²⁷ There is no king for the locust, Yet its entire force goes forth in divisions;"

⁴ For if you refuse to dismiss My people, behold Me bringing the locusts swarm tomorrow into your boundary, ⁵ and it will cover the eye of the land, so that none can see the land, and it will eat the delivered leavings, whatever remained for you from the hail. It will eat every tree which is sprouting for you from the field. ⁶ Your houses will be full and the houses of all your servants and the houses of all the Egyptians, such as your fathers and your fathers' fathers had not seen, from the day they came to be on the ground until this day. Then he turned around and went forth from Pharaoh.

¹³ So Moses stretched out his rod over the land of Egypt, and Yahweh drove an east wind into the land all that day and all the night. The morning came, and the east wind carried the locust swarm along. ¹⁴ Then the locust swarm ascended over all the land of Egypt, and it rested within the entire boundary of Egypt, exceedingly heavy. Before it there had not come to be a locust swarm so great as it, and after it none shall come to be so. ¹⁵ It covered the eye of all the land, and the land was darkened. And it devoured all the herbage of the land and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left, so that no green at all was left on the trees nor on the herbage of the field in all the land of Egypt.

³⁴ He spoke, and the locust came, And the young-locust and they were without number."

⁴ The leavings of the larva, the locust eats, and the leavings of the locust, the grub of the beetle eats, and the leavings of the grub, the beetle eats."

⁶ For a nation comes up on My land, staunch and numberless; its teeth are the teeth of a lion, and it has fangs of a parent lion." ⁷ It brings My vine to a desolation and My fig to a stripping of bark. Utterly it bares it and flings it away; its intertwining branches are whitened.

⁷ As masters are they running. As mortals of war are they ascending a wall. And they are going, each man in his own ways, and their paths are not crossing." ⁸ And they are not jostling, each man his brother; they are going, each master in his file, and about the javelin they are falling in; they are not clipping their ranks." ⁹ In the city are they prowling; on the wall are they running; into the houses are they ascending; through the windows are they entering, as a thief." ¹⁰ Before it the earth is disturbed; the heavens quake, the sun and the moon are somber, and the stars gather in their brightness." ¹¹ And Yahweh gives forth His voice before His army, for exceedingly numerous is His camp, for staunch is the doer of His word. For great is the day of Yahweh and exceedingly fearful, and who shall endure it?

²⁵ I will repay to you for the years which the locust devoured, the grub and the beetle and the larva, My great army which I sent among you."

³ And out of the fumes came out locusts into the earth, and license was granted them as the scorpions of the earth have license." ⁴ And it was declared to them that they should not be injuring the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree, except those of mankind who have not the seal of God on their foreheads." ⁵ And it was granted to them, not that they should be killing them, but that they shall be tormented five months; and their torment is as the torment of a scorpion, whenever it should be striking a man." ⁶ And in those days men will be seeking death, and under no circumstances shall they be finding it. And they will be yearning to die, and death is fleeing from them." ⁷ And the likenesses of the locusts are like horses made ready for battle, and on their heads are as it were wreaths like gold, and their faces are as it were human faces, ⁸ and they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth are as if they were lions'." ⁹ And they had cuirasses, as it were cuirasses of iron, and the sound of their wings is as the sound of many chariot horses racing into battle." ¹⁰ And they have tails like scorpions, and stings, and their license is to injure mankind five months with their tails." ¹¹ They have a king over them-the messenger of the submerged chaos. His Hebrew name is Abaddon, and in Greek he has the name Apollyon."
