, He that is washed all over needs not to wash save his feet, but is wholly clean; and ye are clean, but not all. ¹¹ For he knew him that delivered him up: on account of this he said, Ye are not all clean. ¹² When therefore he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, having sat down again, he said to them, Do ye know what I have done to you? ¹³ Ye call me the Teacher and the Lord, and ye say well, for I am [so]. ¹⁴ If I therefore, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another`s feet; ¹⁵ for I have given you an example that, as I have done to you, ye should do also. ¹⁶ Verily, verily, I say to you, The bondman is not greater than his lord, nor the sent greater than he who has sent him. ¹⁷ If ye know these things, blessed are ye if ye do them.

²⁷ I leave peace with you; I give *my* peace to you: not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it fear.

¹⁹ When therefore it was evening on that day, which was the first [day] of the week, and the doors shut where the disciples were, through fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and says to them, Peace [be] to you.

²¹ [Jesus] said therefore again to them, Peace [be] to you: as the Father sent me forth, I also send you.

²⁶ And eight days after, his disciples were again within, and Thomas with them. Jesus comes, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst and said, Peace [be] to you.

¹⁰ and delivered him out of all his tribulations, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he appointed him chief over Egypt and all his house. ¹¹ But a famine came upon all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great distress, and our fathers found no food. ¹² But Jacob, having heard of there being corn in Egypt, sent out our fathers first; ¹³ and the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren, and the family of Joseph became known to Pharaoh.

³⁴ I have surely seen the ill treatment of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groan, and have come down to take them out of it; and now, come, I will send thee to Egypt.

¹⁹ serving the Lord with all lowliness, and tears, and temptations, which happened to me through the plots of the Jews;

²⁵ And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom [of God], shall see my face no more.

³¹ Wherefore watch, remembering that for three years, night and day, I ceased not admonishing each one [of you] with tears.

³⁷ And they all wept sore; and falling upon the neck of Paul they ardently kissed him, ³⁸ specially pained by the word which he had said, that they would no more see his face. And they went down with him to the ship.

¹⁴ And when he would not be persuaded, we were silent, saying, The will of the Lord be done.

⁸ but sin, getting a point of attack by the commandment, wrought in me every lust; for without law sin [was] dead.

¹⁷ recompensing to no one evil for evil: providing things honest before all men:

⁸ Owe no one anything, unless to love one another: for he that loves another has fulfilled the law.

¹¹ For it is written, *I* live, saith [the] Lord, that to me shall bow every knee, and every tongue shall confess to God.

²¹ for we provide for things honest, not only before [the] Lord, but also before men.

⁸ For God is my witness how I long after you all in [the] bowels of Christ Jesus.

¹ If then [there be] any comfort in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of [the] Spirit, if any bowels and compassions,

¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of heavenly and earthly and infernal [beings], ¹¹ and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord to God [the] Father`s glory.

⁸ For the rest, brethren, whatsoever things [are] true, whatsoever things [are] noble, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] amiable, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue and if any praise, think on these things.

¹² Put on therefore, as [the] elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, longsuffering;

⁶ not overstepping the rights of and wronging his brother in the matter, because the Lord [is] the avenger of all these things, even as we also told you before, and have fully testified.

²¹ but prove all things, hold fast the right;

² to Timotheus, [my] true child in faith: grace, mercy, peace, from God our Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹⁶ But for this reason mercy was shewn me, that in me, [the] first, Jesus Christ might display the whole long-suffering, for a delineation of those about to believe on him to life eternal.

⁸ But if any one does not provide for his own, and specially for those of [his] house, he has denied the faith, and is worse than the unbeliever.

⁶ But piety with contentment *is* great gain. ⁷ For we have brought nothing into the world: [it is] [manifest] that neither can we carry anything out. ⁸ But having sustenance and covering, we will be content with these.

⁴ earnestly desiring to see thee, remembering thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

⁴ to Titus, my own child according to [the] faith common [to us]: Grace and peace from God [the] Father, and Christ Jesus our Saviour.

¹⁸ but if he have wronged thee anything or owe anything [to thee], put this to my account. ¹⁹ *I* Paul have written [it] with mine own hand; *I* will repay [it]: that I say not to thee that thou owest even thine own self also to me.

²² by so much Jesus became surety of a better covenant.

¹ Let brotherly love abide.

⁵ [Let your] conversation [be] without love of money, satisfied with [your] present circumstances; for *he* has said, I will not leave thee, neither will I forsake thee.

⁸ Jesus Christ [is] the same yesterday, and to-day, and to the ages [to come].

¹⁸ Pray for us: for we persuade ourselves that we have a good conscience, in all things desirous to walk rightly.

¹² having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that [as to that] in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through [your] good works, [themselves] witnessing [them], glorify God in [the] day of visitation.

¹⁰ For he that will love life and see good days, let him cause his tongue to cease from evil and his lips that they speak no guile.

¹⁶ having a good conscience, that [as to that] in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may be ashamed who calumniate your good conversation in Christ. ¹⁷ But whoso may have the world`s substance, and see his brother having need, and shut up his bowels from him, how abides the love of God in him?

³ Grace shall be with you, mercy, peace from God [the] Father, and from [the] Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
