¹¹ As a vulture rouses up its nest, hovers over its fledglings, spreads its wings, takes it, bears it on its pinions, ¹² thus Yahweh alone guided him, and with him was no foreign el;"

¹² May Yahweh repay your deeds. May your reward be equitable from Yahweh the Elohim of Israel, under Whose wings you have come to take refuge.

²¹ And they conspire against him, and stone him with stones by the command of the king, in the court of the house of Yahweh, ²² and Joash the king has not remembered the kindness that Jehoiada his father did with him, and slays his son, and in his death he said, `Yahweh does see, and require..

¹⁵ And Yahweh, Elohim of their fathers, sends unto them by the hand of His messengers--rising early and sending--for He has had pity on His people, and on His habitation, ¹⁶ and they are mocking at the messengers of Elohim, and despising His words, and acting deceitfully with His prophets, till the going up of the fury of Yahweh against His people--till there is no healing.

²⁶ `And they are disobedient, and rebel against You, and cast Your law behind their back, and Your prophets they have slain, who testified against them, to bring them back unto You, and they do great despisings,

⁸ Keep me as the pupil of Your eye; Conceal me in the shadow of Your wings

⁷ How precious is Your benignity, O Elohim, So that the sons of humanity may take refuge in the shadow of Your wings."

⁸ Hear, My people, and I will testify among you; O Israel, if you would but hearken to Me;" ⁹ An alien el shall not come among you, And you shall not bow down to a foreign el." ¹⁰ I, Yahweh, am your Elohim, Who brought you up from the country of Egypt; Open wide your mouth, and I shall fill it." ¹¹ Yet My people would not hearken to My voice, And Israel would not comply with Me."

⁴ With His pinions shall He overshadow you, And under His wings shall you take refuge; A large shield and encircling-guard is His faithfulness."

²⁴ Because I called, and you refused, I stretched out my hand, and no one attended, ²⁵ And you renounced all my counsel, And you would not heed my reproof, ²⁶ Indeed, I myself shall ridicule you in your calamity; I shall deride when alarm comes upon you, ²⁷ When alarm comes upon you like a tumult, And calamity, it arrives upon you like a sweeping whirlwind, When distress and constraint come upon you." ²⁸ Then they shall call me, yet I shall not answer; They shall seek me early, yet shall not find me." ²⁹ Because they hated knowledge And would not choose the fear of Yahweh, ³⁰ They would not heed my counsel, They spurned all my correction, ³¹ Thus they shall eat of the fruit of their way, And they shall be surfeited with the results of their counsels."

² For what reason, when I came, was there no man? I called, and there was no answer? Is My hand too short to ransom? Or should no vigor be in Me to rescue? Behold! By My rebuke will I drain the sea; I will convert streams into a wilderness. Their fish will dry up, because there is no water, and they will die from thirst."

³⁰ In vain I have smitten your sons, Instruction they have not accepted, Devoured has your sword your prophets, As a destroying lion."

¹⁴ Wash from evil your heart, O Jerusalem, That you may be saved, Till when do you lodge in your heart Thoughts of your strength?

⁸ Be instructed, O Jerusalem, Lest My soul be alienated from you, Lest I make you a desolation, a land not inhabited."

¹⁶ Thus said Yahweh:Stand you by the ways and see, and ask for paths of old, Where [is] this--the good way? and go you in it, And find rest for yourselves. And they say, `We do not go.'" <sup>17</sup> And I have raised up for you watchmen, Attend you to the voice of the trumpet. And they say, `We do not attend.'"

⁷ For I certainly testified against your fathers, In the day of My bringing them up out of the land of Egypt--till this day, Rising early and testifying, saying, Hearken to My voice, ⁸ And they have not hearkened nor inclined their ear, And they walk each in the stubbornness of their evil heart, And I bring on them all the words of this covenant, That I commanded to do, and they did not.'"

³ `From the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah, and unto this day--this three and twentieth year--has the word of Yahweh been unto me, and I speak unto you, rising early and speaking, and you have not hearkened;" <sup>4</sup> And Yahweh has sent unto you all His servants, the prophets, rising early and sending, and you have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear, saying:" <sup>5</sup> `Turn back, I pray you, each from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell on the ground that Yahweh has given to you and to your fathers from eon unto eon, ⁶ And you do not go after other elohims to serve them, and to bow yourselves to them, nor do you provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands, and I do no evil to you;" ⁷ And you have not hearkened unto Me--an affirmation of Yahweh--so as to provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands for evil to you.

