And at toil are You looking, and devastation and violence are in front of me, and contention is coming to be, and quarreling am I bearing? ⁴ Therefore the law is torpid, and judgment is not faring forth permanently, for the wicked one is compassing about the righteous one; therefore tortuous judgment is faring forth." ⁵ See, despisers, and look, and be utterly amazed, for I contrive a contrivance in your days you will not believe though it were being related." ⁶ For, behold Me raising the Chaldeans, the bitter and hasty nation, going the widths of the earth to tenant tabernacles not his own." ⁷ Dreadful and fearful is he! His judgment and his dignity are faring forth from him. ⁸ His horses are fleeter than leopards and sharper than evening wolves, and his horsemen are diffused; and his horsemen will come from far. They will fly as a vulture that hurries to eat." ⁹ All of them will come for violence. The endeavor of their faces is toward the east; and they shall gather the captives as sand. ¹⁰ And he will scoff at kings, and chancellors will be sport to him; he will sport with every fortress and pile up soil and seize it." ¹¹ Then he will pass on as a wind, and he shall trespass and be guilty. This, his vigor, becomes his eloah." ¹² Are You not from aforetime, Yahweh? My Eloah, my Holy One, You shalt not die. Yahweh, for judgment do You place him, and, O Rock, for correction, You do found him." ¹³ You are of cleaner eyes than to see evil, and to look at toil You are not able. Why are You looking at the treacherous, are silent when the wicked swallow one up more righteous than he? ¹⁴ And You are making humanity as fish of the sea, as the moving animal with no ruler over it." ¹⁵ All of them he brings up with a fishhook; he is impounding them in his seine net and is gathering them in his dragnet, therefore his heart is rejoicing and exulting." ¹⁶ Therefore he is sacrificing to his seine net and is fuming incense to his dragnet, for his portion is stout by them, and his food plump." ¹⁷ Will he therefore empty his seine net, and not spare to kill the nations continually?

⁴ The Rock--flawless is His contrivance, for all His ways are righteous judgment. The El of faithfulness and without iniquity; just and upright is He.

³⁰ How could one pursue a thousand or two put a myriad to flight, if it were not that their Rock had sold them, and Yahweh had surrounded them? ³¹ For their rock is not like our Rock; even our enemies are umpires.

²⁵ Have you not heard from afar, it I made, From days of old that I formed it? Now I have brought it in, And it becomes a desolation, Ruinous heaps [are] fenced cities,

² and Yahweh sends against him the troops of the Chaldeans, and the troops of Aram, and the troops of Moab, and the troops of the sons of Ammon, and He sends them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of Yahweh, that He spoke by the hand of His servants the prophets;"

¹⁰ and at the turn of the year has king Nebuchadnezzar sent and brings him in to Babylon, with the desirable vessels of the house of Yahweh, and causes Zedekiah his brother to reign over Judah and Jerusalem.

¹⁷ And He causes to go up against them the king of the Chaldeans, and he slays their chosen ones by the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and has had no pity on young man and virgin, old man and very aged--the whole He has given into his hand.

¹⁴ For if you keep silence, yea silence in this crisis, sustentation and rescue shall stand up for the Jews from another place; but you and your father's house, you shall perish. And who is there knowing whether it was for a crisis like this that you have attained to the royal position?

¹⁵ If even on His holy ones, He puts no reliance, And the heavens are not purged in His eyes,

⁷ For what reason should the wicked live on? They develop and become masterful with potent power.

¹⁸ And so I would say:I shall expire in old age, And I shall have many days as the sand;"

⁴ For You are not an El Whose delight is in wickedness; Evil may not sojourn with You. ⁵ No boasters may set themselves up in front of Your eyes; You hate all contrivers of lawlessness;

¹ Why are You standing far off, O Yahweh? Why are You obscuring Yourself in seasons of distress? ² In his pride, the wicked one is dashing after the humble; Let them be grabbed in the schemes that they have devised.

⁹ He waits in ambush in concealment like a lion in its covert; He waits in ambush to kidnap the humble; He kidnaps the humble by drawing him into his net.

¹⁵ Break the arm of the wicked and evil one; May You inquire into his wickedness until You find no more.

³ When the settled things are being pulled down, The righteous one--what can he effect? ⁴ Yahweh is in His holy temple; Yahweh--His throne is in the heavens. His eyes are perceiving; His eyelids are testing the sons of humanity. ⁵ Yahweh is testing the righteous one, Yet His soul hates the wicked one and the one loving wrong. ⁶ Let Him rain coals of fire and sulfur on the wicked, And let a simoon wind be the assigned portion of their cup. ⁷ For Yahweh is righteous; He loves righteous deeds. ⁹ Our signs we cannot see; There is no prophet any more, And not one of us is knowing what is still ahead." ¹⁰ How long, O Elohim, shall the foe reproach? Shall the enemy spurn Your Name permanently?

⁸ If you should see extortion of the destitute And pillage of judgment and justice in a province, Do not be amazed over the event, For one lofty official above another lofty official is observing, And other lofty officials are over them."

