¹ Woe to the tranquil in Zion and those trusting in the mountain of Samaria!--The specified men of the first of the nations, and to them to whom the house of Israel comes." ² Pass to Calneh and see, and go thence to Hamath the great, and go down to Gath of the Philistines. Are you better than these kingdoms? Or is their boundary greater than your boundary? ³ You are those isolating the day of evil, yet you are bringing the seat of violence closer;" ⁴ those lying on couches of ivory, and who extend themselves on their divans, and are eating the butting lambs from the flock, and the calves from the midst of the stall;" ⁵ those twanging at the bidding of the zither, as David, they devise for themselves instruments of song;" ⁶ those drinking wine in sprinkling bowls, and who are anointing with the principal oils, yet are not ill over the breaking of Joseph." ⁷ Wherefore, now shall they be deported at the head of the deportations, and the vociferation of those who extend themselves shall withdraw." ⁸ My Lord Yahweh swears by His soul. Averring is Yahweh, Elohim of hosts:I am abhorring all the pomp of Jacob, and his citadels I hate, and I take away the city and its fullness." ⁹ And it shall come, if ten mortals be left in one house, yet they shall die." ¹⁰ When a man's friend shall take him up, even he who is burning him up, to bring forth his bones from the house, and he shall say to him who is in the recesses of the house, Are any still with you? And he shall say, Nobody, then he will say, Hist! For one is not to mention Yahweh by name." ¹¹ For, behold! Yahweh is instructing, and He will smite the great house with demolition and the small house with rents." ¹² Will horses run on a crag? Or will one plow the sea with an ox? For you turn judgment into poison and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood. ¹³ You are those rejoicing for nothing, who are saying, Do we not by our own steadfastness take horns to ourselves? ¹⁴ For, behold Me raising against you, house of Israel, (averring is Yahweh, Elohim of hosts), a nation; and they shall oppress you, from the entrance of Hamath unto the watercourse of the gorge."

¹⁰ And coming is the beginning of his kingdom to be Babel and Erech and Accad and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

²⁷ Why hide to run away and steal from me, and not tell me, that I could send you with rejoicing and with songs and with tambourine and with harp?

A caravan of Ishmaelites are coming from Gilead with their camels, bearing perfume and balm and labdanum, going by to go down to Egypt. ²⁶ And saying is Judah to his brothers, "What gain is it that we kill our brother and cover his blood? ²⁷ Go, and we will sell him to the Ishmaelites, and our hand must not come to be against him, for our brother and our flesh is he.And hearkening are his brothers. ²⁸ And passing are mortals, Midianites, merchants. And drawing are they and bringing up Joseph from the cistern, and are selling Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty silverlings. And bringing are they Joseph to Egypt.

²¹ And saying are they, each man to his brother, "Nevertheless, guilty are we on account of our brother when we saw the distress of his soul, when he supplicated us and we did not hearken. Therefore comes on us all this distress. ²² And answering them is Reuben, saying, "Did not I speak to you, saying, `You must not sin against the boy'? And not hearken did you. And, moreover, behold! His blood is required.

⁵ Now, if you shall hearken, yea hearken to My voice and observe My covenant then you will become Mine, a special possession, above all the peoples, for Mine is all the earth. ⁶ As for you, you shall become Mine, a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak to the sons of Israel.

¹⁸ Yet he said: There is no sound of the response of mastery, and there is no sound of the response of defeat; the sound of responsive singing I hear. ¹⁹ And it came to be just as he drew near to the camp and saw the calf and the choruses that Moses' anger grew hot, and he flung from his hands the tablets and broke them below the mountain.

¹¹ I will put My tabernacle in your midst, and My soul shall not loathe you.

³⁰ I will exterminate your fane heights, cut down your incense stands and bestow your corpses upon the corpses of your idol clods; thus My soul will loathe you.

¹² The sons of Israel spoke to Moses, saying:Behold, we expire! We perish! All of us perish!"

⁷ And this shall be your northern boundary:from the Great Sea you shall mark out your line to Mount Hor; ⁸ from Mount Hor you shall mark it out to Lebo-hamath, and the border-area of the territory will be at Zedad;"

²⁷ and go out into the field, and gather their vineyards, and tread, and make praises, and go into the house of their elohim, and eat and drink, and revile Abimelech.

