¹ And the people murmured sinfully before the Lord; and the Lord heard them and was very angry; and fire was kindled among them from the Lord, and devoured a part of the camp. ² And the people cried to Moses, and Moses prayed to the Lord, and the fire was quenched. ³ And the name of that place was called Burning; for a fire was kindled among them from the Lord. ⁴ And the mixed multitude among them lusted exceedingly; and they and the children of Israel sat down and wept and said, Who shall give us meat to eat? ⁵ We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt; and the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the garlic, and the onions. ⁶ But now our soul is dried up; our eyes turn to nothing but to the manna. ⁷ And the manna is as coriander seed, and the appearance of it is as bdellium. ⁸ And the people went through the field and gathered, and ground it in the mill, or pounded it in a mortar, and baked it in a pan, and made cakes of it; and the sweetness of it was as the taste of a wafer made with oil. ⁹ And when the dew came upon the camp by night, the manna came down upon it. ¹⁰ And Moses heard them weeping by their families, everyone in his door. And the Lord was very angry; and the thing was evil in the sight of Moses. ¹¹ And Moses said to the Lord, Why have You afflicted Your servant, and why have I not found grace in Your sight, that You should lay the weight of this people upon me? ¹² Have I conceived all this people, or have I born them? That You say to me, Take them into your bosom, as a nurse would take her suckling, into the land which You swore to their fathers? ¹³ Where am I to get the meat to give to all these people? For they weep to me, saying, Give us meat, that we may eat. ¹⁴ I shall not be able to bear these people alone, for this thing is too heavy for me. ¹⁵ And if You do thus to me, slay me utterly, if I have found favor with You, that I may not see my affliction. ¹⁶ And the Lord said to Moses, Gather Me seventy men from the elders of Israel, whom you yourself know that they are the elders of the people, and their scribes; and you shall bring them to the tabernacle of witness, and they shall stand there with you. ¹⁷ And I will go down, and speak there with you; and I will take of the spirit that is upon you, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear together with you the burden of the people, and you shall not bear them alone. ¹⁸ And to the people you shall say, Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat; for you wept before the Lord, saying, Who shall give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt: and the Lord shall allow you to eat meat, and you shall eat meat. ¹⁹ You shall not eat one day, nor two, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days; ²⁰ you shall eat for a full month, until the meat comes out of your nostrils; and it shall be loathsome unto you, because you disobeyed the Lord, who is among you, and wept before Him, saying, What had we to do to come out of Egypt? ²¹ And Moses said, The people whom I am among are six hundred thousand footmen; and You said, I will give them meat to eat, and they shall eat a whole month. ²² Shall sheep and oxen be slain for them, and shall it suffice them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, and shall it suffice them? ²³ And the Lord said to Moses, Shall not the hand of the Lord be fully sufficient? Now shall you know whether My word shall come to pass to you or not. ²⁴ And Moses went out, and spoke the words of the Lord to the people. And he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and he set them round about the tabernacle. ²⁵ And the Lord came down in a cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and put it upon the seventy men that were elders; and when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied and ceased. ²⁶ And there were two men left in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad; and the spirit rested upon them, and these were of the number of them that were enrolled, but they did not come to the tabernacle; and they prophesied in the camp. ²⁷ And a young man ran and told Moses, and spoke, saying, Eldad and Modad are prophesying in the camp. ²⁸ And Joshua the son of Nun, who attended on Moses, the chosen one, said, My lord Moses, forbid them. ²⁹ And Moses said to him, Are you jealous on my account? And would that all the Lord's people were prophets; whenever the Lord shall put His spirit upon them. ³⁰ And Moses departed into the camp, himself and the elders of Israel. ³¹ And there went forth a wind from the Lord, and brought quails over from the sea; and it brought them down upon the camp a day's journey on this side, and a day's journey on that side, round about the camp, as it were two cubits from the earth. ³² And the people rose up all the day, and all the night, and all the next day, and gathered quails; he that gathered least gathered ten measures; and they refreshed themselves round about the camp. ³³ The flesh was yet between their teeth, before it failed, when the Lord was angry with the people, and the Lord struck the people with a very great plague. ³⁴ And the name of that place was called the Graves of Lust; for there they buried the people that lusted. ³⁵ The people departed from the Graves of Lust to Asheroth; and the people halted at Asheroth.

¹⁰ And his doing this appeared evil before God; and He killed him also.

²³ And they came to Marah, and they could not drink the water of Marah, for it was bitter; therefore he named the name of that place, Bitterness. ²⁴ And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?

² all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron. ³ And the children of Israel said to them, Would we had died smitten by the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the fleshpots, and ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness, to slay all this congregation with hunger.

⁷ and in the morning you shall see the glory of the Lord, inasmuch as He hears your murmuring against God; and who are we, that you continue to murmur against us?

⁹ And Moses said to Aaron, Say to all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before God; for He has heard your murmuring.

