⁷ and they cry unto Yahweh, and He sets thick darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brings on them the sea, and covers them, and your eyes see that which I have done in Egypt; and you dwell in a wilderness many days.

¹⁰ So Pharaoh, he drew near. Then the sons of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were journeying after them. Now they became exceedingly fearful, and the sons of Israel cried to Yahweh.

²⁰ Thus he came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel. Over there came the cloud and darkness, yet here he lightened up the night. So this one did not come near to that one all the night.

²⁷ So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned before morning to its perennial flow, while the Egyptians were fleeing to meet it. Thus Yahweh shook off the Egyptians, in the midst of the sea, ²⁸ for the waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen, all the army of Pharaoh which had been entering after them into the sea. Not even one of them remained.

³¹ and Israel discerned the great hand with which Yahweh had done this to Egypt. So the people feared Yahweh and believed in Yahweh and in Moses His servant.

³³ and your sons shall be shepherds in the wilderness for forty years, and they will bear your prostitutions until your corpses are spent in the wilderness. ³⁴ By the number of the days in which you explored the land, forty days, a day for a year, a day for a year, shall you bear your depravities:forty years; thus you will realize My repudiation.

⁴⁶ So you dwelt at Kadesh many days, according to the days which you dwelt.

³⁴ Or has an elohim ever tried to come and take for himself a nation from among another nation by trials, by signs and by miracles, by war, by a steadfast hand and by an outstretched arm and by great fear-inspiring deeds, such as all that Yahweh your Elohim did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

² Moses called to all Israel and said to them:You saw all that Yahweh did before your eyes in the country of Egypt to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his country,

⁶ for forty years have the sons of Israel gone in the wilderness, till all the nation of the men of war who are coming out of Egypt, who hearkened not to the voice of Yahweh, to whom Yahweh has sworn not to show them the land which Yahweh sware to their fathers to give to us, a land flowing with milk and honey, are consumed;"

¹² And by a pillar of cloud You have led them by day, and by a pillar of fire by night, to lighten to them the way in which they go. ¹³ `And on mount Sinai You have come down, even to speak with them from the heavens, and You do give to them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commands. <sup>14</sup> And Your holy sabbath You have made known to them, and commands, and statutes, and law, You have commanded for them, by the hand of Moses Your servant;" <sup>15</sup> and bread from the heavens You have given to them for their hunger, and water from a rock have brought out to them for their thirst, and do say to them to go in to possess the land that You have lifted up Your hand to give to them. <sup>16</sup> `And they and our fathers have acted proudly, and harden their neck, and have not hearkened unto Your commands, ¹⁷ yea, they refuse to hearken, and have not remembered Your wonders that You have done with them, and harden their neck and appoint a head, to turn back to their service, in their rebellion; and You [are] a Eloah of pardons, gracious, and merciful, long-suffering, and abundant in kindness, and have not forsaken them. ¹⁸ `Also, when they have made to themselves a molten calf, and say, this [is] your elohim that brought you up out of Egypt, and do great despisings, <sup>19</sup> and You, in Your abundant mercies, have not forsaken them in the wilderness--the pillar of the cloud has not turned aside from off them by day, to lead them in the way, and the pillar of the fire by night, to give light to them and the way in which they go. <sup>20</sup> `And Your good Spirit You have given, to cause them to act wisely; and Your manna You have not withheld from their mouth, and water You have given to them for their thirst, ²¹ and forty years You have nourished them in a wilderness; they have not lacked; their garments have not worn out, and their feet have not swelled.

⁹ Where your fathers probed Me and tested Me, Though they had seen My deeds." ¹⁰ Forty years I was disgusted with this generation, And I said, They are a people straying in heart, And they give no thought to My ways."

¹⁷ The God of this people Israel chooses our fathers, and exalts the people in the sojourn in the land of Egypt, and with a high arm He led them out of it." ¹⁸ And for about forty years' time He carries them, as a nurse, in the wilderness."

¹⁷ Now with whom is He disgusted forty years? Was it not with those who sin, whose carcasses fall in the wilderness?