²³ and the princes of the Philistines have been gathered together to sacrifice a great sacrifice to Dagon their elohim, and to rejoice; and they say, `Our elohim has given into our hand Samson our enemy.. <sup>24</sup> And the people see him, and praise their elohim, for they said, `Our elohim has given in our hand our enemy, and he who is laying waste our land, and who multiplied our wounded.. ²⁵ And it comes to pass, when their heart [is] glad, that they say, `Call for Samson, and he does play before us;' and they call for Samson out of the prison-house, and he plays before them, and they cause him to stand between the pillars.

⁷ And the five men go, and come in to Laish, and see the people which [is] in its midst, dwelling confidently, according to the custom of Zidonians, quiet and confident; and there is none putting to shame in the land in [any] thing, possessing restraint, and they [are] far off from the Zidonians, and have no word with [any] man.

³³ `And the man I cut not off of your from Mine altar, [is] to consume your eyes, and to grieve your soul; and all the increase of your house do die men;"

⁵ And it comes to pass, at the coming in of the ark of the covenant of Yahweh unto the camp, that all Israel shout--a great shout--and the earth is moved.

⁴ And there goes out a man of the duelists from the camps of the Philistines, Goliath [is] his name, from Gath; his height [is] six cubits and a span,

²³ And he is speaking with them, and lo, a man of the duelists is coming up, Goliath the Philistine [is] his name, of Gath, out of the ranks of the Philistines, and he speaks according to those words, and David hears;"

³⁶ And Abigail comes in unto Nabal, and lo, he has a banquet in his house, like a banquet of the king, and the heart of Nabal [is] glad within him, and he [is] drunk unto excess, and she has not declared to him anything, less or more, till the light of the morning. ³⁷ And it comes to pass in the morning, when the wine is gone out from Nabal, that his wife declares to him these things, and his heart dies within him, and he has been as a stone. ³⁸ And it comes to pass, [in] about ten days, that Yahweh smites Nabal, and he dies,

⁶⁵ And Solomon makes, at that time, the festival--and all Israel with him, a great assembly from the entering in of Hamath unto the brook of Egypt--before Yahweh our Elohim, seven days and seven days; fourteen days.

²⁴ and he buys the mount Samaria from Shemer, with two talents of silver, and builds [on] the mount, and calls the name of the city that he has built by the name of Shemer, lord of the hill--Samaria.

¹⁶ and they go out at noon, and Ben-Hadad is drinking--drunk in the booths, he and the kings, the thirty and two kings, helping him. ¹⁷ And the young men of the heads of the provinces go out at the first, and Ben-Hadad sends, and they declare to him, saying, `Men have come out of Samaria.. <sup>18</sup> And he said, `If for peace they have come out--catch them alive; and if for battle they have come out--alive catch them.. ¹⁹ And these have gone out of the city--the young men of the heads of the provinces--and the force that [is] after them, ²⁰ and smite each his man, and Aram flees, and Israel pursues them, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram escapes on a horse, and the horsemen;"

⁷ And Jezebel his wife said unto him, `You now do execute rule over Israel! rise, eat bread, and let your heart be glad, --I do give to you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.. <sup>8</sup> And she writes letters in the name of Ahab, and seals with his seal, and sends the letters unto the elders, and unto the freemen, who are in his city, those dwelling with Naboth, <sup>9</sup> and she writes in the letters, saying, `Proclaim a fast, and cause Naboth to sit at the head of the people, ¹⁰ and cause two men--sons of worthlessness--to sit over-against him, and they testify of him, saying, You have blessed Elohim and Melech; and they have brought him out, and stoned him, and he dies.. ¹¹ And the men of his city, the elders and the freemen who are dwelling in his city, do as Jezebel has sent unto them, as written in the letters that she sent unto them, ¹² they have proclaimed a fast, and caused Naboth to sit at the head of the people, ¹³ and two men--sons of worthlessness--come in, and sit over-against him, and the men of worthlessness testify of him, even Naboth, before the people, saying, `Naboth blessed Elohim and Melech;' and they take him out to the outside of the city, and stone him with stones, and he dies;"

³³ He is yet speaking with them, and lo, the messenger is coming down unto him, and he said, `Lo, this [is] the evil from Yahweh:what--do I wait for Yahweh any more?.