² And the people reviled Moses, saying, Give us water, that we may drink! And Moses said to them, Why do you revile me, and why do you tempt the Lord? ³ And the people thirsted there for water, and there the people murmured against Moses, saying, Why is this? Have you brought us up out of Egypt to slay us and our children and our cattle with thirst?

² and fire came forth from the Lord, and devoured them, and they died before the Lord.

³³ And they departed from the mount of the Lord a three days' journey; and the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them, a three days' journey to provide rest for them.

³⁵ And fire went forth from the Lord, and devoured the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.

² And there was no water for the congregation. And they gathered themselves together against Moses and Aaron. ³ And the people reviled Moses, saying, If only we had died in the destruction of our brethren before the Lord! ⁴ And why have you brought up the congregation of the Lord into this wilderness, to kill us and our cattle? ⁵ And why is this? You have brought us up out of Egypt, that we should come into this evil place; a place where there is no sowing, neither figs, nor vines, nor pomegranates, neither is there water to drink.

⁵ And the people spoke against God and against Moses, saying, Why is this? Have you brought us out of Egypt to slay us in the wilderness? For there is not bread nor water, and our soul loathes this light bread.

²² Also in the burning, and in the temptation, and at the Graves of Lust, you provoked the Lord.

¹⁸ how he withstood you in the way, and harassed your rear, even those that were weary behind you, and you hungered and were weary; and he did not fear God.

²² For a fire has been kindled out of My wrath, it shall burn to hell below; it shall devour the land, and the fruits of it; it shall set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

²⁷ And the time of mourning expired, and David sent and took her into his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son: but the thing which David did was evil in the eyes of the Lord.

¹² And Elijah answered and spoke to him, and said, If I am a man of God, fire shall come down out of heaven, and devour you and your fifty. And fire came down out of heaven, and devoured him and his fifty.

¹⁶ While he was yet speaking, there came another messenger, and said to Job, Fire has fallen from heaven, and burned up the sheep, and likewise have devoured the shepherds; and I alone have escaped, and have come to tell you.

²¹ Therefore the Lord heard, and was provoked: and fire was kindled in Jacob, and wrath went up against Israel.

¹⁸ And a fire was kindled in their congregation, and a flame burned up the sinners.

³³ For you shall be required before your time; has it been prepared for you also to reign? No, God has prepared for you a deep trench, wood piled, fire and much wood; the wrath of the Lord shall be as a trench kindled with sulphur.

¹⁴ The sinners in Zion have departed; trembling shall seize the ungodly. Who will tell you that a fire is kindled? Who will tell you of the eternal place?

³⁹ ( { ξ}) MEM. Why should a living man complain, a man concerning his sin?

⁵ The mountains quake at Him, and the hills are shaken, and the earth recoils at His presence, even the world, and all that dwell in it.

⁴³ If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It would be better for you to enter into life maimed, than to enter having two hands, to go into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched-- ⁴⁴ where 'Their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.' ⁴⁵ "And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It would be better for you to enter into life lame, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched-- ⁴⁶ where 'Their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.' ⁴⁷ "And if your eye causes you to stumble, cast it out. It would be better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into the fiery hell, ⁴⁸ where 'Their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.' ⁴⁹ "For everyone will be salted with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt.

¹⁰ nor murmer, just as also some of them murmered, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

²⁹ For our God is a consuming fire.

⁴ Indeed, the wages of the laborers who reaped your fields, which were kept back by you, cry out, and the cries of the reapers have entered into the ears of the Lord of Hosts.

¹⁶ These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaks puffed up words, flattering people to gain advantage.

²³ And Abraham drew near and said, Would You destroy the righteous with the wicked, and shall the righteous be as the wicked? ²⁴ Should there be fifty righteous in the city, will You destroy them? Will You not spare the whole place for the sake of the fifty righteous, if they be in it? ²⁵ Far be it from You to do such at thing, so as to destroy the righteous with the wicked, so the righteous shall be as the wicked: far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? ²⁶ And the Lord said, If there should be in Sodom fifty righteous in the city, I will spare the whole city, and the whole place for their sakes. ²⁷ And Abraham answered and said, Now I have begun to speak to my Lord, and I am but dust and ashes. ²⁸ But if the fifty righteous should be diminished to forty-five, will You destroy the whole city because of the five that are lacking? And He said, I will not destroy it, if I should find there forty-five. ²⁹ And he continued to speak to Him still, and said, But if there should be found there forty? And He said, I will not destroy it for the forty's sake. ³⁰ And he said, Will there be anything against me, Lord, if I shall speak? But if there be found there thirty? And He said, I will not destroy it for the thirty's sake. ³¹ And he said, Since I am able to speak to the Lord, what if there should be found there twenty? And He said, I will not destroy it, if I should find there twenty. ³² And he said, Will there be anything against me, Lord, if I speak yet once more? But if there should be found there ten? And He said, I will not destroy it for the ten's sake. ³³ And the Lord departed, when He left off speaking to Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.

