¹ And king Ahasuerus laid a tribute upon the land and the isles of the sea. ² And all the acts of his power and of his might, and the declaration of the greatness of Mordecai, to which the king advanced him, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia? ³ For Mordecai the Jew was second to king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the welfare of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.

⁵ From these came the distribution of the isles of the nations, according to their lands, every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

⁴⁰ Thou shalt be over my house, and according to thy commandment shall all my people regulate themselves; only concerning the throne will I be greater than thou.

⁴³ And he caused him to ride in the second chariot that he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee! and he set him over all the land of Egypt. ⁴⁴ And Pharaoh said to Joseph, I am Pharaoh; and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or his foot in all the land of Egypt.

¹⁷ And he said to him, Fear not; for the hand of Saul my father will not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next to thee; and that also Saul my father knows.

⁴¹ And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?

¹⁹ And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

³⁹ And the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house that he built, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

⁷ And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah the king`s son, and Azrikam the governor of the house, and Elkanah the second to the king.

¹⁰ And when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobijah the servant, the Ammonite, heard [of it], it grieved them exceedingly that there had come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.

¹ And it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus (that is, the Ahasuerus that reigned from India even to Ethiopia, over a hundred and twenty-seven provinces),

²³ And the matter was investigated and found out; and they were both hanged on a tree. And it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king.

² And all the king`s servants that were in the king`s gate bowed and did Haman reverence, for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did [him] reverence.

¹ On that night sleep fled from the king. And he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.

⁹ Then were the king`s scribes called at that time, in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth [day] thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded, to the Jews, and to the satraps, and the governors, and the princes of the provinces which are from India even to Ethiopia, a hundred and twenty-seven provinces, to every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people according to their language, and to the Jews according to their writing and according to their language.

¹⁵ And Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a mantle of byssus and purple; and the city of Shushan shouted and was glad.

⁴ For Mordecai was great in the king`s house, and his fame went forth throughout the provinces; for the man Mordecai became continually greater.

³⁵ And thou didst give me the shield of thy salvation, and thy right hand held me up; and thy condescending gentleness hath made me great.

¹⁰ The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall render presents; the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer tribute:

⁶ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. ⁷ Peace be within thy bulwarks, prosperity within thy palaces. ⁸ For my brethren and companions` sakes I will say, Peace be within thee! ⁹ Because of the house of Jehovah our God I will seek thy good.

¹¹ And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to acquire the remnant of his people which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

¹⁵ Therefore glorify Jehovah in the east, the name of Jehovah, the God of Israel, in the isles of the west.

⁴⁸ Then the king made Daniel great, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.

¹⁶ But I have heard of thee, that thou canst give interpretations, and solve problems. Now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.

²⁹ Then Belshazzar commanded, and they clothed Daniel with purple, and [put] a chain of gold about his neck, and made proclamation concerning him that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

¹⁸ And he shall turn his face unto the isles, and shall take many; but a captain for his own behalf shall cause the reproach offered by him to cease: he shall turn it upon him, without reproach for himself.

¹ But it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census should be made of all the habitable world.

² that I have great grief and uninterrupted pain in my heart, ³ for I have wished, I myself, to be a curse from the Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen, according to flesh;

¹ Brethren, the delight of my own heart and my supplication which [I address] to God for them is for salvation.

¹⁸ For he that in this serves the Christ [is] acceptable to God and approved of men.