²⁵ and Jehoash son of Jehoahaz turns and takes the cities out of the hand of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael that he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father in war; three times has Joash smitten him, and he brings back the cities of Israel.

²⁹ In the days of Pekah king of Israel has Tiglath-Pileser king of Asshur come, and takes Ijon, and Abel-Beth-Maachah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and removes them to Asshur.

³ against him came up Shalmaneser king of Asshur, and Hoshea is to him a servant, and does render to him a present. ⁴ And the king of Asshur finds in Hoshea a conspiracy, in that he has sent messengers unto So king of Egypt, and has not caused a present to go up to the king of Asshur, as year by year, and the king of Asshur restrains him, and binds him in a house of restraint. ⁵ And the king of Asshur goes up into all the land, and he goes up to Samaria, and lays siege against it three years;" ⁶ in the ninth year of Hoshea has the king of Asshur captured Samaria, and removes Israel to Asshur, and causes them to dwell in Halah, and in Habor, [by] the river Gozan, and [in] the cities of the Medes.

¹³ Where [is] the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah?.

¹⁶ And Josiah turns, and sees the graves that [are] there in the mount, and sends and takes the bones out of the graves, and burns [them] on the altar, and defiles it, according to the word of Yahweh that the man of Elohim proclaimed, who proclaimed these things.

¹⁵ The couriers rode forth posthaste by order of the king, and the edict was promulgated in the castle of Susa. Then the king and Haman sat down to drink, but Susa city was doleful.

⁸ If I have found favor in the king's eyes, and if it seems good to the king, to grant my request and to attend to my urgent appeal, let the king come tomorrow with Haman to the banquet that I shall prepare for them; and tomorrow I shall comply with the word of the king.

¹¹ Haman related to them the glory of his riches, his many sons and all about how the king had magnified him and how he had advanced him above all the king's chief officials and courtiers. ¹² Haman added:Indeed, queen Esther let no one save me come with the king to the banquet that she gave; and also tomorrow I am invited to her with the king. ¹³ But all of this, it is no compensation for me every time I see Mordecai the Jew sitting in the king's gateway. ¹⁴ So his wife Zeresh with all his male friends advised him:Let them build a lofty gallows of fifty cubits, and in the morning ask the king that they should hang Mordecai on it. Then set out with the king to the banquet rejoicing. The plan seemed good before Haman, and he had the gallows built.

¹ So the king and Haman came to feast with queen Esther. ² Then, on the second day during the wine feast, the king asked Esther again:What is your request, queen Esther? It shall be granted to you. What is your urgent appeal? Unto half of the kingship, it shall be granted to you.

⁸ As the king was returning from the garden of the pavilion to the house of the wine feast, Haman was falling upon the couch on which Esther was. So the king shouted:Will he even molest the queen, with me in the house? As the word had come forth from the king's mouth, they hooded Haman's face. ⁹ And Harbona, one of the eunuchs before the king, said:Moreover, behold, there is standing at Haman's house the lofty gallows of fifty cubits that Haman had prepared for Mordecai who had spoken to the good of the king. So the king commanded:Hang him on it!" ¹⁰ Then they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. And the king's fury subsided.

⁸ I collected also silver and gold for myself, The valuables of kings and provinces; I provided male singers and female singers for myself, And with the delicacies of the sons of humanity, a wine waiter and wine waitresses."

¹¹ Because there is no sentence executed quickly against the evil deed, Therefore the heart of the sons of humanity in them is fully given to do evil."

¹⁸ Because of slothfulness the house's framework shall sag, And because of laziness of hands, the house shall leak."

⁹ Rejoice, choice youth, in your childhood, And let your heart be well in the days of your prime; Walk in the ways of your heart and by the sight of your eyes, Yet know that for all these the One, Elohim, shall bring you into judgment."

²⁰ In that day Yahweh will shave with a hired razor, with those across the stream, with the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the feet, and even the beard will it sweep off."