¹⁰ Now therefore let Me alone, and I will be very angry with them and consume them, and I will make you a great nation. ¹¹ And Moses prayed before the Lord God, and said, Why, O Lord, are You very angry with Your people, whom You have brought out of the land of Egypt with great strength, and with Your mighty arm? ¹² Take heed lest at any time the Egyptians speak, saying, With evil intent He brought them out to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from off the earth; cease from Your wrathful anger, and be merciful to the sin of Your people, ¹³ remembering Abraham and Isaac and Jacob Your servants, to whom You have sworn by Yourself, and have spoken to them, saying, I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of heaven for multitude, and all this land which You spoke of to give to them, so that they shall possess it forever. ¹⁴ And the Lord was prevailed upon to preserve His people.

³¹ And Moses returned to the Lord and said, I pray, O Lord, this people have sinned a great sin, and they have made for themselves golden gods. ³² And now if You will forgive their sin, forgive; and if not, blot me out of Your book, which You have written.

⁹ and said, If I have found grace in Your sight, let my Lord go with us; for the people are stiff-necked: and You shall take away our sins and our iniquities, and we will be Yours.

¹³ And Moses said to the Lord, So Egypt shall hear, for You have brought up this people from them by Your might. ¹⁴ Moreover all the inhabitants of this land have heard that You are Lord in the midst of this people, who, O Lord, are seen by them face to face, and Your cloud rests upon them, and You go before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, and by night in a pillar of fire. ¹⁵ And if You shall destroy this nation as one man; then all the nations that have heard Your name shall speak, saying, ¹⁶ Because the Lord could not bring this people into the land which He swore to them, He has overthrown them in the wilderness. ¹⁷ And now, O Lord, let Your strength be exalted, as You spoke, saying, ¹⁸ The Lord is longsuffering and merciful, and true, removing transgressions and iniquities and sins, and He shall by no means clear the guilty, visiting the sins of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation. ¹⁹ Forgive this people their sin according to Your great mercy, as You were favorable to them from Egypt until now. ²⁰ And the Lord said to Moses, I am gracious to them according to your word.

⁴⁵ Depart out of the midst of this congregation, and I will consume them at once. And they fell upon their faces. ⁴⁶ And Moses said to Aaron, Take a censer, and put on it fire from the altar, and put incense on it, and carry it away quickly into the camp, and make atonement for them, for wrath has gone forth from the presence of the Lord, and it has begun to destroy the people. ⁴⁷ And Aaron did as Moses spoke to him, and ran among the congregation, for already the plague had begun among the people; and he put in the incense, and made an atonement for the people. ⁴⁸ And he stood between the dead and the living, and the plague ceased.

⁷ And the people came to Moses and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord, and against you: pray therefore to the Lord, and let Him take away the serpent from us.

¹⁹ And I was greatly terrified because of the wrath and anger, because the Lord was provoked with you utterly, to destroy you; yet the Lord hearkened to me at this time also. ²⁰ And He was angry with Aaron to destroy him utterly, and I prayed for Aaron also at that time.

³⁴ When He slew them, they sought Him; and they returned and sought diligently after God. ³⁵ And they remembered that God was their Helper, and the Most High God was their Redeemer.

²³ So He said that He would have destroyed them, had not Moses His chosen one stood before Him in the breach, to turn Him away from the fierceness of His anger, so that He should not destroy them.

⁴ May the Lord your God hear the words of Rabshakeh, which the king of the Assyrians has sent, to reproach the living God, even to reproach with the words which the Lord your God has heard; therefore you shall pray to your Lord for these that are left.

¹ And the Lord said to me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before My face, My soul could not be toward them: dismiss this people, and let them go forth.

³ And King Zedekiah sent Jehucal son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the priest, son of Maaseiah, to Jeremiah, saying, Pray now for us to the Lord.

² to Jeremiah the prophet, and said to him, Let now our supplication come before your face, and pray to the Lord your God for this remnant; for we are left but a few out of many, as your eyes see.

² And it came to pass when he had finished devouring the grass of the land, that I said, Lord God, be merciful; who shall raise up Jacob? For he is small in number. ³ Relent, O Lord, of this. And this shall not be, says the Lord. ⁴ Thus has the Lord showed me; and behold, the Lord called for judgment by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and devoured the Lord's portion. ⁵ Then I said, O Lord, cease, I pray: who shall raise up Jacob? For he is small in number. Relent, O Lord, of this. ⁶ This also shall not be, says the Lord.

²⁴ Then Simon answered and said, "Pray to the Lord for me, that none of the things which you have spoken may come upon me."

²⁶ For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, innocent, undefiled, having been separated from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens;

¹⁶ Confess your transgressions to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of the righteous is very powerful.

¹ My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. And if someone should sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. ² And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not only concerning ours, but also concerning those of the whole world.

¹⁶ If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and He shall give him life for those who do not sin unto death. There is a sin leading to death. I do not say that he should ask about that.

³⁸ And a great mixed company went up with them, and sheep and oxen and very much cattle.

