¹⁹ We know that we are of God, and the whole world is under the power of the evil one.

³¹ Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.

³⁰ I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in me.

¹⁸ "If the world hates you, know that it hated me before it hated you. ¹⁹ If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

²⁸ And since they did not see fit to retain the knowledge of God, God gave them over to a base mind, to do what ought not to be done. ²⁹ They were filled with all manner of wickedness, evil, covetousness, depravity. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, ³⁰ slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, ³¹ foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. ³² Though they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

⁹ What then? Are we Jews any better off? Certainly not; for we have already charged that all men, both Jews and Greeks, are under the power of sin. ¹⁰ As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one; ¹¹ there is no one who understands, no one who seeks for God. ¹² All have turned aside, together they have become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one." ¹³ "Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to practice deceit." "The poison of asps is under their lips." ¹⁴ "Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness." ¹⁵ "Their feet are swift to shed blood; ¹⁶ in their ways are ruin and misery, ¹⁷ and the way of peace they do not know." ¹⁸ "There is no fear of God before their eyes."

¹⁶ The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

¹² For our boast is this: the testimony of our conscience, that with holiness and godly sincerity, not in worldly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and still more toward you.

⁴ In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

¹ For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

⁴ who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,

² in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience.

¹² For this reason I also suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.

³ For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by men and hating one another.

⁴ You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

¹⁴ We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death.

²⁴ Now those who keep his commandments abide in him, and he in them. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.

⁴ You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. ⁵ They are of the world and therefore speak as of the world, and the world listens to them. ⁶ We are of God. Whoever knows God listens to us; he who is not of God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

¹⁰ He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given of his Son.

¹³ I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

¹⁸ We know that anyone born of God does not sin; but he who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

⁹ And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole worldhe was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

⁷ Also it was given power to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And authority was given it over every tribe and people and tongue and nation, ⁸ and all who dwell on earth will worship it, every one whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that was slain.

³ and he threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any more, until the thousand years were ended. After these things he must be released for a short time.

⁷ When the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison ⁸ and will come out to deceive the nations which are at the four corners of the earth, that is, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the seashore.
