⁹ Now, those intending to be rich are falling into a trial and a trap and the many foolish and harmful desires which are swamping men in extermination and destruction."

¹⁰ And lifting is Lot his eyes and is seeing all the basin of the Jordan, for all of it was irrigated before Yahweh wrecked Sodom and Gomorrah, as the garden of Yahweh Elohim, as the land of Egypt as you come to Zoar. ¹¹ And choosing is Lot for his all the basin of the Jordan. And journeying is Lot east. And being parted are they, each man from his brother. ¹² Abram dwells in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwells in the cities of the basin. And tenting is he as far as Sodom. ¹³ Now the mortals of Sodom are evil and sinners against Yahweh Elohim exceedingly.

¹⁷ for I shall glorify, yea glorify you exceedingly, and all that you may say to me I shall do. So come now I pray, revile this people for me. ¹⁸ Yet Balaam answered and said to the servants of Balak:If Balak were giving to me the fullness of his house in silver and gold I could not cross the bidding of Yahweh my Elohim to do what is small or great. ¹⁹ Yet now dwell, I pray, you too, in this place, for the night; then I shall know what Yahweh shall continue to speak with me.

⁸ As for the kings of Midian, they killed them along with their men wounded to death:Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba, five kings of Midian. Also Balaam son of Beor they killed with the sword.

²⁵ You shall burn the carvings of their elohim with fire. You shall not covet the silver and gold on them or take it for yourselves, lest you be trapped by it, for it is an abhorrence to Yahweh your Elohim.

¹¹ Israel has sinned, and also they have transgressed My covenant which I commanded them, and also taken of the devoted thing, and also stolen, and also deceived, and also put [it] among their vessels,

²⁴ And Joshua takes Achan son of Zerah, and the silver, and the robe, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his ox, and his ass, and his flock, and his tent, and all that he has, and all Israel with him, and they cause them to go up the valley of Achor. ²⁵ And Joshua said, `What! you have troubled us! --Yahweh does trouble you this day;' and all Israel cast stones at him, and they burn them with fire, and they stone them with stones, <sup>26</sup> and they raise up over him a great heap of stones unto this day, and Yahweh turns back from the heat of His anger, therefore has [one] called the name of that place `Valley of Achor' till this day.

²⁰ And Gehazi, servant of Elisha the man of Elohim, said, `Lo, my lord has spared Naaman this Aramean, not to receive from his hand that which he brought; Yahweh lives; surely if I have run after him, then I have taken from him something.. <sup>21</sup> And Gehazi pursues after Naaman, and Naaman sees one running after him, and alights from off the chariot to meet him, and said, `Is there peace?. ²² And he said, `Peace; my lord has sent me, saying, Lo, now, this, come unto me have two young men from the hill-country of Ephraim, of the sons of the prophets; give, I pray you, to them, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.. <sup>23</sup> And Naaman said, `Be pleased, take two talents;' and he urges on him, and binds two talents of silver in two purses, and two changes of garments, and gives unto two of his young men, and they bear before him;" ²⁴ and he comes in unto the high place, and takes out of their hand, and lays up in the house, and sends away the men, and they go. ²⁵ And he has come in, and does stand by his lord, and Elisha said unto him, `Whence--Gehazi?' and he said, `Your servant went not hither or thither.. ²⁶ And he said unto him, `My heart went not when the man turned from off his chariot to meet you; is it a time to take silver, and to take garments, and olives, and vines, and flock, and herd, and men-servants, and maid-servants? ²⁷ yea, the leprosy of Naaman does cleave to you, and to your seed, --to the eon;' and he goes out from before him--leprous as snow.

⁶ Let Him rain coals of fire and sulfur on the wicked, And let a simoon wind be the assigned portion of their cup.

¹⁷ For gratuitously is the net tossed Before the eyes of all the possessors of wings. ¹⁸ Yet they themselves wait in ambush for their own blood; They lurk for their own souls. ¹⁹ Such is the end of all who are greedy for gain; It takes away the soul of its possessors.

²⁷ He who is greedy for gain brings trouble on his house, Yet he who hates bribes shall live."

²¹ An allotment rashly gained at first Shall not be blessed at last.

⁶ The contriving together of treasures by a false tongue Is a vanity whisked away for those seeking death.

¹⁶ He who extorts from the poor to increase his gain And he who gives to the rich will surely come to want.

