⁵ I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from me you can do nothing.

⁶ He told this parable: "A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. ⁷ So he said to the keeper of his vineyard, 'Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why should it use up the ground?' ⁸ And he answered him, 'Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. ⁹ And if it bears fruit next year, fine; but if not, you can cut it down.'"

¹⁹ Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatever he does, the Son also does.

³³ If this man were not from God, he could do nothing."

²⁴ Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.

¹⁶ You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.

¹² And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

²² But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the return you get is holiness and its end, eternal life.

⁴ Likewise, my brethren, you have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit to God.

⁵ so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.

¹⁶ The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?

¹² For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so it is with Christ.

²⁷ Now you are the body of Christ, and individually members of it.

¹⁰ Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will multiply the harvest of your righteousness.

⁸ For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

⁹ (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth),

¹¹ having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

¹³ I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

¹⁷ Not that I seek the gift itself, but I seek for the profit which increases to your account.

⁶ which has come to you, just as in all the world it is bearing fruit and growing, even as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth;

¹⁰ so that you will live a life worthy of the Lord, to please him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.

¹⁷ Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

⁴ As you come to him, the living Stone rejected by men but chosen and precious in the sight of God

² grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. ³ His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and excellence. ⁴ By these he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of lust, and become partakers of the divine nature. ⁵ For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge, ⁶ and to knowledge, self-control, and to self-control, perseverance, and to perseverance, godliness, ⁷ and to godliness, brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness, love. ⁸ For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ For whoever lacks these things is blind and shortsighted, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. ¹⁰ Therefore, brethren, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall; ¹¹ so there will be an entrance richly provided for you into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. ¹² Therefore I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. ¹³ I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by way of reminder, ¹⁴ since I know that the putting aside of my body will be soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. ¹⁵ And I will see to it that after my departure you will be able at any time to call these things to mind. ¹⁶ For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. ¹⁷ For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him by the Majestic Glory, saying, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." ¹⁸ We ourselves heard this voice coming from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.

¹⁸ But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