⁴ For ere the lad will know how to call `abi' and `ami,' borne away shall be the estate of Damascus, and the loot of Samaria, before the king of Assyria." ⁵ And Yahweh is proceeding to speak to me further, saying, ⁶ Forasmuch as this people reject the waters of Shiloah which are going carefully, and are elated over Rezin and Remaliah's son,

⁵ Woe, Assyria! Club of My anger! And a rod! He, in their hand, is My menace!" ⁶ Among a nation polluted will I send him. And against a people, object of My rage, will I instruct him. To loot loot and to plunder plunder, and to place them for tramping, as the clay of the streets."

⁹ Is not, as Carchemish, Calno? Should not, as Arphad, be Hamath? Should not, as Damascus, be Samaria? ¹⁰ As my hand found all the kingdoms of the forbidden idols, and their carvings, more than Jerusalem's and than Samaria's, ¹¹ shall I not, as I did to Samaria and to her forbidden idols, so do to Jerusalem and to her grief fetishes?

³ I, I instruct My hallowed. And I call them. Moreover, I call My masters, for My anger, even My joyous and My proud."

The scourge overflowing that shall pass will not come on us, for we constitute a lie our refuge, and in falsehood are we concealed."

⁹ Tranquil women, rise and hear My voice! Trusting daughters, give ear to My sayings!" ¹⁰ In days over a year shall you be disturbed, trusting women, for vanish will the vintage, the gathering will fail to come in." ¹¹ Tremble, tranquil women! Be disturbed, trusting women! Strip and be naked, with a girdle skirt on the loins!"

¹⁴ Afraid are the sinners in Zion, quivering holds the polluted. Who is telling you of the devouring fire? Who is telling you of the glowings eonian?

¹⁸ lest Hezekiah shall incite you, saying, "Yahweh will rescue you.Did the elohim of the nations rescue any man's land from the hand of the king of Assyria? ¹⁹ Where are the elohim of Hamath and Arphad? Where are the elohim of Sepharvaim, Hena and Ivah? And where are the elohim of the land of Samaria? And when have they rescued Samaria from my hand?

¹² Have the elohim of the nations rescued them, those who my forefathers ruined, Gozan and Haran and Rezeph and the sons of Eden who were in Thelassar, the land of Teman? ¹³ Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arphad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, and Hena and Ivah and Samaria?'"

¹⁰ Telling from the beginning, the hereafter, and from aforetime, what has not yet been done. Saying, `All My counsel shall be confirmed, and all My desire will I do.'" ¹¹ Calling from the sunrise, a bird of prey, from a land far off, the man of My counsel. Indeed, I speak! Indeed, I will bring it about! I formed. Indeed, I will do it."

⁷ Yet you are saying, `For an eon will I be mistress still!' You do not lay these things to heart; you are not mindful of your hereafter."

⁴ From what I know, you are obstinate, and a sinew of iron is your scruff. And your forehead is copper."

For truth is stumbling in the square, and correctness cannot enter."

¹⁰ For, pass to the isles of Chittim, and see, And to Kedar send, and consider well, And see if there has been like this:" ¹¹ Has a nation changed elohims? (And they [are] no elohims!) And My people has changed its honor For that which does not profit.

³ Yahweh, Your eyes, are they not on stedfastness? You have smitten them, and they have not grieved, You have consumed them, They have refused to receive instruction, They made their faces harder than a rock, They have refused to turn back."

²⁹ The bellows have been burnt, By fire has the lead been consumed, In vain has a refiner refined, And the wicked have not been drawn away." ³⁰ `Silver rejected,' they have called to them, For Yahweh has kicked against them!"

⁴ Do not trust for yourselves Unto the words of falsehood, saying, The temple of Yahweh, the temple of Yahweh, The temple of Yahweh [are] they!"

²³ Thus said Yahweh:Let not the wise boast himself in his wisdom, Nor let the mighty boast himself in his might, Let not the rich boast himself in his riches,

⁶ And died have great and small in this land, They are not buried, and none lament for them, Nor does any cut himself, nor become bald for them."

⁵ And if you do not hear these words, By myself I have sworn--an affirmation of Yahweh, That this house is for a desolation."