²³ And they bring out Urijah from Egypt, and bring him in unto the king Jehoiakim, and he smites him with a sword, and casts his corpse unto the graves of the sons of the people.'"

¹⁵ And I send unto you all My servants the prophets, rising early and sending, saying:Turn back, I pray you, each from his evil way, and amend your doings, yea, you do not walk after other elohims, to serve them, and dwell you on the ground that I have given to you and to your fathers; and you have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto Me."

⁹ and he said unto them, `Thus said Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, unto whom you sent me, to cause your supplication to fall before Him:" <sup>10</sup> `If you do certainly dwell in this land, then I have builded you up, and I throw not down; and I have planted you, and I pluck not up; for I have repented concerning the evil that I have done to you." ¹¹ Be not afraid of the king of Babylon, whom you are afraid of; be not afraid of him--an affirmation of Yahweh--for with you [am] I, to save you, and to deliver you from his hand." ¹² And I give to you mercies, and he has pitied you, and caused you to turn back unto your own ground." ¹³ `And if you are saying, We do not dwell in this land--not to hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim,

⁴ `And I send unto you all my servants, the prophets, rising early and sending, saying:I pray you, do not this abomination that I have hated--"

² As I call to them, so they go from My presence. To Baals they are sacrificing, and to carvings they are fuming incense."

⁷ My people are hung on backsliding from Me; though they are proclaiming Him as the Supreme, not one is exalting Him."

⁴ You must not become as your forefathers, to whom the former prophets called saying, Thus says Yahweh of hosts:Return, I pray, from your evil ways, and from your evil actions. Yet they hearkened not, and they attended not to Me, (averring is Yahweh)."

¹² Rejoice and exult, for your wages are vast in the heavens. For thus they persecute the prophets before you.

³⁵ And the farmers, taking his slaves, indeed, lash one, yet kill one, yet pelt one with stones." ³⁶ Again he dispatches other slaves, more than the first. And they do to them similarly."

³ And he dispatches his slaves to call those invited to the wedding festivities, and they would not come."

⁶ Yet the rest, taking hold of his slaves, outrage and kill them."

³⁰ and you are saying, 'If we were in the days of our fathers, we would not be participants with them in the blood of the prophets.'"

³ And taking him, they lash him and dispatch him empty." ⁴ And again he dispatches to them another slave, and that one, pelting with stones, they hit his head and dispatch him in dishonor." ⁵ And again another he dispatches, and that one they kill, and many others, lashing these, indeed, yet killing those." ⁶ Still one had he, a son, his beloved. He dispatches him also, last, to them, saying that 'They will be respecting my son.'"

³⁴ Jerusalem! Jerusalem! killing the prophets and pelting with stones those who have been dispatched to her! How many times do I want to assemble your children in the manner a hen does her brood under her wings, and you will not!" ³⁵ Lo! left to you is your house. Yet I am saying to you that by no means may you be perceiving Me till the time will be arriving when you should be saying, 'Blessed is He Who is coming in the name of the Lord!'"

¹⁷ And he dispatches his slave at the dinner hour to say to those invited, 'Come, for already, it is ready!'" ¹⁸ And they all begin, from one motive, to make excuse. The first said to him, 'I buy a field, and I have felt the necessity of coming out to see it. I am asking you to have me excused.'" ¹⁹ And a different one said, 'I buy five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I am asking you to have me excused.'" ²⁰ And a different one said, 'I marry a wife, and therefore I can not come.'"

²⁸ Now he is indignant and would not enter. Yet his father, coming out, entreated him."

