⁵ By the abundance of your wisdom, Through your merchandise, You have multiplied your wealth, And high is your heart through your wealth."

¹¹ and houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and hewn cisterns which you did not hew, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, so that you will eat and be satisfied, ¹² then guard yourself, lest you should forget Yahweh your Elohim Who brought you forth from the country of Egypt, from the house of servants.

¹³ and your herd and your flock multiply, and silver and gold increase for you, and all that is yours is abundant, ¹⁴ then your heart becomes exalted and you forget Yahweh your Elohim Who was bringing you forth from the country of Egypt, from the house of servants,

¹⁹ You have said, Lo, I have smitten Edom; and your heart has lifted you up to boast; now, abide in your house, why do you stir yourself up in evil, that you have fallen, you, and Judah with you?.

²³ and many are bringing in an offering to Yahweh, to Jerusalem, and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah, and he is lifted up before the eyes of all the nations after this. ²⁴ In those days has Hezekiah been sick even unto death, and he prays unto Yahweh, and He speaks to him, and a wonder has appointed for him;" ²⁵ and Hezekiah has not returned according to the deed [done] unto him, for his heart has been lofty, and there is wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem;"

²⁴ If I have made gold my confidence, And I have said to pure gold:My trust, ²⁵ If I have rejoiced that my estate is vast And that my hand has found abundance,

⁷ Here is the master who is not making Elohim his stronghold, And is trusting in the vastness of his riches; He is strengthening himself by his works of woe."

¹⁰ Do not trust in extortion, And in pillage, do not place vain hope; Though your estate be producing, do not set your heart on it."

²⁸ He who trusts in his riches, he himself shall fall, Yet the righteous shall bud like a leaf."

¹² Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more expectation for a stupid man than for him.

⁹ Lest I should be surfeited So that I disavow You and say, Who is Yahweh? Or lest I be destitute and steal, So that I denigrate the name of my El."

²¹ Woe to those wise in their own eyes, and in front of their own face have understanding!"

⁸ For saying is he, "Are not my chiefs altogether kings? ⁹ Is not, as Carchemish, Calno? Should not, as Arphad, be Hamath? Should not, as Damascus, be Samaria? ¹⁰ As my hand found all the kingdoms of the forbidden idols, and their carvings, more than Jerusalem's and than Samaria's, ¹¹ shall I not, as I did to Samaria and to her forbidden idols, so do to Jerusalem and to her grief fetishes? ¹² Yet it comes, when Yahweh will clip off all His doings in mount Zion and in Jerusalem, I will visit evil on the fruit of the insolent heart of the king of Assyria, and the high beauty of his eyes." ¹³ For, says he, "By the vigor of my hand I did it, and by my wisdom, for understanding have I. And I am taking away the boundaries of the peoples, and their equipment I rob. And I am bringing down, as a sturdy one, their dwellers, ¹⁴ and my hand is finding, as a nest, the estate of the peoples, and, as one gathers forsaken eggs, the entire earth do I gather. And no one comes to be ruffling a wing, or opening wide the mouth and chirping."

³ and in many waters was the seed of the merchant. The harvest of the waterway was her income, and she became the mart of nations."

⁸ Who counseled this against Tyre, the crown giver, whose merchants were chiefs, her traffickers the glorious of the earth?

⁴⁹ Lo, this has been the iniquity of Sodom your sister, Arrogancy, fulness of bread, and quiet ease, Have been to her and to her daughters, And the hand of the afflicted and needy She has not strengthened."