⁷ Woe! for great [is] that day, without any like it, Yea, a time of adversity it [is] to Jacob, Yet out of it he is saved."

²⁶ `Therefore, hear you a word of Yahweh, all Judah who are dwelling in the land of Egypt:Lo, I--I have sworn by My great name, said Yahweh, My name is no more proclaimed by the mouth of any man of Judah, saying, Live does the Lord Yahweh--in all the land of Egypt."

¹¹ Secure is Moab from his youth, And at rest [is] he for his preserved things, And he has not been emptied out from vessel unto vessel, And into captivity he has not gone, Therefore has his taste remained in him, And his fragrance has not been changed."

³¹ Rise you, go up unto a nation at rest, Dwelling confidently, an affirmation of Yahweh, It has no two-leaved doors nor bar, Alone they do dwell."

¹¹ Because you rejoice, because you exult, O spoilers of Mine inheritance, Because you increase as a heifer [at] the tender grass, And do cry aloud as bulls,

¹⁴ Sworn has Yahweh of Hosts by Himself, That, Surely I have filled you [with] men as the cankerworm, And they have cried against you--shouting."

¹ How solitary sits the city once of many people! She has become like a widow who was great among nations; The chief princess among the provinces, she has become a payer of tribute."

⁵ Yahweh has become like an enemy; He has swallowed up Israel; He has swallowed up all her citadels; He has ruined its fortresses; And He is multiplying, in the daughter of Judah, complaint and complaining."

⁴ And He calls unto the man who is clothed with linen, who has the scribe's inkhorn at his loins, and Yahweh said unto him, `Pass on into the midst of the city, into the midst of Jerusalem, and you have made a mark on the foreheads of the men who are sighing and who are groaning for all the abominations that are done in its midst.'"

²² `Son of man, what [is] this simile to you, concerning the land of Israel, saying, Prolonged are the days, and perished has every vision?

²⁷ `Son of man, lo, the house of Israel are saying, The vision that he is seeing [is] for many days, and of times far off he is prophesying,

³⁹ And you, O house of Israel, thus said the Lord Yahweh:Each his idols--go--serve you, And, afterwards, if you are not hearkening to me, And My holy name you do not pollute any more by your gifts, and by your idols."

²¹ Say to the house of Israel:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Lo, I am polluting My sanctuary, The excellency of your strength, The desire of your eyes, and the pitied of your soul, And your sons and your daughters whom you have left, by sword they do fall."

¹⁸ `Son of man, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, Has caused his force to serve a great service against Tyre, Every head [is] bald--every shoulder peeled, And reward he had none, nor his force, out of Tyre, For the service that he served against it." ¹⁹ Therefore, thus said the Lord Yahweh, Lo, I am giving to Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon the land of Egypt, And he has taken away its store, And has taken its spoil, and taken its prey, And it has been a reward to his force." ²⁰ His wage for which he labored I have given to him, The land of Egypt--in that they wrought for Me, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh."

² `Son of man, say unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, and unto his multitude:To whom have you been like in your greatness? ³ Lo, Asshur, a cedar in Lebanon, Fair in branch, and shading bough, and high in stature, And between thickets has its foliage been."

² `Son of man, prophesy concerning shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and you have said unto them:To the shepherds, thus said the Lord Yahweh:Woe [to] the shepherds of Israel, Who have been feeding themselves! The flock do not the shepherds feed? ³ The fat you do eat, and the wool you put on, The fed one you slaughter, the flock you feed not."

¹⁵ `And this [is] the border of the land at the north quarter; from the great sea, the way of Hethlon, at the coming in to Zedad:" ¹⁶ Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim, that [is] between the border of Damascus and the border of Hamath; Hazar-Hatticon, that [is] at the coast of Havran." ¹⁷ And the border from the sea has been Hazar-Enan, the border of Damascus, and Zaphon at the north, and the border of Hamath:and [this is] the north quarter."

³⁰ Responding is the king to all this by saying, "Is not this Babylon great that I have built to be the house of the kingdom within the might of my safeguarding walls, for the esteem of my honor!"

