¹⁶ They profess to know God, but in their works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.

¹⁶ hearing the oracles of God, receiving knowledge from the Most High, and having seen a vision of God in sleep; his eyes were opened.

²² And Samuel said, Does the Lord take as great pleasure in whole burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in hearing the words of the Lord? Behold, obedience is better than a good sacrifice, and hearkening than the fat of rams.

²⁴ And Saul said to Samuel, I have sinned, in that I have transgressed the word of the Lord and your direction; for I feared the people, and I listened to their voice.

¹⁶ Alas then, abominable and unclean is man, drinking unrighteousness as a draught.

¹³ And the Lord has said, This people draw near to Me with their mouth, and they honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me; and in vain do they worship Me, teaching the commandments and doctrines of men.

¹ Hear these words, you house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and have come forth out of Judah, who swear by the name of the Lord God of Israel, making mention of it, but not with truth, nor with righteousness;

² They seek Me day by day, and desire to know My ways, as a people that had done righteousness, and had not forsaken the judgment of their God; they now ask of Me righteous judgment, and desire to draw near to God,

³⁰ Call them reprobate silver, because the Lord has rejected them.

³¹ They approach you as a people that come together, and sit before you, and hear your words, but they will not do them; for there is falsehood in their mouth, and their heart goes after their pollutions.

² They shall soon cry out to Me, saying, O God, we know You. ³ For Israel has turned away from good things; they have pursued an enemy.

²⁸ And just as they did not approve to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do the things which are not fitting;

¹⁸ and know His will, and approve the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law, ¹⁹ and are persuaded that you are a guide to the blind, a light to those in darkness, ²⁰ an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law. ²¹ You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal? ²² You who say, "Do not commit adultery," do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you commit sacrilege? ²³ You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God through the transgression of the law? ²⁴ For "The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you," just as it is written.

⁶ Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

⁹ knowing this: that the law is not laid down for the righteous, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for killers of fathers and killers of mothers, for murderers,

⁸ But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

⁵ having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from these people turn away! ⁶ For of these are those who creep into houses and captivate gullible women having been loaded down with sins, who are led by various lusts, ⁷ always learning and never being able to come to a full knowledge of the truth. ⁸ And in just the way Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, thus also these resist the truth: men corrupted in mind, disapproved regarding the faith.

⁴ He who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

⁴ For certain men have crept in unawares, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, changing the grace of our God into licentiousness and denying the only Master God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁸ But the cowardly, and unbelieving, and sinners, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and drug users, and idolaters, and all who are false shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

²⁷ But there shall by no means enter into it any common thing, and the one doing an abomination and a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
