¹² For wisdom is a defence [as] money is a defence; but the excellency of knowledge is, [that] wisdom maketh them that possess it to live.

¹⁹ I call heaven and earth to witness this day against you: life and death have I set before you, blessing and cursing: choose then life, that thou mayest live, thou and thy seed, ²⁰ in loving Jehovah thy God, in hearkening to his voice, and in cleaving to him -- for this is thy life and the length of thy days -- that thou mayest dwell in the land which Jehovah swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

⁴⁷ For it is no vain word for you, but it is your life, and through this word ye shall prolong your days on the land whereunto ye pass over the Jordan to possess it.

¹⁵ And the thorn-bush said to the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, come, put confidence in my shadow; but if not, fire shall come out of the thorn-bush and devour the cedars of Lebanon.

¹⁰ Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is spread abroad in the land.

²¹ Reconcile thyself now with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee. ²² Receive, I pray thee, instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in thy heart. ²³ If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up. If thou remove unrighteousness far from thy tents, ²⁴ And put the precious ore with the dust, and [the gold of] Ophir among the stones of the torrents, ²⁵ Then the Almighty will be thy precious ore, and silver heaped up unto thee;

⁷ He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright; [he] is a shield to them that walk in integrity;

¹¹ discretion shall keep thee, understanding shall preserve thee:

¹⁸ She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her; and happy is he that retaineth her.

³⁵ For whoso findeth me findeth life, and obtaineth favour of Jehovah;

¹¹ For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and years of life shall be added to thee.

⁴ Wealth profiteth not in the day of wrath; but righteousness delivereth from death.

²⁰ He that is poor is hated even of his own neighbour; but the rich hath many friends.

¹⁰ The name of Jehovah is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. ¹¹ The rich man`s wealth is his strong city, and as a high wall in his own imagination.

² who walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked of my mouth, -- to take refuge under the protection of Pharaoh, and trust in the shadow of Egypt!

² And a man shall be as a hiding-place from the wind, and a covert from the storm; as brooks of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.

⁶ and he shall be the stability of thy times, the riches of salvation, wisdom and knowledge: the fear of Jehovah shall be your treasure.

⁵⁰ and I know that his commandment is life eternal. What therefore I speak, as the Father has said to me, so I speak.

³ And this is the eternal life, that they should know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.

⁸ But surely I count also all things to be loss on account of the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, on account of whom I have suffered the loss of all, and count them to be filth, that I may gain Christ;
