²⁵ and Hezekiah has not returned according to the deed [done] unto him, for his heart has been lofty, and there is wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem;"

¹² lest, when you eat and are satisfied and build good houses and dwell in them, ¹³ and your herd and your flock multiply, and silver and gold increase for you, and all that is yours is abundant, ¹⁴ then your heart becomes exalted and you forget Yahweh your Elohim Who was bringing you forth from the country of Egypt, from the house of servants,

¹⁷ Guard yourself lest you say in your heart:My vigor and the staunchness of my hand make for me this great estate.

⁶ Is this what you requite to Yahweh, you decadent and unwise people? Is not He your Father Who acquired you? He Himself made you and established you.

¹ And the anger of Yahweh adds to burn against Israel, and [an adversary] moves David about them, saying, `Go, number Israel and Judah..

¹⁰ And the heart of David smites him, after that he has numbered the people, and David said unto Yahweh, `I have sinned greatly in that which I have done, and now, O Yahweh, cause to pass away, I pray You, the iniquity of Your servant, for I have acted very foolishly.. <sup>11</sup> And David rises in the morning, and the word of Yahweh has been unto Gad the prophet, seer of David, saying, <sup>12</sup> `Go, and you have spoken unto David, Thus said Yahweh:Three--I am lifting up for you, choose you one of them, and I do [it] to you.. ¹³ And Gad comes in unto David, and declares to him, and said to him, `Do seven years of famine come in to you in your land? or three months are you fleeing before your adversary--and he pursuing you? or are three days' pestilence in your land? now, know and see what word I take back to Him sending me.. <sup>14</sup> And David said unto Gad, `I have great distress, let us fall, I pray you, into the hand of Yahweh, for many [are] His mercies, and into the hand of man let me not fall.. ¹⁵ And Yahweh gives a pestilence on Israel from the morning even unto the time appointed, and there die of the people, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba, seventy thousand men, ¹⁶ and the messenger puts forth his hand to Jerusalem to destroy it, and Yahweh repents concerning the evil, and said to the messenger who is destroying among the people, `Enough, now, cease your hand;' and the messenger of Yahweh was near the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite. <sup>17</sup> And David speaks unto Yahweh, when he sees the messenger who is smiting among the people, and said, `Lo, I have sinned, yea, I have done perversely; and these--the flock--what have they done? Let, I pray You, Your hand be on me, and on the house of my father..

¹⁰ You have certainly smitten Edom, and your heart has lifted you up; be honored, and abide in your house; and why do you stir yourself up in evil, that you have fallen, you, and Judah with you?.

¹³ and Hezekiah hearkens unto them, and shows them all the house of his treasury, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the good ointment, and all the house of his vessels, and all that has been found in his treasuries; there has not been a thing that Hezekiah has not showed them, in his house, and in all his dominion.

¹ And there stands up an adversary against Israel, and persuades David to number Israel,

¹² either for three years--famine, or three months to be consumed from the face of your adversaries, even the sword of your enemies to overtake, or three days the sword of Yahweh, even pestilence in the land, and a messenger of Yahweh destroying in all the border of Israel; and now, see; what word do I return to Him who is sending me?. ¹³ And David said unto Gad, `I am greatly distressed, let me fall, I pray you, into the hand of Yahweh, for very many [are] His mercies, and into the hand of man let me not fall.. <sup>14</sup> And Yahweh gives a pestilence in Israel, and there fall of Israel seventy thousand men, <sup>15</sup> and Elohim sends a messenger to Jerusalem to destroy it, and as he is destroying Yahweh has seen, and is comforted concerning the evil, and said to the messenger who [is] destroying, `Enough, now, cease your hand.' And the messenger of Yahweh is standing by the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite, ¹⁶ and David lifts up his eyes, and sees the messenger of Yahweh standing between the earth and the heavens, and his sword drawn in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem, and David falls, and the elders, covered with sackcloth, on their faces. ¹⁷ And David said unto Elohim, `Did not I--I say to number the people? Yea, I it [is] who have sinned, and done great evil:and these, the flock, what did they? O Yahweh, my Elohim, let, I pray You, Your hand be on me, and on the house of my father, and not on Your people--to be plagued..

² and go out unto his presence does Jehu son of Hanani, the seer, and said unto king Jehoshaphat, `To give help to the wicked, and to those hating Yahweh, do you love? and for this against you [is] wrath from before Yahweh,

¹⁸ and they forsake the house of Yahweh, Elohim of their fathers, and serve the shrines and the idols, and there is wrath upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their guilt.

¹⁹ You have said, Lo, I have smitten Edom; and your heart has lifted you up to boast; now, abide in your house, why do you stir yourself up in evil, that you have fallen, you, and Judah with you?.

¹⁶ And at his being strong his heart has been high unto destruction, and he trespasses against Yahweh his Elohim, and goes in unto the temple of Yahweh to make perfume upon the altar of perfume.

³¹ and so with the ambassadors of the heads of Babylon, those sending unto him to inquire of the wonder that has been in the land, Elohim has left him to try him, to know all in his heart,

¹² What can I restore to Yahweh For all His bountiful dealings toward me? ¹³ I shall take up the cup of salvation And call on the Name of Yahweh.

² `Son of man, say to the leader of Tyre:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because your heart has been high, And you do say:A el I [am], The habitation of Elohim I have inhabited, In the heart of the seas, And you [are] man, and not El, And you give out your heart as the heart of Elohim,

⁵ By the abundance of your wisdom, Through your merchandise, You have multiplied your wealth, And high is your heart through your wealth."

¹⁷ High has been your heart, because of your beauty, You have corrupted your wisdom because of your brightness, On the earth I have cast you, Before kings I have set you, to look on you,

²⁰ Yet when his heart was exalted and his spirit was mightily arrogant, he was deposed from the throne of his kingdom and they caused his esteem to pass away from him:"

²³ Over the Lord, the Eloah of the heavens, you exalt yourself; the vessels of His house they bring hither before you; you and your grandees, your consorts and your concubines are drinking turbid wine from them. Also elohim of silver, gold, copper, iron, wood, and stone who are not perceiving and not hearing and not knowing, these you laud, yet the Eloah in Whose hand is your breath, and for Whom are all your paths, Him you do not honor."

² Take words with you and return to Yahweh, your Elohim; say to Him:Wilt You bear away all the depravity? Take the good, and we will repay with the fruit of our lips."

⁴ Behold! it is made presumptuous:his soul is not upright in him. Yet the just one by his faith shall live.

¹⁷ Now, answering, Jesus said, "Are not the ten cleansed? Yet where are the nine? ¹⁸ Were none found returning to give glory to God except this foreigner?

⁷ Wherefore also, lest I should be lifted up by the transcendence of the revelations, there was given to me a splinter in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, that he may be buffeting me, lest I may be lifted up. "

⁶ no novice, lest, being conceited, he should be falling into the judgment of the Adversary."

⁵ Likewise, younger men may be subject to the elder, yet all wear the servile apron of humility with one another, for God "is resisting the proud, yet is giving grace to the humble." ⁶ Be humbled, then, under the mighty hand of God, that He should be exalting you in season,