¹⁰ And there went forth a son of an Israelite woman, and he was son of an Egyptian man among the sons of Israel; and they fought in the camp, the son of the Israelite woman, and a man who was an Israelite. ¹¹ And the son of the Israelite woman named THE NAME and cursed; and they brought him to Moses. And his mother's name was Shelomith, daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.

³ And it came to pass, when they heard the law, that they were separated, even every alien in Israel.

¹⁸ And they tempted God in their hearts, in asking meat for the desire of their souls. ¹⁹ They spoke also against God, and said, Will God be able to prepare a table in the wilderness? ²⁰ Forasmuch as He struck the rock, and the waters flowed, and the torrents ran abundantly; will He be able also to give bread, or prepare a table for His people?

¹⁴ And they lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the dry land.

¹⁴ But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, for its lusts.

⁶ Now these things became examples for us, in order that we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

³³ Do not be deceived: "Evil associations corrupts good habits."

³ And the children of Israel said to them, Would we had died smitten by the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the fleshpots, and ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness, to slay all this congregation with hunger.

¹⁴ because of the enemies of Your hand. O Lord, destroy them from the earth; scatter them in their life, though their belly has been filled with Your hidden treasures; they have been satisfied with uncleanness, and have left the remnant of their possessions to their babes.

¹⁹ whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame--who are mindful of earthly things.

⁴ And he said to him, What ails you, that you are weak like this? O son of the king, morning by morning? Will you not tell me? And Amnon said, I love Tamar the sister of my brother Absalom.

¹² And the gold of that land is good, there also is carbuncle and emerald.

¹⁴ In the morning it came to pass as the dew ceased round about the camp, that behold, on the face of the wilderness was a small thing like white coriander seed, as frost upon the earth. ¹⁵ And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, What is this? For they knew not what it was; and Moses said to them,

³¹ And the children of Israel called the name of it Manna; and it was as white coriander seed, and the taste of it as a wafer with honey.

²³ but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block, and to the Greeks foolishness, ²⁴ but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

¹⁷ He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to him some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except he who receives it." '

¹⁶ This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat. This is that which the Lord has appointed; gather of it each man for his family, a homer for each person, according to the number of your souls, gather each of you with his fellow lodgers. ¹⁷ And the children of Israel did so and gathered, some much, and some less. ¹⁸ And having measured the homer full, he that gathered much had nothing left over, and he that had gathered less had no lack; each gathered according to the need of those who belonged to him.

²³ And Moses said to them, Is not this the word which the Lord spoke? Tomorrow is the Sabbath, a holy rest to the Lord: bake what you will bake, and boil what you will boil, and all that is left over lay aside for tomorrow.

²⁷ Work not for the food which perishes, but for the food which abides unto everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give to you; for upon Him God the Father has set His seal."

³³ For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." ³⁴ Then they said to Him, "Lord, give us this bread always." ³⁵ And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. ³⁶ But I told you that you have both seen Me and you do not believe. ³⁷ All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. ³⁸ For I have come down from heaven, not that I might do My will, but the will of Him who sent Me. ³⁹ And this is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me, I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. ⁴⁰ And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day." ⁴¹ Therefore the Jews were murmuring about Him, because He said, "I am the bread which came down from heaven." ⁴² And they were saying, "Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then does this Man say, 'I have come down from heaven'?" ⁴³ Jesus therefore answered and said to them, "Do not murmur among yourselves. ⁴⁴ No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me should draw him; and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, 'And they shall all be taught of God.' Therefore everyone who hears from the Father, and has learned, comes to Me. ⁴⁶ Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from God; He has seen the Father. ⁴⁷ Most assuredly I say to you, he who believes in Me has eternal life. ⁴⁸ I am the bread of life. ⁴⁹ Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and died. ⁵⁰ This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world." ⁵² Therefore the Jews were contending with one another, saying, "How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?" ⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. ⁵⁴ Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up in the last day. ⁵⁵ For My flesh truly is food, and My blood truly is drink. ⁵⁶ He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. ⁵⁷ Just as the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. ⁵⁸ This is the bread which came down from heaven, not as your fathers ate the manna, and died. He that eats this bread shall live forever."

¹³ And it was evening, and quails came up and covered the camp. ¹⁴ In the morning it came to pass as the dew ceased round about the camp, that behold, on the face of the wilderness was a small thing like white coriander seed, as frost upon the earth.

² Let my speech be looked for as the rain, and my words come down as dew, as the shower upon the herbage, and as snow upon the grass.

²³ Yet He commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven, ²⁴ and rained upon them manna to eat, and gave them the bread of heaven. ²⁵ Man ate angels' bread; He sent them provision to the full.

⁴⁰ They asked, and the quail came, and He satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

¹ And the people murmured sinfully before the Lord; and the Lord heard them and was very angry; and fire was kindled among them from the Lord, and devoured a part of the camp.

³ And the man Moses was very meek beyond all the men that were upon the earth.

