² `What--to you, you--using this simile Concerning the ground of Israel, saying:Fathers do eat unripe fruit, And the sons' teeth are blunted?

¹⁵ What is it to you that you are crushing My people, and the faces of the humble are grinding?Averring is my Lord, Yahweh of hosts."

⁴ And I have given them for a trembling To all kingdoms of the earth, Because of Manasseh son of Hezekiah king of Judah, For that which he did in Jerusalem."

²⁹ In those days they do not say any more:Fathers have eaten unripe fruit, And the sons' teeth are blunted." ³⁰ But--each for his own iniquity does die, Every man who is eating the unripe fruit, Blunted are his teeth."

⁷ Our fathers sinned and are no more, and we ourselves are burdened with their depravities."

² `Son of man, set your face unto mountains of Israel, and prophesy concerning them:" ³ And you have said:Mountains of Israel, Hear you a word of the Lord Yahweh:Thus said the Lord Yahweh To the mountains, and to the hills, To the streams, and to the valleys, Lo, I, I am bringing in against you a sword, And I have destroyed your high places."

² An end, come has the end on the four corners of the land."

¹² `Say, I pray you, to the rebellious house, Have you not known what these [are]? Say, Lo, come has the king of Babylon to Jerusalem, And he takes its king, and its princes, And brings them to himself to Babylon."

³ and you have said to the sons of Ammon:Hear you a word of the Lord Yahweh:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because of your saying, Aha, to My sanctuary, Because it has been polluted, And unto the ground of Israel, Because it has been desolate, And unto the house of Judah, Because they have gone into a removal:"

¹ And you, son of man, prophesy unto mountains of Israel, and you have said, O mountains of Israel, hear a word of Yahweh." ² Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because the enemy said against you, Aha, and the high places of old for a possession have been to us, ³ therefore, prophesy, and you have said:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because, even because, of desolating, And of swallowing you up from round about, For your being a possession to the remnant of the nations, And you are taken up on the tip of the tongue, And [are] an evil report of the people." ⁴ Therefore, O mountains of Israel, Hear a word of the Lord Yahweh:Thus said the Lord Yahweh, to mountains, and to hills, To streams, and to valleys, And to wastes that [are] desolate, And to cities that are forsaken, That have been for a prey, And for a scorn, to the remnant of the nations who [are] round about." ⁵ Therefore, thus said the Lord Yahweh:Have I not, in the fire of My jealousy, Spoken against the remnant of the nations, And against Edom--all of it, Who gave My land to themselves for a possession, With the joy of the whole heart--with despite of soul, For the sake of casting it out for a prey? ⁶ Therefore, prophesy concerning the ground of Israel, And you have said to mountains, and to hills, To streams, and to valleys, Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Lo, I, in My jealousy, and in My fury, I have spoken, Because the shame of nations you have borne."

¹¹ And He said unto me, `Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel; lo, they are saying:Dried up have our bones, And perished has our hope, We have been cut off by ourselves."

¹⁹ Speak unto them, Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Lo, I am taking the stick of Joseph, that [is] in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his companions, and have given them unto him, with the stick of Judah, and have made them become one stick, and they have been one in My hand."

²⁵ And they have dwelt on the land that I gave to My servant, to Jacob, In which your fathers have dwelt, And they have dwelt on it, they and their sons, And their son's sons--unto the eon, And David My servant [is] their prince--to the eon."

³⁶ Verily, I am saying to you: All these things will be arriving on this generation."

²⁰ O man! who are you, to be sure, who are answering again to God? That which is molded will not protest to the molder, "Why do you make me thus?
