¹³ But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind,

¹⁴ When Jesus went ashore he saw a great throng; and he had compassion on them, and healed their sick. ¹⁵ When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a remote place, and it's already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food." ¹⁶ Jesus said, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat." ¹⁷ They said to him, "We have only five loaves here and two fish." ¹⁸ He said, "Bring them here to me," ¹⁹ Then he commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave them to the multitudes. ²⁰ And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over. ²¹ Now those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

³² Now Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion on the multitude, because they have been with me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way." ³³ Then his disciples said to him, "Where could we get enough bread in the wilderness to feed such a great crowd?" ³⁴ And Jesus said to them, "How many loaves do you have?" They said, "Seven, and a few small fish." ³⁵ He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. ³⁶ Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and having given thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. ³⁷ And they all ate and were satisfied; and they took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over. ³⁸ Now those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children. ³⁹ And he sent away the crowds, got into the boat, and went to the region of Magadan.

¹⁰ And those servants went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good; so the wedding hall was filled with guests.

⁴¹ But give for alms those things which are within; and behold, everything is clean for you.

²¹ So the servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in the poor and the maimed, the blind and the lame.'

⁴⁴ And all who believed were together and had all things in common; ⁴⁵ and they sold their possessions and goods and distributed them to all, as anyone had need.

³⁴ For there was not a needy person among them, For all who were owners of land or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of the sales ³⁵ and laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.

³⁹ So Peter rose and went with them. And when he arrived, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood beside him, weeping and showing the tunics and other garments that Dorcas made while she was with them.

¹³ Contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality. ¹⁴ Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. ¹⁵ Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. ¹⁶ Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but associate with the lowly. Do not be conceited.

² Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,

¹⁰ and she must be well known for her good deeds, as one who has brought up children, shown hospitality, washed the feet of the saints, relieved those in distress, and devoted herself to doing good in every way.

⁸ but hospitable, a lover of what is good, master of himself, upright, holy, and self-controlled;

⁷ For I have derived much joy and comfort from your love, my brother, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you.

² Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.