¹ And all the congregation lifted up their voice and cried; and the people wept all that night. ² And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron; and all the congregation said to them,

²⁷ And they stood aloof from the tent of Korah round about; and Dathan and Abiram went forth and stood by the doors of their tents, and their wives and their children and their store.

¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron assembled the congregation before the rock, and said to them, Hear me, you disobedient; must we bring you water out of this rock? ¹¹ And Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock with his rod twice; and much water came forth, and the congregation drank, and their cattle. ¹² And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, Because you have not believed Me to sanctify Me before the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. ¹³ This is the water of Strife, because the children of Israel spoke insolently before the Lord, and He was sanctified in them.

⁵⁹ God heard and lightly regarded them, and greatly despised Israel.

²⁵ And they murmured in their tents; they hearkened not to the voice of the Lord.

³² They provoked Him also at the Water of Strife, and Moses was hurt for their sakes; ³³ for they provoked his spirit, and he spoke unadvisedly with his lips.

²¹ Have I not hated them, O Lord, that hate You? And have I not wasted away because of Your enemies?

²⁵ Therefore the Lord of hosts was greatly angered against His people, and He reached forth His hand upon them, and struck them. And the mountains were troubled, and their carcasses were as dung in the midst of the streets; yet for all this His anger has not been turned away, but His hand is yet raised.

⁵ And looking around at them with anger, being grieved at the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.

¹⁴ But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, "Allow the little children come to Me, do not hinder them; for of such is the kingdom of God.

²² And Moses turned to the Lord and said, I pray, O Lord, why have You afflicted this people? And why have You sent me?

⁴ And Moses cried to the Lord, saying, What shall I do to this people? Yet a little while and they will stone me.

¹⁵ And if You do thus to me, slay me utterly, if I have found favor with You, that I may not see my affliction.

¹² How shall I alone be able to bear your labor, and your burden, and your complaints?

² And I will say to the Lord, Do not teach me to be impious; and wherefore have You thus judged me?

³ If You, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?

² And enter not into judgment with Your servant, for in Your sight shall no man living be justified.

¹⁰ Woe is me, my mother! You have born me as some man of strife, and at variance with the whole earth. I have not helped others, nor has anyone helped me; my strength has failed among them that curse me.

¹⁸ Why do they that grieve me prevail against me? My wound is severe; when shall I be healed? It has indeed become to me as deceitful water that has no faithfulness.

⁷ You have deceived me, O Lord, and I have been deceived. You have been strong, and have prevailed. I have become a laughing stock, I am continually mocked every day. ⁸ For I will laugh with my bitter speech, I will call upon rebellion and misery; for the word of the Lord has become a reproach to me and a mockery all my days. ⁹ Then I said, I will by no means name the name of the Lord, and I will no longer speak in His name. But it was a burning fire flaming in my bones, and I am utterly weakened on all sides, and cannot bear up.

¹⁴ Cursed be the day in which I was born! Let the day not be blessed in which my mother bore me! ¹⁵ Cursed be the man who brought the glad tidings to my father, saying, A male child has been born to you. ¹⁶ Let that man rejoice as the cities which the Lord overthrew in wrath, and repented not: let him hear crying in the morning, and loud lamentation at noon; ¹⁷ because he slew me not in the womb, and my mother became not my tomb, and her womb always enlarged with me. ¹⁸ Why is it that I came forth from the womb to see troubles and distresses, and my days are spent in shame?

²² ( { η}) HETH. It is through the mercies of the Lord that He has not failed me, because His compassions are not exhausted. Pity us, O Lord, early every month: for we are not brought to an end, because His compassions are not exhausted. ²³ They are new every morning: great is Your faithfulness.

³⁹ ( { ξ}) MEM. Why should a living man complain, a man concerning his sin? ⁴⁰ ( { π}) NUN. Our way has been searched out and examined, and we will turn to the Lord.

¹⁴ You said, He that serves God labors in vain: and what have we gained in that we have kept His ordinances, and in that we have walked as suppliants before the face of the Lord Almighty?

²⁸ apart from what I leave unmentioned, what comes against me daily: the anxiety for all the churches.

¹⁵ for all the land which you see, I will give to you and to your seed forever.

¹⁶ I have sworn by Myself, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and on My account have not spared your beloved son, ¹⁷ surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is by the shore of the sea, and your seed shall inherit the cities of their enemies.

³ And sojourn in this land; and I will be with you, and bless you, for I will give to you and to your seed all this land; and I will establish My oath which I swore to your father Abraham.

²⁴ And Joseph spoke to his brothers, saying, I die, and God will surely visit you, and will bring you out of this land to the land concerning which God swore to our fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

⁵ And it shall come to pass when the Lord your God shall have brought you into the land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Hivites and the Jebusites and the Girgashites and the Perizzites, which He swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall perform this service in this month.

¹¹ He shall tend His flock as a shepherd, and He shall gather the lambs with His arm, and He shall soothe them that are with young.

¹⁵ Will a woman forget her child, so as not to have compassion upon the offspring of her womb? But if a woman should even forget these, yet I will not forget you, says the Lord.

