²⁰ this we do to them, and have kept them alive, and wrath is not upon us, because of the oath which we have sworn to them..

¹ And there is a famine in the days of David three years, year after year, and David seeks the face of Yahweh, and Yahweh said, `For Saul and for the bloody house, because that he put to death the Gibeonites.. <sup>2</sup> And the king calls for the Gibeonites, and said unto them--as to the Gibeonites, they [are] not of the sons of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorite, and the sons of Israel had sworn to them, and Saul seeks to smite them in his zeal for the sons of Israel and Judah-. <sup>3</sup> yea, David said unto the Gibeonites, `What do I do for you? and with what do I make atonement? and bless you the inheritance of Yahweh.. ⁴ And the Gibeonites say to him, `We have no silver and gold by Saul and by his house, and we have no man to put to death in Israel;' and he said, `What you are saying I do to you.. ⁵ And they say unto the king, `The man who consumed us, and who devised against us--we have been destroyed from stationing ourselves in all the border of Israel-. <sup>6</sup> let there be given to us seven men of his sons, and we have hanged them before Yahweh, in the height of Saul, the chosen of Yahweh.' And the king said, `I do give;.

¹³ and also, against king Nebuchadnezzar he has rebelled, who had caused him to swear by Elohim, and he hardens his neck, and strengthens his heart, against turning back unto Yahweh, Elohim of Israel.

²⁵ It is a trap when a man is rash to pledge a holy donation, And only after making his vows to make a quest into it."

¹² `Say, I pray you, to the rebellious house, Have you not known what these [are]? Say, Lo, come has the king of Babylon to Jerusalem, And he takes its king, and its princes, And brings them to himself to Babylon." ¹³ And he takes of the seed of the kingdom, And makes with him a covenant, And brings him in to an oath, And the mighty of the land he has taken, ¹⁴ That the kingdom may be humble, That it may not lift itself up, To keep his covenant--that it may stand." ¹⁵ And he rebels against him, To send his messengers to Egypt, To give to him horses, and much people, Does he prosper? does he escape who is doing these things? And has he broken covenant and escaped? ¹⁶ I live--an affirmation of the Lord Yahweh, Does he not--in the place of the king who is causing him to reign, Whose oath he has despised, And whose covenant he has broken, With him--in the midst of Babylon--die? ¹⁷ And not with a great force, and with a numerous assembly, Does Pharaoh maintain him in battle, By pouring out a mount, and in building a fortification, To cut off many souls." ¹⁸ And he despised the oath--to break covenant, And lo, he has given his hand, And all these he has done, he escapes not." ¹⁹ Therefore, thus said the Lord Yahweh:I live--Mine oath that he has despised, And My covenant that he has broken, Have I not put it on his head? ²⁰ And I have spread out for him My snare, And he has been caught in My net, And I have brought him in to Babylon, And pleaded with him there his trespass, That he has trespassed against Me." ²¹ And all his fugitives, with all his bands, By sword do fall, and those remaining, To every wind they are spread out, And you have known that I, Yahweh, have spoken."

³ And he is saying to me, This is the execration which is faring forth over the surface of the entire land, for every thief, henceforth as death doomed shall be visited with vengeance, and every swearer, henceforth as death doomed shall be visited with vengeance." ⁴ I will bring it forth, (averring is Yahweh of hosts), and it enters into the house of the thief, and into the house of him who swears in My name falsely, and it lodges in the midst of his house, and it consumes it and its timbers and its stones."

⁵ Then I will come near to you for judgment, and become a hastening witness against the enchanters and against the adulterers, and against those who are swearing in My name to falsehood, and against those extorting the hire of the hireling, and those tyrannizing over the widow and taunting the orphan, and turning aside the sojourner, and do not fear Me, says Yahweh of hosts."

³¹ unintelligent, perfidious, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:"