Full of judgment, righteousness lodging in her, yet now murderers!" ²² Your silver becomes dross, your grog is adulterated with water." ²³ Your chiefs are stubborn, and partners of thieves. Everyone loves a bribe, and pursues payments. The orphan they are not judging. And the contention of the widow is not coming to them."

²⁰ Woe to those saying for evil, good, and for good, evil, placing darkness for light and light for darkness, placing bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!"

²⁶ And He lifts up a banner for nations from afar, and He hisses for one from the outmost part of the earth, and, behold! Hastily, fleetly is it coming." ²⁷ None is faint and none is stumbling in it. None is slumbering nor sleeping, nor is opened the belt of his loins, nor is pulled away the lacing of his sandals;" ²⁸ whose arrows are whetted, and all their bows are bent. The hoofs of his horses as rock are reckoned, and his chariot wheels as a sweeping whirlwind."

⁵ Woe, Assyria! Club of My anger! And a rod! He, in their hand, is My menace!" ⁶ Among a nation polluted will I send him. And against a people, object of My rage, will I instruct him. To loot loot and to plunder plunder, and to place them for tramping, as the clay of the streets." ⁷ Yet he, not so is he planning, and his heart, not so is devising, for to exterminate is in his heart, and to cut off nations not a few."

¹³ For, says he, "By the vigor of my hand I did it, and by my wisdom, for understanding have I. And I am taking away the boundaries of the peoples, and their equipment I rob. And I am bringing down, as a sturdy one, their dwellers, ¹⁴ and my hand is finding, as a nest, the estate of the peoples, and, as one gathers forsaken eggs, the entire earth do I gather. And no one comes to be ruffling a wing, or opening wide the mouth and chirping." ¹⁵ Will the axe beautify itself over the one hewing with it? Should the chief's mace magnify itself over the one waving it? As if a club is also waving the one raising it! As if a rod is raising one who is not wood!

And your sins conceal His face from you, from hearing you." ³ For your palms are sullied with blood, and your fingers with depravity. Your lips speak falsehood, your tongue iniquity is soliloquizing." ⁴ No one is calling in righteousness, and no one is being judged in faithfulness. They trust in chaos, and speak futility. They are pregnant with toil, and generate lawlessness." ⁵ The eggs of the yellow viper they hatch, and the webs of a spider are they weaving. The eater of their eggs shall die. And that pressed out of it will hatch a puff adder." ⁶ Their webs shall not become a garment, nor shall they cover themselves with their deeds. Their deeds are deeds of lawlessness. And the contrivance of violence is in their palms." ⁷ Their feet are running to evil, and they are hastening to shed innocent blood. Their devices are devices of lawlessness. Devastation and breaking and violence are in their highways." ⁸ The way of welfare they do not know, and no judgment is in their rounds. Their tracks they pervert for themselves. All those treading in them know no welfare."

¹³ Transgression and dissimulation against Yahweh, and turning away from following our Elohim, speaking perversity and stubbornness, pregnant with and soliloquizing from the heart, words of falsehood." ¹⁴ And turned away backward is judgment, and justice is standing afar. For truth is stumbling in the square, and correctness cannot enter." ¹⁵ And it is coming that the truth is being deranged, and a withdrawer from evil is making himself loot.And Yahweh is seeing, and it is evil in His eyes, for there is no judgment."

²⁷ As a cage full of fowls, So their houses are full of deceit, Therefore they have been great, and are rich." ²⁸ They have been fat, they have shone, Yea, they have overpassed the acts of the evil, Judgment they have not judged, The judgment of the fatherless--and they prosper, And the judgment of the needy they have not judged." ²⁹ For these do not I inspect, an affirmation of Yahweh, On a nation such as this, Does not My soul avenge itself?

³ and you have said:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:The great eagle, great-winged, long-pinioned, Full of feathers, that has diverse colors, Has come in unto Lebanon, And it takes the foliage of the cedar,

⁶ Yet you dishonor the poor one. Are not the rich tyrannizing over you? And they are drawing you to tribunals. ⁷ Are not they blaspheming the ideal name which is being invoked over you?

¹⁵ but, according as He Who calls you is holy, you also become holy in all behavior, ¹⁶ because it is written that, Holy shall you be, for I am holy."

⁸ (for the just man dwelling among them, in observing and hearing from day to day, tormented his just soul by their lawless acts),

⁸ I am the Alpha and the Omega,is saying the Lord God, Who is and Who was and Who is coming, the Almighty."

¹¹ saying, "What you are observing write into a scroll and send it to the seven ecclesias: to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea."

¹⁰ And they cry with a loud voice, saying, "Till when, O Owner, holy and true, art Thou not judging and avenging our blood on those dwelling on the earth?

¹⁰ And those dwelling on the earth are rejoicing over them and are making merry, and will be sending approach presents to one another, seeing that these two prophets torment those dwelling on the earth."
