¹⁰ Many shepherds did destroy My vineyard, They have trodden down My portion, They have made My desirable portion Become a wilderness--a desolation."

⁸ You caused a vine to journey from Egypt; You drove out the nations, and You planted it." ⁹ You cleared out the way before it, So that it rooted its roots and filled the land." ¹⁰ The mountains were covered by its shadow, And the cedars of El by its boughs." ¹¹ It sent its harvest branches unto the Sea, And its young shoots to the Stream." ¹² Why have You breached its stone dikes, So that all who are passing by the way nip off its fruit? ¹³ The boar from the wildwood gorges on it, And the field mammal, it grazes upon it." ¹⁴ O Elohim of hosts, return, I pray; Look down from the heavens and see, And note this vine, ¹⁵ Even the sprig that Your right hand has planted; And watch over the son You have made resolute for Yourself. ¹⁶ It is burned with fire, obliterated; At the rebuke of Your countenance they are perishing."

¹ Singing, pray, to My darling am I, a song of My affection for My vineyard:A vineyard becomes My darling's on a horn-like fertile hill, a stone dike am I placing around it, and a rampart I make, ² and it is being cultivated and its stones thrown out. And it is being planted with a yellow muscat. And I am building a tower in its midst, and, moreover, a wine vat I hew in it, and I am expecting it to yield grapes, yet it is yielding stinking fruit? ³ And now, dweller of Jerusalem, and man of Judah, judge, pray, between Me and My vineyard, ⁴ what is there to do further for My vineyard, that I have not done for it? For what reason, when I expect it to yield grapes, yet it is yielding stinking fruit? ⁵ And now, pray, I shall make known to you what I will do to My vineyard:I will take away its hedge, and it comes to be consumed. I breach its stone dike, and it comes to be tramped." ⁶ And I am making My vineyard into a chaos, and it is not being pruned. And not being hoed, and up come buckthorn and spines. And I am instructing the thick clouds over it to keep from raining rain on it." ⁷ For the vineyard of Yahweh of hosts is the house of Israel, and each man of Judah His plant delectable. And He is expecting judgment, and behold! Transgression! Righteousness, and behold! A cry!"

²⁸ And I will violate the chiefs of My holy place. And I will give Jacob to doom, and Israel to taunts."

¹⁸ Why do the wicked march in Your holy place; our foes trample Your sanctuary?

¹⁹ And I have said, How do I put you among the sons, And give to you a desirable land, A beauteous inheritance of the hosts of nations, And I say, My father--you do call to Me, And from after Me you do not turn back."

³ Unto her come do shepherds and their droves, They have stricken tents by her round about, They have fed each [in] his own station."

¹ Woe to shepherds destroying, And scattering the flock of My pasture, An affirmation of Yahweh."

⁹ Lo, I am sending, and have taken all the families of the north--an affirmation of Yahweh--even unto Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, My servant, and have brought them in against this land, and against its inhabitants, and against all these nations round about, and have devoted them, and appointed them for an astonishment, and for a hissing, and for wastes eonian."

³ and come in do all the heads of the king of Babylon, and they sit at the middle gate, Nergal-Sharezer, Samgar-Nebo, Sarsechim, chief of the eunuchs, Nergal-Sharezer, chief of the Mages, and all the rest of the heads of the king of Babylon."

¹⁰ The foe has spread out his hand over all her coveted things; Indeed she has seen the nations enter her sanctuary, Concerning whom You had instructed that they should not enter Your assembly." ¹¹ All her people are sighing, seeking bread; They have given their coveted things for food to restore the soul; See, O Yahweh, and look on me, for I have become abject."

⁹ Now He begins to be telling to the people this parable, "A certain man plants a vineyard and leased it to farmers, and travels a considerable time." ¹⁰ And in season he dispatches to the farmers a slave, that they shall give him of the fruit of the vineyard. Yet the farmers, lashing him, send him away empty." ¹¹ And, in addition, he sent a different slave. Yet that one also, lashing and dishonoring, those men send away empty." ¹² And, in addition, he sent a third. Yet wounding this one also, those men cast him out." ¹³ Now the lord of the vineyard said, 'What shall I be doing? I shall be sending my son, the beloved. Him they will be respecting equally with me.'" ¹⁴ Now on perceiving him, the farmers reasoned with one another, saying, 'This is the enjoyer of the allotment. Hither! We should be killing him, that the enjoyer of the allotment may become ours.'" ¹⁵ And, casting him outside of the vineyard, they kill him. What, then, will the lord of the vineyard be doing to them? ¹⁶ He will be coming and destroying these farmers and will be giving the vineyard to others.Now those hearing say, "May it not be coming to that!"

¹⁴ Ponder, then, in your hearts not to be premeditating a defense,

² And the court outside of the temple cast outside, and you should not be measuring it, for it was given to the nations, and the holy city will they be treading forty-two months."
