²⁹ When he came near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount that is called Olivet, he sent two of the disciples,

¹ Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, ² saying to them, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me. ³ If any one says anything to you, you shall say, 'The Lord has need of them,' and he will send them immediately." ⁴ This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying: ⁵ "Tell the daughter of Zion, 'Behold, your King is coming to you, lowly, and sitting on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.'" ⁶ The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. ⁷ They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them. ⁸ And a very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. ⁹ The crowds that went before him and those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!" ¹⁰ And when he entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, "Who is this?" ¹¹ So the crowds said, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee."

¹⁷ Then he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and he lodged there.

¹ And when they drew near Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, ² and said to them, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it. ³ If anyone says to you, 'Why are you doing this?' say, 'The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately.'" ⁴ They went away and found a colt tied at the door outside in the open street, and they untied it. ⁵ And some of those who stood there said to them, "What are you doing, untying the colt?" ⁶ They answered as Jesus had told them to, and they let them go. ⁷ Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments on it, and he sat on it. ⁸ And many spread their garments on the road, and others spread leafy branches which they had cut from the fields. ⁹ And those who went before and those who followed cried out, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! ¹⁰ Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that is coming! Hosanna in the highest!" ¹¹ Jesus entered Jerusalem, and went into the temple. And when he had looked round at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.

³⁷ And, as he was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen,

³⁷ And every day he was teaching in the temple, but at night he went out to spend the night on the mount called Olivet.

³⁹ He came out, and went to the Mount of Olives, as was his custom, and his disciples followed him.

⁵⁰ Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and he lifted up his hands and blessed them.

¹² The next day a great crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. ¹³ They took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! The King of Israel!" ¹⁴ Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it, as it is written, ¹⁵ "Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your King is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt." ¹⁶ His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and that they had done these things to him.

¹² Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey away.
