That a thing offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? ²⁰ No, but I say that the things pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be partners with demons.

⁹ And when I was with you and needed something, I was not a burden to anyone, for the brethren who came from Macedonia supplied what I needed. I have kept myself from being a burden to you in any way, and will continue to do so.

¹¹ Finally, brethren, farewell. Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.

²² Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others; keep yourself pure.

²⁷ Religion that is pure and undefiled in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