⁴ Do not weary yourself in order to become rich; In your understanding forbear.

²⁰ A faithful man shall have many blessings, Yet he who rushes to be rich shall not be held innocent." ²¹ To be biased is not good, Yet for a morsel of bread a master may transgress." ²² A man who is stingy of eye is rash to get wealth, Yet he does not know that want shall come to him."

⁸ Woe to those touching house to house, bringing field near to field unto the limits of a place! That from an associate they may withdraw it, and it causes you to dwell all alone within the land!"

⁷ Ephraim is a trafficker; in his hand are scales of deceit; he loves to extort. ⁸ And Ephraim is saying, Yea, I am rich; I find virility for myself; all is my labor. They will not find with me depravity which is sin."

⁴ Hear this, you who are snuffing up the needy in the morning, and who eradicate the humble of the land, ⁵ saying, when will the new moon pass, that we may retail victuals, and the sabbath, that we may open out the cereal, to make the ephah measure small, and to make the shekel weight great, and to distort the scales by deceit, ⁶ to buy the poor for silver, and the needy for the sake of a pair of sandals? Even the tailings of the cereal we will retail!"

⁵ whose acquirers will kill, yet will not be guilty. And their sellers will say, Blessed is Yahweh! And we shall be rich! And their own shepherds shall not spare them."

²² Now he who is being sown in the thorns, this is he who is hearing the word, and the worry of this eon and the seduction of riches are stifling the word, and it is becoming unfruitful."

²² Now, hearing this word, the youth came away sorrowing, for he had many acquisitions."

¹⁵ Now they weigh for him thirty pieces of silver.

³ Then Judas, who gives Him up, perceiving that He was condemned, regretting, turns back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders, ⁴ saying, "I sinned in giving up innocent blood.Yet they said, "What is it to us? You should be seeing to that!" ⁵ And, tossing the silver pieces into the temple, he retires, and, coming away, strangles himself."

¹⁹ and the worries of this eon, and the seduction of riches and the desires about the rest, going in, are stifling the word, and it is becoming unfruitful."

³⁵ as a trap, for it will intrude on all those sitting on the surface of the entire earth."

⁴ Did it not, while remaining, remain yours? And, being disposed of, it belonged to you by right. Why is it that you placed this matter in your heart? You do not lie to men, but to God." ⁵ Now Ananias, hearing these words, falling down, gives up the soul. And great fear came on all those hearing these things."

²⁰ Yet Peter said to him, "May your silver be for destruction together with you, seeing that you infer that the gratuity of God is to be acquired by means of money!"

²² to put off from you, as regards your former behavior, the old humanity which is corrupted in accord with its seductive desires,

⁹ being aware of this, that law is not laid down for the just, yet it is for the lawless and insubordinate, the irreverent and sinners, the malign and profane, thrashers of fathers and thrashers of mothers, homicides,

⁷ Yet he must have an ideal testimony also from those outside, that he should not be falling into the reproach and trap of the Adversary."

²⁶ and they will be sobering up out of the trap of the Adversary, having been caught alive by him, for that one's will."

¹ Come now, you rich, lament, howling for your wretchedness which is coming on you! " ² Your riches have rotted and your garments have become food for moths. ³ Your gold and silver corrode and their venom will be for a testimony against you, and the venom will be eating your flesh as fire. You hoard in the last days." ⁴ Lo! the wage of the workers, who mow your country places, which has been withheld by you, is crying, and the imploring of the reapers has entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts."

³ and in greed, with suave words, they will traffic in you, whose judgment of old is not idling, and their destruction is not nodding."

¹⁵ Leaving the straight path, they were led astray, following out the path of Balaam of Beor, who loves the wages of injustice, ¹⁶ yet was exposed for his own outlawry. A voiceless yoke-beast, uttering with a human voice, forbids the insanity of the prophet."

¹⁵ Be not loving the world, neither that which is in the world. If ever anyone is loving the world, the love of the Father is not in him, ¹⁶ for everything that is in the world, the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the ostentation of living, is not of the Father, but is of the world." ¹⁷ And the world is passing by, and its desire, yet he who is doing the will of God is remaining for the eon."

¹¹ Woe to them! for they went in the way of Cain, and in the deception of Balaam's wages were they poured out, and in the contradiction of Korah they perished."
