¹⁷ Now I say this, A covenant confirmed beforehand by God, the law, which took place four hundred and thirty years after, does not annul, so as to make the promise of no effect.

¹³ And he said to Abram, Know assuredly that thy seed will be a sojourner in a land [that is] not theirs, and they shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years.

¹⁸ On the same day Jehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates;

⁷ And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and thy seed after thee in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to thee, and to thy seed after thee. ⁸ And I give to thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land of thy sojourning, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be a God to them.

¹⁹ And God said, Sarah thy wife shall indeed bear thee a son; and thou shalt call his name Isaac; and I will establish my covenant with him, for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him.

⁴⁰ And the residence of the children of Israel that they resided in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years. ⁴¹ And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, on that same day it came to pass that all the hosts of Jehovah went out from the land of Egypt.

¹⁹ ?God is not a man, that he should lie; neither a son of man, that he should repent. Shall he say and not do? and shall he speak and not make it good?

⁸ But if her husband prohibit her on the day that he heareth it, and annul her vow which is upon her, and what hath passed her lips, wherewith she hath bound her soul, then Jehovah shall pardon her.

⁸ Wilt thou also annul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me that thou mayest be righteous?

¹⁰ Jehovah frustrateth the counsel of the nations; he maketh the thoughts of the peoples of none effect.

²⁷ For Jehovah of hosts hath purposed, and who shall frustrate [it]? And his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

¹⁸ And your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, ye shall be trodden down by it.

⁶⁸ Blessed be [the] Lord the God of Israel, because he has visited and wrought redemption for his people, ⁶⁹ and raised up a horn of deliverance for us in the house of David his servant; ⁷⁰ as he spoke by [the] mouth of his holy prophets, who have been since the world began; ⁷¹ deliverance from our enemies and out of the hand of all who hate us; ⁷² to fulfil mercy with our fathers and remember his holy covenant, ⁷³ [the] oath which he swore to Abraham our father, ⁷⁴ to give us, that, saved out of the hand of our enemies, we should serve him without fear ⁷⁵ in piety and righteousness before him all our days. ⁷⁶ And *thou*, child, shalt be called [the] prophet of [the] Highest; for thou shalt go before the face of [the] Lord to make ready his ways; ⁷⁷ to give knowledge of deliverance to his people by [the] remission of their sins ⁷⁸ on account of [the] bowels of mercy of our God; wherein [the] dayspring from on high has visited us, ⁷⁹ to shine upon them who were sitting in darkness and in [the] shadow of death, to guide our feet into [the] way of peace.

¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses: grace and truth subsists through Jesus Christ.

⁵⁶ Your father Abraham exulted in that he should see my day, and he saw and rejoiced. ⁵⁷ The Jews therefore said to him, Thou hast not yet fifty years, and hast thou seen Abraham? ⁵⁸ Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

⁶ And God spoke thus: His seed shall be a sojourner in a strange land, and they shall enslave them and evil entreat [them] four hundred years;

³ For what? if some have not believed, shall their unbelief make the faith of God of none effect?

²⁵ whom God has set forth a mercy-seat, through faith in his blood, for [the] shewing forth of his righteousness, in respect of the passing by the sins that had taken place before, through the forbearance of God;

¹³ For [it was] not by law that the promise was to Abraham, or to his seed, that he should be heir of [the] world, but by righteousness of faith. ¹⁴ For if they which [are] of law be heirs, faith is made vain, and the promise made of no effect.

¹² But I speak of this, that each of you says, *I* am of Paul, and *I* of Apollos, and *I* of Cephas, and *I* of Christ.

¹⁷ For Christ has not sent me to baptise, but to preach glad tidings; not in wisdom of word, that the cross of the Christ may not be made vain.

²⁹ But this I say, brethren, the time is straitened. For the rest, that they who have wives, be as not having [any]:

¹⁹ What then do I say? that what is sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything?

²⁰ For whatever promises of God [there are], in him is the yea, and in him the amen, for glory to God by us.

⁶ But this [is true], he that sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he that sows in [the spirit of] blessing shall reap also in blessing:

¹⁵ Brethren, (I speak according to man,) even man`s confirmed covenant no one sets aside, or adds other dispositions to.

²¹ [Is] then the law against the promises of God? Far be the thought. For if a law had been given able to quicken, then indeed righteousness were on the principle of law;

⁴ Ye are deprived of all profit from the Christ as separated [from him], as many as are justified by law; ye have fallen from grace.

¹⁶ But I say, Walk in [the] Spirit, and ye shall no way fulfil flesh`s lust.

¹⁷ This I say therefore, and testify in [the] Lord, that ye should no longer walk as [the rest of] the nations walk in [the] vanity of their mind,

⁴ And I say this to the end that no one may delude you by persuasive speech.

¹³ For God, having promised to Abraham, since he had no greater to swear by, swore by himself, ¹⁴ saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee; ¹⁵ and thus, having had long patience, he got the promise. ¹⁶ For men indeed swear by a greater, and with them the oath is a term to all dispute, as making matters sure. ¹⁷ Wherein God, willing to shew more abundantly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of his purpose, intervened by an oath, ¹⁸ that by two unchangeable things, in which [it was] impossible that God should lie, we might have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us,

¹⁸ For there is a setting aside of the commandment going before for its weakness and unprofitableness,

¹³ All these died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them from afar off and embraced [them], and confessed that they were strangers and sojourners on the earth.

¹⁷ By faith Abraham, [when] tried, offered up Isaac, and he who had received to himself the promises offered up his only begotten [son], ¹⁸ as to whom it had been said, In Isaac shall thy seed be called: ¹⁹ counting that God [was] able to raise [him] even from among [the] dead, whence also he received him in a figure.

³⁹ And these all, having obtained witness through faith, did not receive the promise, ⁴⁰ God having foreseen some better thing for us, that they should not be made perfect without us.

¹¹ searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ which [was] in them pointed out, testifying before of the sufferings which [belonged] to Christ, and the glories after these. ¹² To whom it was revealed, that not to themselves but to you they ministered those things, which have now been announced to you by those who have declared to you the glad tidings by [the] Holy Spirit, sent from heaven, which angels desire to look into.

²⁰ foreknown indeed before [the] foundation of [the] world, but who has been manifested at the end of times for your sakes,
