²³ Now instantly a messenger of the Lord smites him, because he gives not the glory to God, and, becoming the food of worms, he gives up his soul."

¹⁷ Still you are heaping yourself up against My people so as not to dismiss them.

³ So Moses and Aaron entered to Pharaoh and said to him: Thus says Yahweh, Elohim of the Hebrews, How long will you refuse to be humbled because of My presence? Dismiss My people that they may serve Me!"

¹² For I will pass through the land of Egypt in this night and smite every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from human even unto beast, and on all the elohim of Egypt I shall execute judgments; I am Yahweh.

²³ When Yahweh passes through to strike the Egyptians and sees the blood on the lintel and on the two jambs then Yahweh will pass over the portal and shall not allow the ruiner to enter into your houses to strike.

²⁹ It came to be at midnight that Yahweh, He smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, sitting on his throne, unto the firstborn of the captive who was in the house of the cistern, and every firstborn of beast.

³⁸ And it comes to pass, [in] about ten days, that Yahweh smites Nabal, and he dies,

¹⁶ and the messenger puts forth his hand to Jerusalem to destroy it, and Yahweh repents concerning the evil, and said to the messenger who is destroying among the people, `Enough, now, cease your hand;' and the messenger of Yahweh was near the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite. <sup>17</sup> And David speaks unto Yahweh, when he sees the messenger who is smiting among the people, and said, `Lo, I have sinned, yea, I have done perversely; and these--the flock--what have they done? Let, I pray You, Your hand be on me, and on the house of my father..

³⁵ And it comes to pass, in that night, that a messenger of Yahweh goes out, and smites in the camp of Asshur a hundred eighty and five thousand, and they rise early in the morning, and lo, all of them [are] dead corpses.

¹⁴ And Yahweh gives a pestilence in Israel, and there fall of Israel seventy thousand men, ¹⁵ and Elohim sends a messenger to Jerusalem to destroy it, and as he is destroying Yahweh has seen, and is comforted concerning the evil, and said to the messenger who [is] destroying, `Enough, now, cease your hand.' And the messenger of Yahweh is standing by the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite, <sup>16</sup> and David lifts up his eyes, and sees the messenger of Yahweh standing between the earth and the heavens, and his sword drawn in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem, and David falls, and the elders, covered with sackcloth, on their faces. <sup>17</sup> And David said unto Elohim, `Did not I--I say to number the people? Yea, I it [is] who have sinned, and done great evil:and these, the flock, what did they? O Yahweh, my Elohim, let, I pray You, Your hand be on me, and on the house of my father, and not on Your people--to be plagued.. ¹⁸ And the messenger of Yahweh spoke unto Gad, saying for David, `Surely David does go up to raise an altar to Yahweh in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite..

¹⁸ And after all this has Yahweh plagued him in his bowels by a disease for which there is no healing, ¹⁹ and it comes to pass, from days to days, and at the time of the going out of the end of two years, his bowels have gone out with his sickness, and he dies of sore diseases, and his people have not made for him a burning like the burning of his fathers.

²¹ and Yahweh sends a messenger, and cuts off every mighty one of valor--both leader and head--in the camp of the king of Asshur, and he turns back with shame of face to his land, and enters the house of his elohim, and those coming out of his bowels have caused him to fall there by the sword.

⁵ My flesh is clothed with maggot and dirty scab; My skin is split apart and is fetid.

²⁶ And behind my skin I will stand erect, And from my flesh I shall perceive Eloah,

¹ Not to us, O Yahweh, not to us, But to Your Name give glory, On account of Your benignity, Your faithfulness."

¹¹ Down to the unseen is brought your pomp, the throngs of your exulters. The maggot is berthing under you, and the worm is covering you."

²³ Whom do you reproach and taunt? And against Whom do you raise high your voice? And you are lifting up your eyes to the height against the Holy One of Israel?

⁸ For, as if a garment, eating them is the moth, and, as if wool, eating them is the roach. Yet My righteousness for the eon shall come, and My salvation for the generation of generations."

²⁴ And they fare forth and see the corpses of the mortals, the transgressors against Me, for their worm shall not die, and their fire shall not be quenched, and they become a repulsion to all flesh."

² `Son of man, say to the leader of Tyre:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because your heart has been high, And you do say:A el I [am], The habitation of Elohim I have inhabited, In the heart of the seas, And you [are] man, and not El, And you give out your heart as the heart of Elohim,

⁹ Do you really say, `I [am] Elohim,' Before him who is slaying you? And you [are] man, and not El, In the hand of him who is piercing you."