¹² Tarshish [is] your merchant, Because of the abundance of all wealth, For silver, iron, tin, and lead, They have given out your remnants." ¹³ Javan, Tubal, and Meshech--they [are] your merchants, For persons of men, and vessels of brass, They have given out your merchandise." ¹⁴ They of the house of Togarmah, [For] horses, and riding steeds, and mules, They have given out your remnants." ¹⁵ Sons of Dedan [are] your merchants, Many isles [are] the mart of your hand, Horns of ivory and ebony they sent back your reward." ¹⁶ Aram [is] your merchant, Because of the abundance of your works, For emerald, purple, and embroidery, And fine linen, and coral, and agate, They have given out your remnants." ¹⁷ Judah and the land of Israel--they [are] your merchants, For wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, And honey, and oil, and balm, They have given out your merchandise." ¹⁸ Damascus [is] your merchant, For the abundance of your works, Because of the abundance of all wealth, For wine of Helbon, and white wool." ¹⁹ Vedan and Javan go about with your remnants, They have given shining iron, cassia, and cane, In your merchandise it has been." ²⁰ Dedan [is] your merchant, For clothes of freedom for riding." ²¹ Arabia, and all princes of Kedar, They [are] the traders of your hand, For lambs, and rams, and he-goats, In these your merchants." ²² Merchants of Sheba and Raamah--they [are] your merchants, For the chief of all spices, And for every precious stone, and gold, They have given out your remnants." ²³ Haran, and Canneh, and Eden, merchants of Sheba, Asshur--Chilmad--[are] your merchants, ²⁴ They [are] your merchants for perfect things, For wrappings of blue, and embroidery, And for treasuries of rich apparel, With cords bound and girded, for your merchandise, ²⁵ Ships of Tarshish [are] your double walls of your merchandise, And you are filled and honored greatly, In the heart of the seas." ²⁶ Into great waters have they brought you, Those rowing you, The east wind has broken you in the heart of the seas." ²⁷ Your wealth and your remnants, Your merchandise, your mariners, And your pilots, strengtheners of your breach, And the traders of your merchandise, And all your men of war, who [are] in you, And in all your assembly that [is] in your midst, Fall into the heart of the seas in the day of your fall, ²⁸ At the voice of the cry of your pilots shake do the suburbs. ²⁹ And come down from their ships have all handling an oar, Mariners, all the pilots of the sea, on the land they stand, ³⁰ And have sounded for you with their voice, And cry bitterly, and cause dust to go up on their heads, In ashes they do roll themselves." ³¹ And they have made for you baldness, And they have girded on sackcloth, And they have wept for you, In bitterness of soul--a bitter mourning." ³² And lifted up for you have their sons a lamentation, And they have lamented over you, who [is] as Tyre? As the cut-off one in the midst of the sea? ³³ With the outgoing of your remnants from the seas, You have filled many peoples, With the abundance of your riches, and your merchandise, You have made rich things of earth." ³⁴ The time of [your] being broken by the seas in the depths of the waters, Your merchandise and all your assembly in your midst have fallen." ³⁵ All inhabitants of the isles have been astonished at you, And their kings have been sore afraid, They have been troubled in countenance." ³⁶ Merchants among the peoples have shrieked for you, Wastes you have been, and you are not--to the eon!'"

² `Son of man, say to the leader of Tyre:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because your heart has been high, And you do say:A el I [am], The habitation of Elohim I have inhabited, In the heart of the seas, And you [are] man, and not El, And you give out your heart as the heart of Elohim,

³⁰ Responding is the king to all this by saying, "Is not this Babylon great that I have built to be the house of the kingdom within the might of my safeguarding walls, for the esteem of my honor!"

³⁷ Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, am lauding and exalting and honoring the King of the heavens, seeing that all His deeds are verity, and His paths are adjudication; and all walking in pride He can abase."

⁷ Ephraim is a trafficker; in his hand are scales of deceit; he loves to extort. ⁸ And Ephraim is saying, Yea, I am rich; I find virility for myself; all is my labor. They will not find with me depravity which is sin."

⁶ And according to their pasture they were satisfied; they were satisfied, and their heart is exalting; therefore they forgot Me."

³ And Tyre is building siege defense for herself, and is heaping up silver as soil; and she gathers gold-dust as the mud of the streets."

¹⁶ Now He told them a parable, saying, "The country place of a certain rich man bears well." ¹⁷ And he reasoned in himself, saying, 'What shall I be doing, seeing that I have no where to gather my fruits?'" ¹⁸ And he said, 'This will I be doing: I will pull down my barns, and greater ones will I build, and I will gather there all my grain and my good things." ¹⁹ And I will be declaring to my soul, "Soul, many good things have you laid up for many years. Rest, eat, drink, make merry."'" ²⁰ Yet God said to him, 'Imprudent one! In this night your soul are they demanding from you. Now, what you make ready, whose will it be?'" ²¹ Thus is he who is hoarding for himself and is not rich for God."

¹⁶ being mutually disposed to one another, not being disposed to that which is high, but being led away to the humble. Do not come to pass for prudent with yourselves."

¹⁷ Those who are rich in the current eon be charging not to be haughty, nor yet to rely on the dubiousness of riches, but on God, Who is tendering us all things richly for our enjoyment;"

¹³ Come now, you who are saying, "Today or tomorrow we will be going into this or that city and should be spending a year there, and we will be trafficking and getting gain-" ¹⁴ who are not versed in that which is the morrow's, for what is your life? For a vapor are you, which is appearing briefly and thereupon disappearing-"
