⁴² And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it on Joseph`s hand, and arrayed him in clothes of byssus, and put a gold chain on his neck.

¹⁰ And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it to Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews` enemy.

¹² Then were the king`s scribes called, in the first month, on the thirteenth day of the [month], and there was written according to all that Haman commanded unto the king`s satraps, and to the governors over every province, and to the princes of every people; to every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people according to their language: in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king`s ring.

⁷ And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delights to honour, ⁸ let the royal apparel be brought with which the king arrays himself, and the horse that the king rides upon, and on the head of which the royal crown is set; ⁹ and let the apparel and horse be delivered into the hand of one of the king`s most noble princes, and let them array the man whom the king delights to honour, and cause him to ride on the horse through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honour! <sup>10</sup> And the king said to Haman, Make haste, take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do so to Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king`s gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast said. ¹¹ And Haman took the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and caused him to ride through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honour! ¹² And Mordecai came again to the king`s gate. But Haman hasted to his house, mourning and having his head covered.

² And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

⁸ Write ye then for the Jews as seems good to you, in the king`s name, and seal [it] with the king`s ring. For a writing that is written in the king`s name, and sealed with the king`s ring, cannot be reversed.

¹⁰ And he wrote in the name of king Ahasuerus, and sealed [it] with the king`s ring, and sent letters by couriers on horseback riding on coursers, horses of blood reared in the breeding studs:

¹⁵ And Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a mantle of byssus and purple; and the city of Shushan shouted and was glad.

³ For Mordecai the Jew was second to king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the welfare of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.

⁹ for they shall be a garland of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

²² She maketh herself coverlets; her clothing is byssus and purple.

²⁴ She maketh body linen and selleth it, and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

¹⁰ Thy cheeks are comely with bead-rows, Thy neck with ornamental chains.

¹⁰ and I clothed thee with embroidered work, and shod thee with badgers` skin, and I bound thee about with byssus, and covered thee with silk. ¹¹ And I decked thee with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck;

⁷ Byssus with broidered work from Egypt was thy sail, to serve thee for a banner; blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was thine awning.

⁴⁶ Then king Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him. ⁴⁷ The king answered Daniel and said, Of a truth it is that your God is the God of gods, and the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, because thou wast able to reveal this secret.

⁷ The king cried aloud to bring in the magicians, the Chaldeans, and the astrologers. The king spoke and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.

¹⁶ But I have heard of thee, that thou canst give interpretations, and solve problems. Now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.

²⁹ Then Belshazzar commanded, and they clothed Daniel with purple, and [put] a chain of gold about his neck, and made proclamation concerning him that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

²² But the father said to his bondmen, Bring out the best robe and clothe him in [it], and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet;

¹⁶ And the first came up, saying, [My] Lord, thy mina has produced ten minas. ¹⁷ And he said to him, Well [done], thou good bondman; because thou hast been faithful in that which is least, be thou in authority over ten cities. ¹⁸ And the second came, saying, [My] Lord, thy mina has made five minas. ¹⁹ And he said also to this one, And *thou*, be over five cities.
