¹¹ Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

²¹ But as surely as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of Jehovah!

²⁸ Say unto them, As surely as I live, saith Jehovah, if I do not do unto you as ye have spoken in mine ears!

¹⁴ For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; and God has not taken away his life, but devises means that the banished one be not expelled from him.

²³ Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour forth my spirit unto you, I will make known to you my words.

³⁶ but he that sinneth against me doeth violence to his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

¹⁸ Lift up thine eyes round about and behold: they all gather themselves together, they come to thee. As I live, saith Jehovah, thou shalt indeed clothe thee with them all as with an ornament, and bind them on as a bride doth.

⁶ Seek ye Jehovah while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near. ⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto Jehovah, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

²² -- Return, backsliding children; I will heal your backslidings. ... Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art Jehovah our God.

²⁴ [As] I live, saith Jehovah, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, the king of Judah, were a signet upon my right hand, yet will I pluck thee thence;

¹⁸ I have indeed heard Ephraim bemoaning himself [thus]: Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised as a bullock not trained: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art Jehovah my God. ¹⁹ Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after I knew myself, I smote upon [my] thigh. I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, for I bear the reproach of my youth. ²⁰ Is Ephraim a dear son unto me? is he a child of delights? For whilst I have been speaking against him, I do constantly remember him still. Therefore my bowels are troubled for him: I will certainly have mercy upon him, saith Jehovah.

¹⁸ [As] I live, saith the King, whose name is Jehovah of hosts, surely as Tabor among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.

³³ for he doth not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men.

¹¹ Wherefore, [as] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, verily because thou hast defiled my sanctuary with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also withdraw mine eye, and it shall not spare, nor will I have any pity.

⁶ Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Return ye, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

¹⁶ -- though these three men should be in it, [as] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, they should deliver neither sons nor daughters: they only should be delivered, and the land should be a desolation. ¹⁷ Or [if] I bring the sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land, so that I cut off man and beast from it, ¹⁸ and these three men should be in it, [as] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, they should deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only themselves should be delivered.

⁴⁸ [As] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters!

²³ Have I any pleasure at all in the death of the wicked? saith the Lord Jehovah; is it not in his turning from his way, that he may live?

³⁰ Therefore I will judge you, house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord Jehovah. Return ye, and turn from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your snare. ³¹ Cast away from you all your transgressions wherewith ye have transgressed, and make you a new heart and a new spirit: why then will ye die, house of Israel? ³² For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord Jehovah; therefore turn ye and live.

¹³ As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us; yet we besought not Jehovah our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.

⁸ How shall I give thee over, Ephraim? [how] shall I deliver thee up, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? [how] shall I set thee as Zeboim? My heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.

¹ O Israel, return unto Jehovah thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.

⁹ Therefore, [as] I live, saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Moab shall certainly be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, a possession of nettles, and salt-pits, and a perpetual desolation; the remnant of my people shall spoil them, and the residue of my nation shall possess them.

²⁰ And he rose up and went to his own father. But while he was yet a long way off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell upon his neck, and covered him with kisses. ²¹ And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before thee; I am no longer worthy to be called thy son. ²² But the father said to his bondmen, Bring out the best robe and clothe him in [it], and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet; ²³ and bring the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and make merry: ²⁴ for this my son was dead and has come to life, was lost and has been found. And they began to make merry. ²⁵ And his elder son was in the field; and as, coming [up], he drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing. ²⁶ And having called one of the servants, he inquired what these things might be. ²⁷ And he said to him, Thy brother is come, and thy father has killed the fatted calf because he has received him safe and well. ²⁸ But he became angry and would not go in. And his father went out and besought him. ²⁹ But he answering said to his father, Behold, so many years I serve thee, and never have I transgressed a commandment of thine; and to me hast thou never given a kid that I might make merry with my friends: ³⁰ but when this thy son, who has devoured thy substance with harlots, is come, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf. ³¹ But he said to him, Child, *thou* art ever with me, and all that is mine is thine. ³² But it was right to make merry and rejoice, because this thy brother was dead and has come to life again, and was lost and has been found.

¹⁹ Repent therefore and be converted, for the blotting out of your sins, so that times of refreshing may come from [the] presence of the Lord,

²⁰ but have, first to those both in Damascus and Jerusalem, and to all the region of Judaea, and to the nations, announced that they should repent and turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.

¹¹ For it is written, *I* live, saith [the] Lord, that to me shall bow every knee, and every tongue shall confess to God.

⁴ who desires that all men should be saved and come to [the] knowledge of [the] truth.

⁹ [The] Lord does not delay his promise, as some account of delay, but is longsuffering towards you, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