²³ And kings shall be your nursing fathers, and their princesses your nurses, they shall bow down to you on the face of the earth, and shall lick up the dust of your feet; and you shall know that I am the Lord, and they that wait on Me shall not be ashamed.

²³ And I will raise up one shepherd over them, and he shall tend them, even My servant David, and he shall be their shepherd;

¹¹ I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.

¹⁹ My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you!

⁷ But we proved to be gentle in your midst, as a nursing mother cherishes her own children.

³³ Then His disciples said to Him, "Where could we get so many loaves of bread in this deserted place, so as to satisfy so great a crowd?"

⁴ Then His disciples answered Him, "From where will anyone be able to satisfy these people with bread here in this deserted place?"

²³ Jesus said to him, "If you are able to believe: all things are possible to him that believes."

⁵ Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward Him, He said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread, that these people may eat?" ⁶ But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He was about to do. ⁷ Philip answered Him, "Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not enough for them, that each of them might receive a little." ⁸ One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to Him, ⁹ There is a little boy here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they for so many?"

¹⁸ You will wear away with intolerable weariness, both you and all these people who are with you: this thing is hard, you will not be able to endure it by yourself.

⁹ And I spoke to you at that time, saying, I shall not be able by myself to bear you. ¹⁰ The Lord your God has multiplied you, and behold, you are today as the stars of heaven in multitude. ¹¹ May the Lord God of your fathers add to you a thousand times more numerous than you already are, and bless you, as He has spoken to you. ¹² How shall I alone be able to bear your labor, and your burden, and your complaints?

¹⁹ Then You spoke in a vision to Your children, and said, I have laid help on a mighty one; I have exalted one chosen out of My people.

⁶ For a Child is born to us, and a Son is given to us, whose government is upon His shoulder; and His name is called the Messenger of great counsel; for I will bring peace upon the princes, and health to Him.

¹³ And He shall receive power, and shall sit and rule upon His throne; and there shall be a priest on His right hand, and a peaceable counsel shall be between them both.

¹⁶ To some we are the fragrance of death leading to death, but to others the fragrance of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things?

³² And now if You will forgive their sin, forgive; and if not, blot me out of Your book, which You have written.

⁴ And he himself went a day's journey in the wilderness, and came and sat under a juniper tree; and asked concerning his life that he might die, and said, Let it be enough now, O Lord, take my life from me, I pray, for I am no better than my fathers.

²⁰ For why is light given to those who are in bitterness, and life to those souls which are in grief? ²¹ Who desire death, and obtain it not, digging for it as for treasures; ²² and would be very joyful if they should gain it?

⁸ Oh, that He would grant my desire, and my petition might come, and the Lord would grant my hope! ⁹ Let the Lord begin to wound me, but let Him not utterly destroy me. ¹⁰ Let the grave be my city, upon the walls of which I have leaped: I will not shrink from it, for I have not denied the holy words of my God.

¹⁵ You will separate life from my spirit; and yet keep my bones from death.

¹⁸ Why is it that I came forth from the womb to see troubles and distresses, and my days are spent in shame?

³ And now, Lord God, take my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.

⁸ And it came to pass at the rising of the sun, that God commanded a burning east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, and he fainted, and despaired of his life, and said, It is better for me to die than to live. ⁹ And God said to Jonah, Are you very much grieved for the gourd? And he said, I am very much grieved, even to death.

¹⁵ The Lord has taken away your iniquities, He has ransomed you from the hand of your enemies: the Lord, the King of Israel, is in the midst of you: you shall not see evil any more.

²⁰ according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I will be ashamed, but with utmost boldness, as always, now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. ²¹ For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. ²² But if I am to live on in the flesh, this to me will mean fruit from my labor; and what I shall choose I do not know. ²³ For I am hard pressed by the two, having a desire to depart and to be with Christ, which is far better. ²⁴ But to remain in the flesh is more needful for your sake.

⁴ But let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.

²⁷ And the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in the land of Egypt were nine persons. All the persons of the house of Jacob who came with Joseph into Egypt were seventy-five persons.

²⁹ And Moses and Aaron went and gathered the elders of the children of Israel.

¹ And to Moses he said, Go up to the Lord, you and Aaron and Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel: and they shall worship the Lord from a distance.

⁹ And Moses went up, and Aaron, and Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel.

¹⁵ So I took of you wise and understanding and prudent men, and I set them to rule over you as rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, and rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens, and officers to your judges.

¹⁸ You shall make for yourself judges and officers in your cities, which the Lord your God gives you in your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment;

²⁸ Gather together to me the heads of your tribes, and your elders, and your judges, and your officers, that I may speak in their ears all these words; and I call both heaven and earth to witness against them.

¹¹ And seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel, and Jechoniah the son of Shaphan stood in their presence in the midst of them, and each one held his censer in his hand; and the smoke of the incense went up.

¹ Now after these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and He sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to come.

¹⁷ Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name."

⁵ And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the sons of men had built.