⁴ They drink the turbid wine and laud the elohim of gold, silver, copper, iron, wood, and stone." ⁵ In the same hour came forth fingers of a mortal's hand writing, in the light received from the lampstand, on the stuccoed sidewall of the king's palace. And the king is perceiving the fingertip of the hand that is writing." ⁶ Then the king's mien alters and his ruminations are flustering him; the ligaments of his loins loosen up, and his knees are knocking one against the other."

¹ And Yahweh is saying to me, Again go, love a woman, who is loving an associate and is committing adultery, according to the love of Yahweh for the sons of Israel, though they are facing about to other elohim, and are lovers of raisin cakes of dried grapes."

⁴ They speak words, to invoke futility, to contract a covenant. And judgment buds as verdure on the furrows of the field." ⁵ The tabernaclers of Samaria will be stirred up for the heifer of Beth-aven, for its people mourn over it, and its dervishes are exulting over it, over its glory, for it is deported from it."

¹³ You plow wickedness; iniquity you reap. You eat the fruit of dissimulation, for you trust in your chariots, in the multitude of your masters."

¹⁶ Samaria is guilty, for she rebels against her Elohim. By the sword they shall fall, and their unweaned children shall be dashed to pieces, and their pregnant women shall be rent."

⁸ On pledged garments are they stretching out beside every altar, and the wine of those fined are they drinking in the house of their elohim."

⁶ Would a trumpet be blown in a city, and the people not tremble? Would there come to be evil in a city, and Yahweh not have done it? ⁷ For my Lord Yahweh is not doing a thing save He reveals His deliberation to His servants, the prophets."

¹⁰ They know not to do correctness (averring is Yahweh), who are treasuring violence and devastation in their citadels." ¹¹ Wherefore, thus says my Lord Yahweh, a foe! Even round about the land! And he will bring down your strength from you, and your citadels shall be plundered." ¹² Thus says Yahweh, Just as the shepherd is rescuing from the mouth of the lion two shanks or a separated ear, so shall the sons of Israel be rescued, those dwelling in Samaria on the edge of a couch, and in Damascus on a divan."

¹⁵ And I will smite the winter house along with the summer house, and the houses of ivory shall perish, and many houses shall be terminated, (averring is Yahweh)."

¹ Hear this word, young cows of Bashan, which are in the mountain of Samaria, the ones extorting the poor, the ones bruising the needy, the ones saying to their lords, Bring, and let us drink." ² My Lord Yahweh swears by His holiness, that, Behold days shall come on you, when they will assist you away with targes, and the hindmost of you with briars of fishing."

³ For thus says my Lord Yahweh, the city from which is faring forth a thousand, will have a hundred remain, and that from which is faring forth a hundred will have ten remain, for the house of Israel."

⁵ Yet you must not inquire of Bethel, and to Gilgal you shall not come, and to Beer-sheba you shall not pass, for Gilgal shall verily be deported, and Bethel shall come to lawlessness."

⁷ You who are turning judgment to wormwood, and they who stop righteousness on the land--."

¹¹ Wherefore, because of your trampling on the poor, and the load of cereal you are taking from him:You build houses of trimmed stone, yet you shall not dwell in them; you plant coveted vineyards, yet you shall not drink their wine." ¹² For I know that many are your transgressions and staunch are your sins. You are distressers of the righteous, takers of his propitiatory shelter. And they turn aside the needy in the gateway."

¹⁸ Woe to those yearning for the day of Yahweh! Why will this be a day of Yahweh for you? It will be darkness, and not light,

²³ Take away from Me the clamor of your songs, and the melody of your zithers I will not hear."

²⁷ And I will deport you beyond Damascus, says Yahweh, Elohim of hosts is His name."

⁸ My Lord Yahweh swears by His soul. Averring is Yahweh, Elohim of hosts:I am abhorring all the pomp of Jacob, and his citadels I hate, and I take away the city and its fullness."

¹² Will horses run on a crag? Or will one plow the sea with an ox? For you turn judgment into poison and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood.

¹¹ For thus says Amos, By the sword will Jeroboam die. And Israel will verily be deported off his ground."

¹⁷ Wherefore, thus says Yahweh, Your wife shall commit prostitution in the city, and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword, and your ground shall be apportioned by the line, and you shall die on unclean ground. And Israel shall verily be deported off his ground."

