¹⁶ And Jehovah stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, who [are] near the Ethiopians;

¹⁹ And now, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If Jehovah have moved thee against me, let him accept an oblation; but if the sons of men, cursed be they before Jehovah; for they have driven me out this day from adhering to the inheritance of Jehovah, saying, Go, serve other gods.

¹ And again the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them saying, Go, number Israel and Judah.

¹¹ And Jehovah said to Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done by thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes which I commanded thee, I will certainly rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant:

¹⁴ And Jehovah stirred up an adversary to Solomon, Hadad the Edomite; he was of the king`s seed in Edom.

²³ God stirred him up yet an adversary, Rezon the son of Eliada, who had fled from Hadadezer king of Zobah, his lord.

¹¹ And some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat gifts and tribute-silver. The Arabians also brought him flocks, seven thousand seven hundred rams, and seven thousand seven hundred he-goats.

¹ And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his stead; for the band of men that came in the camp with the Arabians had slain all the elder ones. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned.

⁷ And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-Baal, and the Maonites.

¹ And in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of Jehovah by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, and he made a proclamation throughout his kingdom, and also in writing, saying,

⁵ And the chief fathers of Judah and Benjamin rose up, and the priests, and the Levites, even all those whose spirit God had stirred, to go up to build the house of Jehovah which is at Jerusalem.

⁵ Ah! the Assyrian! the rod of mine anger! and the staff in their hand is mine indignation. ⁶ I will send him against a hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge; to take the spoil, and to seize the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

⁵ I [am] Jehovah, and there is none else; there is no God beside me: I girded thee, and thou hast not known me; ⁶ -- that they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the going down, that there is none beside me. I [am] Jehovah, and there is none else; ⁷ forming the light and creating darkness, making peace and creating evil: I, Jehovah, do all these things.

⁶ Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? Shall there be evil in a city, and Jehovah not have done [it]?
