²¹ For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? ¹ For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

⁶ Therefore we are always of good courage; and we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord,

⁸ We are confident, I say, and would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

²⁰ I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

¹⁴ But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

²⁰ as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be ashamed in anything, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.

²³ I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better;

²¹ For they all seek after their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus.

⁴ When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

¹³ But we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. ¹⁴ For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. ¹⁵ For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.