³ and the songs of the temple will howl in that day, (averring is my Lord Yahweh). Many are the corpses; in every place He flings them! Hist!"

⁷ Yahweh swears by the pomp of Jacob, if I shall forget permanently any of their doings--!"

¹⁴ who swear by the guilt of Samaria and say, Living is your Elohim, O Dan! And living is the way of Beer-sheba! Yet they will fall and will not rise again."

¹ I see Yahweh stationed over the altar, and He is saying, Smite the sphere-like capital, and the thresholds will quake; clip them at the head, all of them, and I will kill the hindmost of them with the sword. He shall not flee with those who are fleeing, and he shall not escape with those who are delivered."

⁹ For behold! I am instructing, and I will jerk the house of Israel to and fro, among all nations, just as grain in a sieve is jerked to and fro, yet a pouch-full shall not fall to the earth." ¹⁰ By the sword shall die all the sinners of My people, those saying, the evil shall not come close, nor forestall about us."

⁶ Then Yahweh Elohim is assigning a gourd, and it is coming up over Jonah, to be a shade over his head, to rescue him from his evil. And Jonah is rejoicing over the gourd, with great rejoicing."

⁶ And I will make Samaria a rubbish heap, a field for the plantings of a vineyard. And I will spill her stones into the ravine, and her foundations will I expose." ⁷ And all her carvings shall be pounded to pieces, and all her fees shall be burned with fire. And all her grief fetishes will I make a desolation; for from the fee of a prostitute she got them together, and unto the fee of a prostitute shall they return." ⁸ On this account will I wail and howl; I will go looted and naked. I will make a wailing as the jackals, and a mourning as the daughters of the ostrich;" ⁹ for her smiting is mortal, for it comes unto Judah. It touches unto the gateway of my people, unto Jerusalem."

³ Both palms are set upon the evil to do it thoroughly:The chief is asking, also the judge, for a repayment, and the great one, he is speaking the woe of his soul. And they are entwining it."

¹⁰ Though they are still as entangled briars, and as those groggy with their grog, they shall be devoured as straw fully dry."

¹⁴ And Yahweh instructs concerning you:No longer shall your name be perpetuated. From the house of your elohim will I cut off carving and molten image. I will set up your tomb, for you are slight."

⁸ Are you better than No-Amon, the dweller among the waterways, water round about her, whose rampart is the sea and water is her wall?

³ Why are You showing me lawlessness? And at toil are You looking, and devastation and violence are in front of me, and contention is coming to be, and quarreling am I bearing? ⁴ Therefore the law is torpid, and judgment is not faring forth permanently, for the wicked one is compassing about the righteous one; therefore tortuous judgment is faring forth."

¹⁵ All of them he brings up with a fishhook; he is impounding them in his seine net and is gathering them in his dragnet, therefore his heart is rejoicing and exulting." ¹⁶ Therefore he is sacrificing to his seine net and is fuming incense to his dragnet, for his portion is stout by them, and his food plump."

¹² It comes at that season I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and I visit evil on the mortals who are curdled on their lees, those saying in their heart, Yahweh will not do good, nor will He do evil."

¹¹ In that day you shall not be ashamed of all your practices, in which you transgressed against Me, for then will I take away from within you those who are joyous in your pride, and you shall not continue further to be haughty in My holy mountain."

¹¹ Yet they are refusing to attend, and they are giving a stubborn shoulder, and their ears they make heavy against hearing, ¹² and their hearts they make corundum against hearing the law and the words which Yahweh of hosts sent by His spirit, by the hand of the former prophets. And great wrath is coming from Yahweh of hosts."

⁸ And I am suppressing three shepherds in one month. Yet my soul is impatient with them; and, moreover, their soul is nauseated with me."

² Yet I will gather all nations to Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be seized, and the houses are rifled, and the women ravished. And half the city shall fare forth into deportation. Yet the rest of My people shall not be cut off from the city."

⁴⁸ Now if that evil slave should be saying in his heart, 'Delaying is my lord,'"

⁷ a woman came to Him having an alabaster vase of attar, very precious, and she pours it down on His head at His lying back at table." ⁸ Now perceiving it, His disciples resent it, saying, "Why this destruction? ⁹ For this could be disposed of for much and given to the poor."

