¹³ These you shall regard as abominable among the flyers; they shall not be eaten; they are an abomination:the vulture, the bearded vulture and the eagle,

¹² yet these are those of which you shall not eat:the vulture, the bearded vulture and the eagle, ¹³ the black kite and the falcon, all of its kind, ¹⁴ and every raven, all of its kind, ¹⁵ the ostrich, the screech owl, the gull and the hawk, all of its kind, ¹⁶ the little owl, the eagle owl and the ibis, ¹⁷ the pelican, the Egyptian vulture and the cormorant, ¹⁸ the stork and the heron, all of its kind, the hoopoe and the bat. ¹⁹ Every swarmer of the flyers, it is unclean to you. They shall not be eaten. ²⁰ Every clean flyer you may eat.

⁷ That track, the bird of prey does not know it, And the eye of the falcon has never glanced at it;"

⁴¹ Who prepares its provision for the raven, When its young implore to El, Which stray without food?

²⁷ Or is it by your bidding that the vulture soars aloft, And that he makes his nest so high? ²⁸ He roosts on a crag and lodges himself On the tooth of a crag and a fastness; ²⁹ From there he reconnoiters for food; His eyes scrutinize far off; ³⁰ His brood imbibe the blood, And where there are bodies wounded to death, there he is.

¹³ Lo, as clouds he comes up, And as a hurricane his chariots, Lighter than eagles have been his horses, Woe to us, for we have been spoiled."

²² For my people [are] foolish, me they have not known, Foolish sons [are] they, yea, they [are] not intelligent, Wise [are] they to do evil, And to do good they have not known."

⁴⁰ For thus said Yahweh:Lo, as an eagle he does flee, And has spread his wings unto Moab."

¹⁹ Our pursuers have become fleeter than the vultures of the heavens; They dash after us upon the mountains; they lie in ambush for us in the wilderness.

¹ To your mouth with the trumpet! One as a vulture is over the house of Yahweh, because they trespass against My covenant, and against My law they transgress."

⁸ His horses are fleeter than leopards and sharper than evening wolves, and his horsemen are diffused; and his horsemen will come from far. They will fly as a vulture that hurries to eat."

²⁸ Wheresoever the corpse may be, there will the vultures be gathered."

²⁸ And according as they do not test God, to have Him in recognition, God gives them over to a disqualified mind, to do that which is not befitting, ²⁹ filled with all injustice, wickedness, evil, greed, distended with envy, murder, strife, guile, depravity, whisperers, ³⁰ vilifiers, detesters of God, outragers, proud, ostentatious, inventors of evil things, stubborn to parents, ³¹ unintelligent, perfidious, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:" ³² those who, recognizing the just statute of God, that those committing such things are deserving of death, not only are doing them, but are endorsing, also, those who are committing them."

¹³ A sepulcher opened is their throat. With their tongues they defraud."The venom of asps is under their lips." ¹⁴ Whose mouth with imprecation and bitterness is crammed. ¹⁵ Sharp are their feet to shed blood. ¹⁶ Bruises and wretchedness are in their ways, ¹⁷ And the way of peace they do not know."

³ For we also were once foolish, stubborn, deceived, slaves of various desires and gratifications, leading a life in malice and envy, detestable, hating one another."
