¹⁶ For we have not made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, following cleverly imagined fables, but having been eyewitnesses of *his* majesty.

² But who shall endure the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? For he will be like a refiner`s fire, and like fullers` lye.

⁵ Behold, I send unto you Elijah the prophet, before the coming of the great and terrible day of Jehovah.

²⁸ Verily I say unto you, There are some of those standing here that shall not taste of death at all until they shall have seen the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

³ And as he was sitting upon the mount of Olives the disciples came to him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be, and what is the sign of thy coming and [the] completion of the age?

²⁷ For as the lightning goes forth from the east and shines to the west, so shall be the coming of the Son of man.

¹⁸ And Jesus coming up spoke to them, saying, All power has been given me in heaven and upon earth.

¹ And he said to them, Verily I say unto you, There are some of those standing here that shall not taste death until they shall have seen the kingdom of God come in power. ² And after six days Jesus takes with [him] Peter and James and John, and takes them up on a high mountain by themselves apart. And he was transfigured before them:

²⁸ And it came to pass after these words, about eight days, that taking Peter and John and James he went up into a mountain to pray. ²⁹ And as he prayed the fashion of his countenance became different and his raiment white [and] effulgent. ³⁰ And lo, two men talked with him, who were Moses and Elias, ³¹ who, appearing in glory, spoke of his departure which he was about to accomplish in Jerusalem. ³² But Peter and those with him were oppressed with sleep: but having fully awoke up they saw his glory, and the two men who stood with him.

¹⁴ And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we have contemplated his glory, a glory as of an only-begotten with a father), full of grace and truth;

² as thou hast given him authority over all flesh, that [as to] all that thou hast given to him, he should give them life eternal.

⁴ marked out Son of God in power, according to [the] Spirit of holiness, by resurrection of [the] dead) Jesus Christ our Lord;

⁷ so that ye come short in no gift, awaiting the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;

¹⁷ For Christ has not sent me to baptise, but to preach glad tidings; not in wisdom of word, that the cross of the Christ may not be made vain.

²³ but *we* preach Christ crucified, to Jews an offence, and to nations foolishness;

¹ And *I*, when I came to you, brethren, came not in excellency of word, or wisdom, announcing to you the testimony of God.

⁴ and my word and my preaching, not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of [the] Spirit and of power;

⁴ [to deliver,] in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (ye and my spirit being gathered together, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ), him that has so wrought this:

¹⁷ For we do not, as the many, make a trade of the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as of God, before God, we speak in Christ.

² But we have rejected the hidden things of shame, not walking in deceit, nor falsifying the word of God, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every conscience of men before God.

¹⁶ But be it so. *I* did not burden you, but being crafty I took you by guile. ¹⁷ Did I make gain of you by any of those whom I have sent to you?

¹⁴ in order that we may be no longer babes, tossed and carried about by every wind of *that* teaching [which is] in the sleight of men, in unprincipled cunning with a view to systematized error;

²¹ who shall transform our body of humiliation into conformity to his body of glory, according to the working of [the] power which he has even to subdue all things to himself.

¹⁹ For what [is] our hope, or joy, or crown of boasting? [are] not *ye* also before our Lord Jesus at his coming?

⁹ whose coming is according to the working of Satan in all power and signs and wonders of falsehood,

⁴ nor to turn their minds to fables and interminable genealogies, which bring questionings rather than [further] God`s dispensation, which [is] in faith.

⁷ But profane and old wives` fables avoid, but exercise thyself unto piety;

¹⁴ not turning [their] minds to Jewish fables and commandments of men turning away from the truth.

³ knowing this first, that there shall come at [the] close of the days mockers with mocking, walking according to their own lusts, ⁴ and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for from the time the fathers fell asleep all things remain thus from [the] beginning of [the] creation.

¹ That which was from [the] beginning, that which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes; that which we contemplated, and our hands handled, concerning the word of life; ² (and the life has been manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and report to you the eternal life, which was with the Father, and has been manifested to us:) ³ that which we have seen and heard we report to you, that *ye* also may have fellowship with us; and our fellowship [is] indeed with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

¹⁴ And *we* have seen, and testify, that the Father has sent the Son [as] Saviour of the world.

¹⁴ And Enoch, [the] seventh from Adam, prophesied also as to these, saying, Behold, [the] Lord has come amidst his holy myriads,

⁷ Behold, he comes with the clouds, and every eye shall see him, and they which have pierced him, and all the tribes of the land shall wail because of him. Yea. Amen.
