²² And you have done as I have done, On the upper lip you are not covered, And bread of men you do not eat."

¹⁵ With the death plague they shall entomb his survivors, And his widows shall not lament.

⁶⁴ Their priests fell by the sword, Yet their widows could not lament."

⁴ Of painful deaths they die, They are not lamented, nor are they buried, For dung on the face of the ground they are, And by sword and by famine are consumed, And their carcase has been for food To the fowl of the heavens, And to the beast of the earth." ⁵ For thus said Yahweh:Do not enter the house of a mourning-feast, Nor go to lament nor bemoan for them, For I have removed My peace from this people, An affirmation of Yahweh, The kindness and the mercies." ⁶ And died have great and small in this land, They are not buried, and none lament for them, Nor does any cut himself, nor become bald for them." ⁷ Nor do they deal out to them for mourning, To comfort him concerning the dead, Nor cause them to drink a cup of consolations For his father and for his mother."

³ From the sound of the stamping of the hoofs of his mighty ones, From the rushing of his chariot, the noise of his wheels, Fathers have not turned unto sons, From feebleness of hands,

¹⁶ `Son of man, lo, I am taking from you the desire of your eyes by a stroke, and you do not mourn, nor weep, nor let your tear come." ¹⁷ Cease to groan, [for] the dead you do make no mourning, your bonnet bind on you, and your shoes you do put on your feet, and you do not cover over the upper lip, and bread of men you do not eat.'"

⁹ And it shall come, if ten mortals be left in one house, yet they shall die." ¹⁰ When a man's friend shall take him up, even he who is burning him up, to bring forth his bones from the house, and he shall say to him who is in the recesses of the house, Are any still with you? And he shall say, Nobody, then he will say, Hist! For one is not to mention Yahweh by name."
