⁴⁵ and Abimelech has fought against the city all that day, and captures the city, and the people who [are] in it he has slain, and he breaks down the city, and sows it [with] salt.

² And the captain whom the king has, by whose hand he has been supported, answers the man of Elohim and said, `Lo, Yahweh is making windows in the heavens--shall this thing be?' and he said, `Lo, you are seeing it with your eyes, and thereof you do not eat..

¹⁹ and the captain answers the man of Elohim, and said, `And lo, Yahweh is making windows in the heavens--it is according to this word?' and he said, `Lo, you are seeing with your eyes, and thereof you do not eat;. ²⁰ and it comes to him so, and the people tread him down in the gate, and he dies.

¹¹ Can papyrus grow without a marsh? Can marsh grass grow great having no water? ¹² Even while it is in its full pollination, though it be not plucked, Yet it would dry up before all other grass. ¹³ So are the paths laid for all those forgetting El, And so the expectation of the polluted shall perish,

³⁰ He shall not be taken away from darkness; The blaze shall dry up his young shoot, And his bud shall be taken away by the wind. ³¹ No one may rely upon such futility; He shall be led astray, For futility shall become his remuneration. ³² When not yet its day, his palm tree shall be snipped off, And its fronds shall not be flourishing. ³³ Like a vine he shall cast down his unripe grape, And he shall fling off his blossom like an olive. ³⁴ For the congregation of the polluted is stark, And fire devours the tents of bribery.

¹⁷ He shall not see the rillets, The streams of watercourses flowing with honey and clotted cream.

⁶ Whose home I have constituted the steppe, And the salty wastes as his habitat?

⁴ Not so the wicked, But rather they are like the trash that the wind whisks away.

⁷ The wicked bud like herbage, And all contrivers of lawlessness blossom, But only that they be exterminated until the future,

⁶ They shall become like grass on the housetops, Which dries up before it unfurls, ⁷ With which neither the one reaping can fill his palm, Nor the one binding sheaves his bosom pouch." ⁸ And those passing by do not even say, Yahweh's blessing be on you. Yet we do bless you all in the Name of Yahweh."

³⁰ For you shall become as a terebinth with leaf decay, and as a garden for which there is no water."

⁶ Flee you, deliver yourselves, You are as a naked thing in a wilderness."

¹¹ Its miry and its marshy places--they are not healed; to salt they have been given up.

⁹ Therefore, Living am I, (averring is Yahweh of hosts, the Elohim of Israel), for:Moab shall become as Sodom, and the sons of Ammon as Gomorrah:A tenancy of prickly acanthus, and salt diggings, and a desolation till the eon. The remnant of My people shall plunder them, and the rest of My nation shall allot them."