²⁴ Moreover, woe to you who are rich, for you are collecting your consolation!" ²⁵ Woe to you who are filled now, for you shall be hungering! Woe to you who are laughing now, for you shall be mourning and lamenting!"

¹⁷ And he reasoned in himself, saying, 'What shall I be doing, seeing that I have no where to gather my fruits?'" ¹⁸ And he said, 'This will I be doing: I will pull down my barns, and greater ones will I build, and I will gather there all my grain and my good things." ¹⁹ And I will be declaring to my soul, "Soul, many good things have you laid up for many years. Rest, eat, drink, make merry."'" ²⁰ Yet God said to him, 'Imprudent one! In this night your soul are they demanding from you. Now, what you make ready, whose will it be?'"

¹⁹ Now a certain man was rich and he dressed in purple and cambric, daily making merry splendidly."

⁴⁴ and will be leveling you and your children in you, and they will not be leaving a stone on a stone in you, because you knew not the era of your visitation."

²⁴ And they shall be falling by the edge of the sword and shall be led into captivity into all nations. And Jerusalem shall be trodden by the nations, until the eras of the nations may be fulfilled."

³ Mary, then, taking a pound troy of veritable nard attar, very precious, rubs the feet of Jesus and wipes off His feet with her hair. Now the house was filled with the odor of the attar."

²⁰ Verily, verily, I am saying to you that you shall be lamenting and wailing, yet the world will be rejoicing; yet you shall be sorrowed, but your sorrow shall become joy."

⁵¹ Stiff-necked and uncircumcised in your hearts and ears, you are ever clashing with the holy spirit! As your fathers, you also!" ⁵² Which of the prophets do not your fathers persecute? And they kill those who announce before concerning the coming of the Just One, of Whom now you became the traitors and murderers -"

¹⁵ so as to be rejoicing with those rejoicing, lamenting with those lamenting."

¹³ As in the day, respectably, should we be walking, not in revelries and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and jealousy, ¹⁴ but put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and be making no provision for the lusts of the flesh."

²⁶ And whether one member is suffering, all the members are sympathizing, or one member is being esteemed, all the members are rejoicing with it."

³ Now whenever they may be saying "Peace and security,then extermination is standing by them unawares, even as a pang over the pregnant, and they may by no means escape."

²³ No longer drink water only, but be using a sip of wine for your stomach and your frequent infirmities."

¹³ For God, promising Abraham, since He had no one greater to swear by, swears by Himself, ¹⁴ saying, "If, in sooth, it is blessing, I shall be blessing you, and multiplying, I shall be multiplyingyou!" ¹⁵ And thus, being patient, he happened on the promise." ¹⁶ For men are swearing by a greater, and to them an oath for confirmation is an end of all contradiction, ¹⁷ in which God, intending more superabundantly to exhibit to the enjoyers of the allotment of the promise the immutability of His counsel, interposes with an oath,

¹⁸ By intention, He teems forth us by the word of truth, for us to be some firstfruit of His own creatures."

¹⁶ Yet now you are vaunting in your ostentations. All such boasting is wicked.

⁵ You luxuriate on the earth, and squander. You nourish your hearts as in a day of slaughter."

³ For sufficient is the time which has passed by to have effected the intention of the nations, having gone on in wantonness, lusts, debauches, revelries, drinking bouts, and illicit idolatries,

⁷ tossing your entire worry on Him, for He is caring concerning you."

⁴ and saying, "Where is the promise of His presence? For since the fathers were put to repose, all is continuing thus from the beginning of creation."

¹⁰ And those dwelling on the earth are rejoicing over them and are making merry, and will be sending approach presents to one another, seeing that these two prophets torment those dwelling on the earth."

¹⁷ for in one hour was desolated so much riches!' "And every navigator, and every one who is sailing at the place, and mariners and whoever are working on the sea, stand afar off,

²² And the sound of lyre singers and entertainers, and of flutists and trumpeters should be heard in you nevermore; and every artificer of every trade may be found in you nevermore; and the sound of a millstone should be heard in you nevermore;"
