¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, "He catches the wise in their own craftiness";

² by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.

¹⁵ For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, ¹⁶ to the one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. And who is sufficient for these things?

³ And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.

⁴ For the weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world, but they have divine power to destroy strongholds.

¹² Those who want to make a good showing in the flesh try to compel you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. ¹³ For those who are circumcised do not even keep the Law themselves, but they desire to have you circumcised so that they may boast in your flesh. ¹⁴ But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

⁵ for our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.

¹⁰ and with all the deception of wickedness for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.

¹² For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