³ And Abram fell upon his face, and God spoke to him, saying,

²² And He left off speaking with him, and God went up from Abraham.

²⁰ And the Lord said, The cry of Sodom and Gomorrah has been increased towards Me, and their sins are very great. ²¹ I will therefore go down and see, if they completely correspond with the cry which comes to Me, and if not, I will know. ²² And the men, having departed from there, came to Sodom; and the Lord stood before Abraham.

³³ And the Lord departed, when He left off speaking to Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.

²² And they shall judge the people at all times, and those matters too burdensome they shall bring to you, but they shall judge the smaller cases; so they shall relieve you and help you.

¹¹ And let them be ready for the third day, for on the third day the Lord will descend upon Mount Sinai before all the people.

²⁰ And the Lord came down upon Mount Sinai on the top of the mountain; and the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.

⁵ And the Lord descended in a cloud, and stood near him there, and called by the name of the Lord.

²⁵ And the Lord came down in a cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and put it upon the seventy men that were elders; and when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied and ceased.

⁵ And the three came forth to the tabernacle of witness; and the Lord descended in a pillar of a cloud, and stood at the door of the tabernacle of witness; and Aaron and Miriam were called; and both came forth.

⁸ I will speak plainly to him, mouth to mouth, and not in dark speeches; and he has seen the glory of the Lord; and why were you not afraid to speak against My servant Moses?

¹⁸ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Take to yourself Joshua the son of Nun, a man who has the Spirit in him, and you shall lay your hands upon him.

⁶ And the Spirit of the Lord shall come upon you, and you shall prophesy with them, and you shall be changed into another man.

⁹ And it came to pass while they were crossing over, that Elijah said to Elisha, Ask what I shall do for you before I am taken up from you. And Elisha said, Let there be a double portion of your spirit upon me.

¹⁵ And the sons of the prophets who were in Jericho on the opposite side saw him, and said, The spirit of Elijah has rested upon Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed down before him to the ground.

²⁰ And You gave Your good Spirit to instruct them, and You did not withhold Your manna from their mouth, and gave them water in their thirst.

³ For I will give water to the thirsty that walk in a dry land; I will put My Spirit upon your seed, and My blessings upon your children;

²⁰ And the deliverer shall come for Zion's sake, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob. ²¹ And this shall be My covenant with them, said the Lord; My Spirit which is upon you, and the words which I have put in your mouth, shall never fail from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your seed, for the Lord has spoken it, henceforth and forever!

²⁸ And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.

¹³ And no one has gone up into heaven except He who came down out of heaven, the Son of Man, who is in heaven.

³⁹ (But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him were about to receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.)

³ Therefore, brothers, select seven men from among you, of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint for this need. ⁴ But we will faithfully engage in prayer and in the ministry of the word."

⁹ But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

¹² Now we did not receive the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, in order that we might know the things granted to us by God;

⁴ Now there are varieties of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit. ⁵ And there are varieties of ministries, but the same Lord. ⁶ And there are varieties of activities, but the same God works all in all. ⁷ But to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the profit {\I of all). ⁸ For to one is given a word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another a word of knowledge according to the same Spirit, ⁹ and to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, ¹⁰ to another the working of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another discerning of spirits, and to another different kinds of tongues, and to another interpretation of tongues. ¹¹ But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.

⁸ Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has given His Holy Spirit to you.

²² Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth through the Spirit in sincere love for the brothers, love one another fervently from a pure heart,

¹⁹ These are those who cause divisions, wordly, not having the Spirit.

² And Jacob said to his house, and to all that were with him, Remove the strange gods that are with you from the midst of you, and purify yourselves, and change your clothes.

³ And the children of Israel said to them, Would we had died smitten by the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the fleshpots, and ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness, to slay all this congregation with hunger. ⁴ And the Lord said to Moses, Behold, I will rain bread upon you out of heaven; and the people shall go forth, and they shall gather their daily portion for the day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not. ⁵ And it shall come to pass on the sixth day that they shall prepare whatsoever they have brought in, and it shall be double of what they shall have gathered for the day, daily. ⁶ And Moses and Aaron said to all the congregation of the children of Israel, At evening you shall know that the Lord has brought you out of the land of Egypt; ⁷ and in the morning you shall see the glory of the Lord, inasmuch as He hears your murmuring against God; and who are we, that you continue to murmur against us?

¹⁰ And the Lord said to Moses, Go down and solemnly charge the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments.

¹⁵ And he said to the people, Be ready: for three days do not come near to a woman.

⁴ And the mixed multitude among them lusted exceedingly; and they and the children of Israel sat down and wept and said, Who shall give us meat to eat? ⁵ We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt; and the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the garlic, and the onions. ⁶ But now our soul is dried up; our eyes turn to nothing but to the manna.

² And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron; and all the congregation said to them, ³ If only we would have died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we would have died in this wilderness! And why does the Lord bring us into this land to fall in war? Our wives and our children shall be for a prey: now then it is better to return into Egypt.

