¹⁶ indeed, I Myself shall do this to you:I will visit panic upon you, attenuation and fever, making the eyesight vanish and causing the soul to pine; and you will sow your seed for naught, for your enemies will eat it.

²⁶ for He said: If you shall hearken, yea hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim and do what is upright in His eyes, and give ear to His instructions and observe all His statutes, then all the illnesses which I placed on the Egyptians I shall not place on you, for I am Yahweh your Healer.

²¹ Yahweh shall cause the plague to cling to you until He finishes you off the ground where you are entering to tenant it. ²² Yahweh shall smite you with attenuation, with fever and inflammation, with hot heat and drought, with blasting and mildew, and they will pursue you until you perish.

³² Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people, and your eyes shall be staring and wasting away for them all the day, yet there will be nothing at the disposal of your hand. ³³ A people you do not know shall devour the fruit of your ground and all your labor, and you will surely be extorted and bruised all the days, ³⁴ so that you will become mad because of the sight of your eyes that you shall see. ³⁵ Yahweh shall smite you with an evil boil on both the knees and on both the legs, of which you cannot be healed, from the sole of your foot and unto your scalp.

⁵¹ It will devour the fruit of your beast and the fruit of your ground until you are exterminated, a nation who shall not let grain, grape juice or clarified oil, the calving of your domestic animals or the lambing of your flock remain for you, until it destroys you.

⁶⁵ And among those nations you shall neither find respite, nor shall there be a resting place for the sole of your foot, and Yahweh will give to you there a disturbed heart, a failure of the eyes and pining of the soul. ⁶⁶ Then your lives will come to be hung in suspense in front of you. You will be afraid by night and by day, and you shall not put trust in your lives. ⁶⁷ In the morning you shall say:O that it were evening! And in the evening you shall say:O that it were morning! because of the awe of your heart with which you shall be afraid and because of the sight of your eyes which you shall see.

²⁵ From the outside, the sword shall bereave, and from the chambers, the dread of war, even for the man in his prime, even for the virgin, the suckling along with the grey-haired man.

³ And it has been, if Israel has sowed, that Midian has come up, and Amalek, and the sons of the east, yea, they have come up against him, ⁴ and encamp against them, and destroy the increase of the land till your entering Gaza; and they leave no sustenance in Israel, either sheep, or ox, or ass;" ⁵ for they and their cattle come up, with their tents; they come in as the fulness of the locust for multitude, and of them and of their cattle there is no number, and they come into the land to destroy it. ⁶ And Israel is very weak from the presence of Midian, and the sons of Israel cry unto Yahweh.

¹¹ And the messenger of Yahweh comes and sits under the oak which [is] in Ophrah, which [is] to Joash the Abi-Ezrite, and Gideon his son is beating out wheat in the wine-press, to remove [it] from the presence of the Midianites;"

³³ `And the man I cut not off of your from Mine altar, [is] to consume your eyes, and to grieve your soul; and all the increase of your house do die men;"

²⁰ All the days of the wicked man, he is travailing, Even throughout the number of years that are set aside for the terrifier. ²¹ The sound of alarming things is in his ears; When at peace, the devastator comes against him.

¹¹ Decadent things frighten him round about, And they hound him at his every footstep.

²⁵ It will be pulled out and be brought forth from his body, And a flashing blade from his bile; Dread shall come over him.

⁸ Then let me sow and another eat, And may my offspring be rooted out.

¹⁹ How they will become a desolation, as in a moment! They will be swept up; they will be finished by decadence!"

³³ So He ended their days in failure, And their years in panic."

⁶ Post a wicked person over him, And let an adversary stand at his right hand."

² And it is being told the house of David, saying, "Guided is Syria over Ephraim.And swaying is his heart, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wildwood sway from facing the wind."

⁴ Barring one bows under a prisoner, or under the killed, they shall fall. And in all this His anger does not reverse, and His hand is outstretched still!"

²² They will not build, and another dwell; they will not plant, and another eat. For as the days of the tree of life are the days of My people, and their handiwork shall be worn out by My chosen." ²³ They shall not labor for naught, nor shall they generate for decadence. For the seed of the blessed of Yahweh are they, and their offspring with them." ²⁴ And it comes, ere they are calling, then I will answer; they are still speaking when I will hearken."

¹⁷ And it has consumed your harvest and your bread, They consume your sons, and your daughters, It consumes your flock, and your herd, It consumes your vine, and your fig-tree, It makes poor your fenced cities, In which you are trusting--by the sword."

¹³ They sowed wheat, and have thorns reaped, They have become sick--they profit not, And they have been ashamed of your increases, Because of the fierceness of the anger of Yahweh."

⁸ Its widows have been more to Me than the sand of the seas, I brought in to them--against the mother--A young man--a spoiler--at noon. I caused to fall upon her suddenly, wrath and trouble."

⁴ For thus said Yahweh:Lo, I am making you for a fear to yourself, And to all loving you, And they have fallen by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes are beholding, And all Judah I give into the hand of the king of Babylon, And he has removed them to Babylon, And he has smitten them with the sword."

¹⁰ And you, son of man, say unto the house of Israel:Rightly you have spoken, saying:Surely our transgressions and our sins [are] on us, And in them we are wasting away, How, then, do we live?

¹⁵ You shall sow, yet not reap. You shall tread olives, yet not rub with oil, and grape juice, yet you shall not drink wine."

⁶ You have sown for increase, yet it brings in little. You eat, yet without satisfaction; drink, yet without gratification; are clothed, yet without warmth to it. And the hireling's hire goes into a pierced pouch."

¹² And this shall come to be the stroke with which Yahweh will strike all the peoples who mustered their hosts against Jerusalem:Putrefied is their flesh, yet they are standing on their feet, and their eyes shall putrefy in their holes, and their tongue shall putrefy in their mouths."

³¹ Fearful is it to be falling into the hands of the living God!
