² These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, fed the flock with his brethren; and he was doing service with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father`s wives. And Joseph brought to his father an evil report of them.

⁴ These are the histories of the heavens and the earth, when they were created, in the day that Jehovah Elohim made earth and heavens,

¹ This is the book of Adam`s generations. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him.

⁹ This is the history of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect amongst his generations: Noah walked with God.

¹ And these are the generations of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth; and to them were sons born after the flood.

⁴ And she gave him Bilhah her maidservant as wife, and Jacob went in to her.

⁹ And when Leah saw that she had ceased to bear, she took Zilpah her maidservant and gave her to Jacob as wife.

²² And it came to pass when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah, his father`s concubine; and Israel heard of it. And the sons of Jacob were twelve.

²⁵ And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel`s maidservant: Dan and Naphtali. <sup>26</sup> And the sons of Zilpah, Leah`s maidservant: Gad and Asher. These are the sons of Jacob that were born to him in Padan-Aram.

²² And Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons were doing to all Israel, and that they lay with the women that served at the entrance of the tent of meeting. ²³ And he said to them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil deeds from all this people. ²⁴ No, my sons, for it is no good report that I hear: ye make Jehovah`s people transgress.

⁷ The world cannot hate you, but me it hates, because I bear witness concerning it that its works are evil.

¹¹ For it has been shewn to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of [the house of] Chloe, that there are strifes among you.

¹ It is universally reported [that there is] fornication among you, and such fornication as [is] not even among the nations, so that one should have his father`s wife.

¹⁸ For first, when ye come together in assembly, I hear there exist divisions among you, and I partly give credit [to it].