³⁰ Responding is the king to all this by saying, "Is not this Babylon great that I have built to be the house of the kingdom within the might of my safeguarding walls, for the esteem of my honor!" ³¹ While the matter is still in the mouth of the king, a voice falls from the heavens, "To you are they saying, King Nebuchadnezzar:The kingdom passes away from you." ³² From mortals are they shoving you, and with the animals of the field is your abode. Herbage will they feed to you, as oxen. Thus seven seasons shall pass on over you till you shall know that the Supreme is in authority in the kingdom of mortals and to whom He is willing He is giving it." ³³ In the same hour the declaration gathered on Nebuchadnezzar:From mortals is he shoved, herbage is he eating, as oxen, and the night mist of the heavens is streaking his frame, till his hair increased as vultures' feathers and his claws are as those of birds." ³⁴ And at the end of the days, I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to the heavens, and my knowledge is returning to me. Then I blessed the Supreme, and I lauded and honored Him Who is living for the eon, seeing that His jurisdiction is an eonian jurisdiction, and His kingdom is with generation after generation." ³⁵ All abiding on the earth are reckoned as naught:According to His will is He doing in the army of the heavens and with those abiding on the earth. And no one will actually clap with his hands and say to Him, "What doest Thou? ³⁶ In the stated time my knowledge is returning to me:For the esteem of my kingdom, my honor and my aspect is returning to me. And to me my retinue and my grandees are petitioning, and over my kingdom I am set in due order, and excellent majesty was added to me." ³⁷ Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, am lauding and exalting and honoring the King of the heavens, seeing that all His deeds are verity, and His paths are adjudication; and all walking in pride He can abase."

¹⁸ You, O king! The Supreme Eloah granted the kingdom and majesty and esteem and honor to Nebuchadnezzar your grandfather." ¹⁹ And from the majesty that He granted to him, all peoples, leagues, and language-groups were stirred and terrified before him. Whom he will he is despatching, and whom he will he is preserving alive; whom he will he exalts, and whom he will he abases." ²⁰ Yet when his heart was exalted and his spirit was mightily arrogant, he was deposed from the throne of his kingdom and they caused his esteem to pass away from him:" ²¹ From the sons of mortals was he shoved, his heart was made equal to an animal's and with the wild donkeys was his abode. Herbage are they feeding to him, as oxen, and by the night mist of the heavens was his frame streaked, till he knew that the Supreme Eloah is in authority in the kingdom of mortals, and whom He is willing is He setting up over it." ²² Yet you, his grandson Belshazzar, you abase not your heart in Eloah's sight, forasmuch as all this you know." ²³ Over the Lord, the Eloah of the heavens, you exalt yourself; the vessels of His house they bring hither before you; you and your grandees, your consorts and your concubines are drinking turbid wine from them. Also elohim of silver, gold, copper, iron, wood, and stone who are not perceiving and not hearing and not knowing, these you laud, yet the Eloah in Whose hand is your breath, and for Whom are all your paths, Him you do not honor." ²⁴ From before Him then is being sent the fingertip of that hand and is this writing signified.

⁴³ And if your hand should ever be snaring you, strike it off. It is ideal for you to be entering into life maimed, rather than, having two hands, to come away into Gehenna, into the unextinguished fire" ⁴⁴ where their worm is not deceasing and the fire is not going out. ⁴⁵ And if your foot should be snaring you, strike it off. For it is ideal for you to be entering into life maimed or lame, rather than, having two feet, to be cast into Gehenna, into the unextinguished fire, ⁴⁶ where their worm is not deceasing and the fire is not going out. ⁴⁷ And if your eye should be snaring you, cast it out. It is ideal for you to be entering into the kingdom of God one-eyed, rather than, having two eyes, to be cast into the Gehenna of fire, ⁴⁸ where their worm is not deceasing and the fire is not going out.

⁴⁷ Now that slave who knows the will of his lord and does not make ready, nor yet does aught with a view to his will, shall have many lashes." ⁴⁸ Now he who does not know, yet does what deserves blows, shall have few lashes. Now to everyone to whom much was given, from him much will be sought, and to whom they committed much, more excessively will they be requesting of him."

²⁵ Now as Peter came to enter, Cornelius, meeting with him, falling at his feet, worships." ²⁶ Yet Peter raises him, saying, "Rise! I myself also am a man."

¹⁴ Now, on hearing this, the apostles Barnabas and Paul, tearing their garments, spring out into the throng, crying" ¹⁵ and saying, "Men! Why are you doing these things? We also are men, of like emotions as you, bringing the evangel to you to turn you back from these vain things to the living God, Who makes heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them,

⁴ who is opposing and lifting himself up over everyone termed a god or an object of veneration, so that he is seated in the temple of God, demonstrating that he himself is God?
