¹⁶ for *I* will shew to him how much he must suffer for my name.

¹ Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou wast not spoiled; and that dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! When thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; when thou shalt make an end of dealing treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.

¹¹ Blessed are ye when they may reproach and persecute you, and say every wicked thing against you, lying, for my sake.

²¹ But brother shall deliver up brother to death, and father child; and children shall rise up against parents and shall put them to death; ²² and ye shall be hated of all on account of my name. But he that has endured to [the] end, *he* shall be saved. ²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee to the other; for verily I say to you, Ye shall not have completed the cities of Israel until the Son of man be come. ²⁴ The disciple is not above his teacher, nor the bondman above his lord. ²⁵ [It is] sufficient for the disciple that he should become as his teacher, and the bondman as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more those of his household?

⁹ Then shall they deliver you up to tribulation, and shall kill you; and ye will be hated of all the nations for my name`s sake.

²⁰ Remember the word which I said unto you, The bondman is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my word, they will keep also yours.

¹ These things I have spoken unto you that ye may not be offended. ² They shall put you out of the synagogues; but the hour is coming that every one who kills you will think to render service to God; ³ and these things they will do because they have not known the Father nor me. ⁴ But I have spoken these things to you, that when their hour shall have come, ye may remember them, that I have said [them] unto you. But I did not say these things unto you from [the] beginning, because I was with you.

¹⁴ and here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call upon thy name.

²² And now, behold, bound in my spirit *I* go to Jerusalem, not knowing what things shall happen to me in it; ²³ only that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city, saying that bonds and tribulations await me.

⁴ And having found out the disciples, we remained there seven days; who said to Paul by the Spirit not to go up to Jerusalem.

¹¹ and coming to us and taking the girdle of Paul, and having bound his own hands and feet, said, Thus saith the Holy Spirit, The man whose this girdle is shall the Jews thus bind in Jerusalem, and deliver him up into the hands of [the] Gentiles.

⁹ For I think that God has set us the apostles for the last, as appointed to death. For we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and men. ¹⁰ *We* [are] fools for Christ`s sake, but *ye* prudent in Christ: *we* weak, but *ye* strong: *ye* glorious, but *we* in dishonour. ¹¹ To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and are in nakedness, and buffeted, and wander without a home, ¹² and labour, working with our own hands. Railed at, we bless; persecuted, we suffer [it]; ¹³ insulted, we entreat: we are become as [the] offscouring of the world, [the] refuse of all, until now.

⁴ but in everything commending ourselves as God`s ministers, in much endurance, in afflictions, in necessities, in straits,

²³ Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as being beside myself) *I* above measure [so]; in labours exceedingly abundant, in stripes to excess, in prisons exceedingly abundant, in deaths oft. ²⁴ From the Jews five times have I received forty [stripes], save one. ²⁵ Thrice have I been scourged, once I have been stoned, three times I have suffered shipwreck, a night and day I passed in the deep: ²⁶ in journeyings often, in perils of rivers, in perils of robbers, in perils from [my own] race, in perils from [the] nations, in perils in [the] city, in perils in [the] desert, in perils on [the] sea, in perils among false brethren; ²⁷ in labour and toil, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

³ that no one might be moved by these afflictions. (For yourselves know that we are set for this;

¹² For which cause also I suffer these things; but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep for that day the deposit I have entrusted to him.

⁹ in which I suffer even unto bonds as an evil-doer: but the word of God is not bound. ¹⁰ For this cause I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that *they* also may obtain the salvation which [is] in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

¹¹ persecutions, sufferings: what [sufferings] happened to me in Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra; what persecutions I endured; and the Lord delivered me out of all.

¹⁴ If ye are reproached in [the] name of Christ, blessed [are ye]; for the [Spirit] of glory and the Spirit of God rests upon you: [on their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.]

⁹ I John, your brother and fellow-partaker in the tribulation and kingdom and patience, in Jesus, was in the island called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus.
