¹⁸ They probed El in their heart By requesting food for their soul.

² Then the whole congregation of the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness; ³ and the sons of Israel said to them: O that we had died by the hand of Yahweh in the land of Egypt when we sat over the flesh pots when we ate bread to satisfaction, for you have brought us forth to this wilderness to put this entire assembly to death with famine.

⁴ The rabble which was among them lusted after yearning; and again the sons of Israel lamented also and said:Who shall give us flesh to eat?

¹⁶ You shall not probe Yahweh your Elohim as you probed at Massah.

⁹ Where your fathers probed Me and tested Me, Though they had seen My deeds."

¹⁴ They lusted with yearning in the wilderness, And they tried El in the desolation." ¹⁵ So He gave them their request, And He sent sustenance for their soul."

⁶ Now these things became types of us, for us not to be lusters after evil things,

⁹ Nor yet may we be putting the Lord on trial, according as some of them put Him on trial, and perished by serpents."

² You are coveting and have not. You are murdering and are jealous, and you can not encounter it. You are fighting and battling, and you have not, because of not requesting." ³ You are requesting and not obtaining, because you are requesting evilly, that you should be spending it on your gratifications."
