¹³ `Do you not know what I have done--I and my fathers--to all peoples of the lands? Were the elohims of the nations of the lands at all able to deliver their land out of my hand?

²⁹ In the days of Pekah king of Israel has Tiglath-Pileser king of Asshur come, and takes Ijon, and Abel-Beth-Maachah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and removes them to Asshur.

⁵ And the king of Asshur goes up into all the land, and he goes up to Samaria, and lays siege against it three years;" ⁶ in the ninth year of Hoshea has the king of Asshur captured Samaria, and removes Israel to Asshur, and causes them to dwell in Halah, and in Habor, [by] the river Gozan, and [in] the cities of the Medes.

³³ `Have the elohims of the nations delivered at all each his land out of the hand of the king of Asshur? ³⁴ Where [are] the elohims of Hamath and Arpad? where the elohims of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah, that they have delivered Samaria out of my hand? ³⁵ Who [are they] among all the elohims of the lands that have delivered their land out of my hand, that Yahweh does deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?.

¹¹ Lo, you have heard that which the kings of Asshur have done to all the lands--to devote them; and you are delivered!" ¹² did the elohims of the nations deliver them whom my fathers destroyed--Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the sons of Eden, who [are] in Thelassar? ¹³ Where [is] the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah?.

¹⁷ `Truly, O Yahweh, kings of Asshur have laid waste the nations, and their land, ¹⁸ and have put their elohims into fire, for they [are] no elohims, but work of the hands of man, wood and stone, and destroy them. ¹⁹ And now, O Yahweh our Elohim, save us, we pray You, out of his hand, and know do all kingdoms of the earth that You [are] Yahweh Elohim--Yourself alone..

¹⁹ and they speak against the Elohim of Jerusalem as against the elohims of the peoples of the land--work of the hands of man.

³ Indeed our Elohim is in the heavens; All that He desires, He does." ⁴ Their fetishes are silver and gold, The work of human hands;" ⁵ They have a mouth, but they cannot speak; They have eyes, but they cannot see;" ⁶ They have ears, but they cannot hear; They have a nose, but they cannot smell;" ⁷ Their hands, they cannot feel with them; Their feet, they cannot walk with them; They cannot even mumble in their throat." ⁸ Like them, may their makers become, All who are trusting in them."

⁹ Is not, as Carchemish, Calno? Should not, as Arphad, be Hamath? Should not, as Damascus, be Samaria? ¹⁰ As my hand found all the kingdoms of the forbidden idols, and their carvings, more than Jerusalem's and than Samaria's,

¹⁴ and my hand is finding, as a nest, the estate of the peoples, and, as one gathers forsaken eggs, the entire earth do I gather. And no one comes to be ruffling a wing, or opening wide the mouth and chirping."

¹² Have the elohim of the nations rescued them, those who my forefathers ruined, Gozan and Haran and Rezeph and the sons of Eden who were in Thelassar, the land of Teman? ¹³ Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arphad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, and Hena and Ivah and Samaria?'"

¹⁸ Truly, Yahweh, the kings of Assyria did drain all the nations, and their land, ¹⁹ and put their elohim into the fire, for no elohim are they, but rather the make of human hands, wood and stone, and they are destroying them." ²⁰ And now, Yahweh, our Elohim, pray, save us, from his hand, and all the kingdoms of the earth shall know that You, Yahweh, are Elohim, You alone."

⁸ You must not be afraid! And you must not fear! Have I not hitherto announced it to you, and told it? And you are My witnesses. Forsooth, is there an Eloah apart from Me? And no other Rock is there. I fail to know of any." ⁹ Formers of carvings, all of them are a chaos. And makers of their coveted idols shall fail to benefit. And their witnesses they will fail to see and fail to know, that they may be ashamed, ¹⁰ Who form an el, and cast a carving which fails to benefit."

¹¹ Thus do you say to them, The elohims Who the heavens and earth have not made, They do perish from the earth, And from under these heavens." ¹² The maker of the earth by His power, The establisher of the world by His wisdom, Who, by His understanding, stretched forth the heavens,

¹⁶ Not like these [is] the Portion of Jacob, For framer of all things [is] He, And Israel [is] the rod of His inheritance, Yahweh of Hosts [is] His name."

³⁰ Responding is the king to all this by saying, "Is not this Babylon great that I have built to be the house of the kingdom within the might of my safeguarding walls, for the esteem of my honor!"

³⁷ Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, am lauding and exalting and honoring the King of the heavens, seeing that all His deeds are verity, and His paths are adjudication; and all walking in pride He can abase."

¹⁹ And from the majesty that He granted to him, all peoples, leagues, and language-groups were stirred and terrified before him. Whom he will he is despatching, and whom he will he is preserving alive; whom he will he exalts, and whom he will he abases."

²⁶ and you are beholding and hearing that, not only of Ephesus, but of almost the entire province of Asia, this Paul by his persuading causes a considerable throng to stand aloof, saying that they are not gods which are coming into being by means of hands."

⁴ Then, concerning the feeding on the idol sacrifices: We are aware that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God except One."