¹⁴ Now his citizens hated him, and they dispatch an embassy after him, saying, 'We do not want this man to reign over us!'" ¹⁵ And, obtaining the kingdom, it occurred at his coming back, that he said also to summon to him these slaves to whom he had given the silver, that he may know what business they do." ¹⁶ Now along came the first, saying, 'Lord, your mina earns ten minas.'" ¹⁷ And he said to him, 'Well done, surely, good slave! Seeing that you became faithful in the least, be having authority over ten cities.'" ¹⁸ And the second came, saying, 'Your mina, lord, makes five minas.'" ¹⁹ Now he said to this one also, 'And you, be over five cities.'" ²⁰ And a different one came, saying, 'Lord, lo! your mina which I had, reserved in a handkerchief." ²¹ For I feared you, seeing that you are a harsh man. You are picking up what you do not lay down and reaping what you do not sow.'" ²² Now he is saying to him, 'Out of your mouth will I judge you, wicked slave! You were aware that I am a harsh man, picking up what I do not lay down and reaping what I do not sow." ²³ And wherefore do you not give my silver to the bank, and I, coming, would utilize it together with interest?'" ²⁴ And to those standing by he said, 'Take away the mina from him and give it to him who has the ten minas.'" ²⁵ And they say to him, 'Lord, he has ten minas!'" ²⁶ For I am saying to you that to everyone who has, shall be given, yet from him who has not, that also which he has shall be taken away from him." ²⁷ However, these, my enemies, who are not willing for me to reign over them-lead them here and slay them in front of me.'" ²⁸ And, saying these things, He went in front, going up into Jerusalem." ²⁹ And it occurred, as He nears Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called Olivet, He dispatches two of His disciples, ³⁰ saying, "Go away into the village facing you, in which, entering, you will be finding a colt bound, on which no man ever is seated, and loosing it, be leading it to Me. " ³¹ And if anyone should be asking you, 'Wherefore are you loosing it?' thus shall you be declaring to him, that 'The Lord has need of it.'" ³² Now, coming away, those who have been dispatched found it according as He said to them." ³³ Now, at their loosing the colt, its masters say to them, "Why are you loosing the colt? ³⁴ Now they say that "The Lord has need of it." ³⁵ And they led it to Jesus, and tossing their garments on the colt, they mount Jesus." ³⁶ Now, at His going, they strewed their garments under Him in the road." ³⁷ Now at His already drawing near to the descent of the mount of Olives, the entire multitude of the disciples begins rejoicing, praising God with a loud voice concerning all the powerful deeds which they perceived, ³⁸ saying, "Blessed be the King coming in the name of the Lord! In heaven peace, and glory among the highest!" ³⁹ And some of the Pharisees from the throng say to Him, "Teacher, rebuke your disciples!" ⁴⁰ And answering, He said to them, "I am saying to you that if ever these will be silent, the stones will be crying." ⁴¹ And as He draws near, perceiving the city, He laments over it, ⁴² saying that, "If you knew, even you, and surely in this day, what is for your peace-! Yet now it was hid from your eyes, ⁴³ for the days will be arriving on you, and your enemies will be casting up a rampart about you, and will be surrounding you, and will be pressing you everywhere, ⁴⁴ and will be leveling you and your children in you, and they will not be leaving a stone on a stone in you, because you knew not the era of your visitation."

¹¹ And, in addition, he sent a different slave. Yet that one also, lashing and dishonoring, those men send away empty." ¹² And, in addition, he sent a third. Yet wounding this one also, those men cast him out." ¹³ Now the lord of the vineyard said, 'What shall I be doing? I shall be sending my son, the beloved. Him they will be respecting equally with me.'" ¹⁴ Now on perceiving him, the farmers reasoned with one another, saying, 'This is the enjoyer of the allotment. Hither! We should be killing him, that the enjoyer of the allotment may become ours.'"

⁵¹ Stiff-necked and uncircumcised in your hearts and ears, you are ever clashing with the holy spirit! As your fathers, you also!" ⁵² Which of the prophets do not your fathers persecute? And they kill those who announce before concerning the coming of the Just One, of Whom now you became the traitors and murderers -"

¹⁵ who kill the Lord Jesus as well as the prophets, and banish us, and are not pleasing to God, and are contrary to all men,

⁷ And whenever they should be finishing their testimony, the wild beast which is ascending out of the submerged chaos will be doing battle with them and will be conquering them and killing them." ⁸ And their corpses will be at the square of the great city which, spiritually, is being called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord, also, was crucified."

⁶ And I perceive the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. And I marvel at perceiving her. The marvel is great!"
