²² And Solomon stands before the altar of Yahweh, over-against all the assembly of Israel, and spreads his hands towards the heavens,

²⁹ Moses said to him: As I go forth from the city I shall spread my palms to Yahweh, and the thundering sounds shall halt, and the hail shall come no longer, so that you may know that the earth is Yahweh's.

³³ When Moses went from Pharaoh from the city, and he spread his palms to Yahweh, then the thundering sounds halted, and the hail and the rain was not poured forth earthward.

⁵⁴ And it comes to pass, at Solomon's finishing to pray unto Yahweh all this prayer and supplication, he has risen from before the altar of Yahweh, from bending on his knees, and his hands spread out to the heavens,

¹⁴ and looks, and lo, the king is standing by the pillar, according to the ordinance, and the heads, and the trumpets, [are] by the king, and all the people of the land are rejoicing, and blowing with trumpets, and Athaliah rends her garments, and calls, `Conspiracy! conspiracy!.

³ And the king stands by the pillar, and makes the covenant before Yahweh, to walk after Yahweh, and to keep His commands, and His testimonies, and His statutes, with all the heart, and with all the soul, to establish the words of this covenant that are written on this book, and all the people stand in the covenant.

¹² And he stands before the altar of Yahweh, over-against all the assembly of Israel, and spreads out his hand, -. ¹³ for Solomon has made a scaffold of brass, and puts it in the midst of the court, five cubits its length, and five cubits its breadth, and three cubits its height, and he stands upon it, and kneels on his knees over-against all the assembly of Israel, and spreads forth his hands towards the heavens-. ¹⁴ and said, `O Yahweh Elohim of Israel, there is not like You an elohim in the heavens and in the earth, keeping the covenant and the kindness for Your servants who are walking before You with all their heart;" <sup>15</sup> who have kept for Your servant David my father that which You did speak to him; yea, You do speak with Your mouth, and with Your hand have fulfilled [it], as at this day. <sup>16</sup> `And now, O Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, keep for Your servant David my father that which You did speak to him, saying, There is not cut off to you a man from before Me, sitting on the throne of Israel, only, if your sons watch their way to walk in My law, as you have walked before Me. ¹⁷ `And now, O Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, is Your word stedfast that You have spoken to Your servant, to David, <sup>18</sup> (for is it true? --Elohim dwells with man on the earth! Lo, the heavens, and the heavens of the heavens, do not contain You, how much less this house that I have built?. <sup>19</sup> `And You have turned unto the prayer of Your servant, and unto his supplication, O Yahweh my Elohim, to hearken unto the cry and unto the prayer that Your servant is praying before You, ²⁰ for Your eyes being open towards this house by day and by night, towards the place that You have said to put Your name there, to hearken unto the prayer that Your servant prays towards this place. ²¹ `And You have hearkened unto the supplications of Your servant, and of Your people Israel, that they pray towards this place, and You do hear from the place of Your dwelling, from the heavens, and have hearkened, and forgiven. <sup>22</sup> `If a man does sin against his neighbor, and he has lifted up on him an oath to cause him to swear, and the oath has come in before Your altar in this house-. ²³ then You do hear from the heavens, and have done, and have judged Your servants, to give back to the wicked, to put his way on his head, and to declare righteous the righteous, to give to him according to his righteousness. ²⁴ `And if Your people Israel is smitten before an enemy, because they sin against You, and they have turned back and confessed Your name, and prayed and made supplication before You in this house-. <sup>25</sup> then You do hear from the heavens, and have forgiven the sin of Your people Israel, and caused them to turn back unto the ground that You have given to them, and to their fathers. <sup>26</sup> `In the heavens being restrained, and there is no rain, because they sin against You, and they have prayed towards this place, and confessed Your name--from their sin they turn back because You do afflict them-. ²⁷ then You do hear in the heavens, and have forgiven the sin of Your servants, and of Your people Israel, because You direct them unto the good way in which they walk, and have given rain on Your land that You have given to Your people for an inheritance. ²⁸ `Famine, when it is in the land, pestilence, when it is, blasting, and mildew, locust, and caterpillar, when they are, when its enemies have distressed it in the land--its gates, any plague and any sickness;" <sup>29</sup> any prayer, any supplication that is for any man, and for all Your people Israel, when they know each his own plague, and his own pain, and he has spread out his hands towards this house. <sup>30</sup> then You do hear from the heavens, the settled place of Your dwelling, and have forgiven, and have given to each according to all his ways (because You know his heart, for You--You only--have known the heart of the sons of men), <sup>31</sup> so that they fear You, to walk in Your ways, all the days that they are living on the face of the ground that You have given to our fathers. <sup>32</sup> `And also, unto the stranger who is not of Your people Israel, and he has come from a land afar off for the sake of Your great name, and Your strong hand, and Your stretched-out arm, and they have come in and prayed towards this house. ³³ then You do hear from the heavens, from the settled place of Your dwelling, and have done according to all that the stranger calls unto You for:so that all the peoples of the earth do know Your name, so as to fear You, as Your people Israel, and to know that Your name is called on this house that I have built. ³⁴ `When Your people does go out to battle against its enemies in the way that You do send them, and they have prayed unto You the way of this city that You have fixed on, and the house that I have built for Your name. <sup>35</sup> then You have heard from the heavens their prayer and their supplication, and have maintained their cause. <sup>36</sup> `When they sin against You--for there is not a man who sins not--and You have been angry with them, and have given them before an enemy, and taken them captive have their captors, unto a land far off or near;" ³⁷ and they have turned [it] back unto their heart in the land whither they have been taken captive, and have turned back, and made supplication unto You in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done perversely, and have done wickedly;" ³⁸ yea, they have turned back unto You with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their captivity, whither they have taken them captive, and they have prayed the way of their land that You have given to their fathers, and of the city that You have chosen, and of the house that I have built for Your name. ³⁹ then You have heard from the heavens, from the settled place of Your dwelling, their prayer and their supplications, and have maintained their cause, and forgiven Your people who have sinned against You. ⁴⁰ `Now, my Elohim, let, I beseech You, Your eyes be open, and Your ears attentive, to the prayer of this place. ⁴¹ and now, rise, O Yahweh Elohim, to Your rest, You, and the ark of Your strength; Your priests, O Yahweh Elohim, are clothed with salvation, and Your saints rejoice in the goodness, ⁴² O Yahweh Elohim, turn not back the face of Your anointed, be mindful of the kind acts of David Your servant..

⁵ Then at the time of the evening approach present I arose from my self-abasement and, with my garment and my robe torn on me, I bowed down on my knees and spread out my palms to Yahweh my Elohi.

¹³ If you yourself prepare your heart, And you spread out your palms to Him,

² Hear the voice of my supplications When I implore to You, When I lift up my hands toward Your Innermost Sanctuary."

⁴ So shall I bless You in all my life. In Your Name shall I lift up my palms,

¹⁵ And when you spread your palms to Me, I will obscure My eyes from you. Moreover, in case you are increasing your prayers, there is no hearing by Me. Your hands are full of blood. Amidst your fingers extrudes lawlessness."

⁸ I am intending, then, that men pray in every place, lifting up benign hands, apart from anger and reasoning."
