Isaiah 1:5 Cross References - CLV

⁵ For what are you being smitten still? You are continuing in stubbornness. All of the head is ill, and all of the heart languishes."

²² And in the time of his distress--he adds to trespass against Yahweh, (this king Ahaz),

³⁴ and our kings, our heads, our priests, and our fathers, have not done Your law, nor attended unto Your commands, and to Your testimonies, that You have testified against them;"

²³ Your chiefs are stubborn, and partners of thieves. Everyone loves a bribe, and pursues payments. The orphan they are not judging. And the contention of the widow is not coming to them."

¹³ Yet the people do not return unto their Smiter, and of Yahweh of hosts they do not inquire."

²¹ Manasseh will eat Ephraim and Ephraim Manasseh, and together they will dine on Judah. And in all this His anger does not reverse, and his hand is outstretched still!"

⁶ Return to Him Who deepens counsel, you stubborn sons of Israel!"

²⁴ And fail shall the tabernacler to say, "I am ill.The people dwelling in it; borne for them is their depravity."

³⁰ In vain I have smitten your sons, Instruction they have not accepted, Devoured has your sword your prophets, As a destroying lion."

³ Yahweh, Your eyes, are they not on stedfastness? You have smitten them, and they have not grieved, You have consumed them, They have refused to receive instruction, They made their faces harder than a rock, They have refused to turn back."

⁵ I get me to the great, and I speak with them, For they have known the way of Yahweh, The judgment of their Elohim.' Surely they together have broken the yoke, They have drawn away the bands."

³¹ The prophets have prophesied falsely, And the priests bear rule by their means, And My people have loved [it] so, And what do they at its latter end?

²⁸ All of them are turned aside by apostates, Walking slanderously--brass and iron, All of them are corrupters." ²⁹ The bellows have been burnt, By fire has the lead been consumed, In vain has a refiner refined, And the wicked have not been drawn away." ³⁰ `Silver rejected,' they have called to them, For Yahweh has kicked against them!"

³ And they bend their tongue, their bow [is] a lie, And not for stedfastness have they been mighty in the land, For from evil unto evil they have gone forth, And Me they have not known, An affirmation of Yahweh!"

¹³ In your uncleanness [is] wickedness, Because I have cleansed you, And you have not been cleansed, From your uncleanness you are not cleansed again, Till I have caused My fury to rest on you."

⁸ To Thee, Yahweh, is righteousness, yet to us is shamefacedness:To our kings, to our chiefs, to our forefathers, who sin against Thee." ⁹ Of Yahweh our Elohim are compassions and pardons; for we revolt against Him." ¹⁰ We do not hearken to the voice of Yahweh our Elohim, to go in His laws which He sets before us by the hand of His servants the prophets." ¹¹ All Israel--they trespass against Thy law to withdraw so as not to hearken to Thy voice. Hence pouring forth on us is the imprecation and the oath which is written in the law of Moses, the servant of Elohim; for we sin against Him."

¹ Woe to her that is rebellious and sullied, the tyrannizing city!" ² She hearkens not to a voice; she takes no discipline; in Yahweh she does not trust; to her Elohim she does not draw near. ³ Her chiefs within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they pick clean, leaving nothing for the morning." ⁴ Her prophets are ebullient, treacherous mortals; her priests profane the holy place; they wrong the law."

⁵ And you have been oblivious of the entreaty which is arguing with you as with sons: My son, do not disdain the discipline of the Lord, Nor yet faint when being exposed by Him." ⁶ For whom the Lord is loving He is disciplining, Yet He is scourging every son to whom He is assenting." ⁷ For discipline are you enduring. As to sons is God bringing it to you, for what son is there whom the father is not disciplining? ⁸ Now if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, consequently you are bastards and not sons."

⁸ And the fourth messenger pours out his bowl on the sun. And it was given to him to scorch mankind with fire. ⁹ And mankind is scorched with great heat, and they blaspheme the name of God, Who has the jurisdiction over these calamities, and they do not repent, to give Him glory." ¹⁰ And the fifth pours out his bowl on the throne of the wild beast. And its kingdom became dark; and they gnawed their tongues for misery ¹¹ and blaspheme the God of heaven for their miseries and for their ulcers; and they do not repent of their acts.