¹³ Rise, sanctify the people, and tell them to sanctify themselves for tomorrow. Thus says the Lord God of Israel: The accursed thing is among you; you shall not be able to stand before your enemies, until you shall have removed the accursed thing from among you.

² And the people came to Bethel, and sat there until evening before God. And they lifted up their voice and wept with a great weeping;

³⁹ whom our fathers did not desire to be obedient, but they rejected him and returned in their heart back to Egypt,

⁸ And Moses said, This shall be when the Lord gives you meat to eat in the evening, and bread in the morning to the full, because the Lord has heard your murmuring, which you murmur against us: and what are we? For your murmuring is not against us, but against God.

¹³ And it was evening, and quails came up and covered the camp.

²⁷ And Joshua said to the people, Behold, this stone shall be among you for a witness, for it has heard all the words that have been spoken to it by the Lord; for He has spoken to you this day; and this stone shall be among you for a witness in the last days, whenever you shall deal falsely with the Lord my God.

³⁰ Therefore thus says the Lord God of Israel: I said, Your house and the house of your father shall pass before Me forever: but now the Lord says, Far be it from Me; for I will only honor them that honor Me, and he that despises Me shall be despised.

¹⁹ And you have this day rejected God, who is Himself your Deliverer out of all your evils and afflictions. And you said, No, but you shall set a king over us: and now stand before the Lord according to your tribes, and according to your families.

¹⁰ Now therefore the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me, and you have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite, to be your wife.

²⁷ And He rained upon them flesh like dust, and feathered birds like the sand on the seashore. ²⁸ And they fell into the midst of their camp, round about their tents. ²⁹ So they ate, and were completely filled; and He gave them their desire. ³⁰ They were not disappointed of their desire, but when their food was yet in their mouth,

¹⁵ And He gave them their request, and sent fullness into their souls.

⁷ A full soul scorns honeycombs, but to a hungry soul even bitter things appear sweet.

⁶ A son honors his father, and a servant his master: if then I am a Father, where is My honor? And if I am a Master, where is My fear? Says the Lord Almighty. You the priests are they that despise My name: yet you said, In what way have we despised Your name?

⁴¹ "Behold, you despisers, and marvel and perish! For I will work a work in your days which you will by no means believe, though one were to declare it to you.' "

² And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you and magnify your name, and you shall be blessed.

³⁷ And the children Israel departed from Rameses to Succoth, to the full number of six hundred thousand footmen, even men, besides the baggage.

²⁶ He made the bronze laver, and the bronze base of it of the mirrors of the women that fasted, who fasted by the doors of the tabernacle of witness, in the day in which he set it up.

⁴⁶ six hundred and three thousand, five hundred and fifty.

³² This is the numbering of the children of Israel according to the houses of their families: all the numbering of the camps with their forces was six hundred and three thousand, five hundred and fifty.

² And the officer on whose hand the king rested answered Elisha and said, Behold, if the Lord would make floodgates in heaven, might this thing be? And Elisha said, Behold, you shall see with your eyes, but shall not eat thereof.

³⁷ But answering, He said to them, "You give them something to eat." And they said to Him, "Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give them something to eat?"

¹⁸ And Zacharias said to the angel, "How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years."

³⁴ Then Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I do not know a man?"

⁶ But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He was about to do. ⁷ Philip answered Him, "Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not enough for them, that each of them might receive a little."

⁹ There is a little boy here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they for so many?"

¹⁴ Shall anything be impossible with the Lord? At the appointed time I shall return to you, and Sarah shall have a son.

¹⁹ God is not as a man that He should waver, nor as a son of man that He should be threatened; shall He say and not perform? Shall He speak and not keep His word?

¹⁷ And the king appointed the officer on whose hand the king leaned to have charge over the gate; and the people trampled on him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spoke when the messenger came down to him. ¹⁸ So it came to pass as Elisha had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley shall be sold for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel; and it shall be as at this time tomorrow in the gate of Samaria. ¹⁹ And the officer answered Elisha, and said, Behold, if the Lord makes floodgates in heaven, shall this thing be? And Elisha said, Behold, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat thereof.

⁴¹ Yea, they turned back, and tempted God, and provoked the Holy One of Israel.

² Why did I come, and there was no man? Why did I call, and there was none to hearken? Is not My hand strong to redeem? Or can I not deliver? Behold, by My rebuke I will dry up the sea, and make rivers a wilderness; and their fish shall be dried up because there is no water, and shall die of thirst.

¹ Has the hand of the Lord no power to save? Or has He made His ear heavy, so that He should not hear?

²⁸ And they that escape the sword shall return to the land of Judah few in number, and the remnant of Judah, who have continued in the land of Egypt to dwell there, shall know whose word shall stand. ²⁹ And this shall be a sign to you, that I will visit you for evil.

²⁵ For I the Lord will speak My words; I will speak and perform them, and will delay no more, for in your days, O provoking house, I will speak the word, and will perform it, says the Lord.

¹⁴ I the Lord have spoken; and it shall come, and I will do it; I will not delay, neither will I have any mercy: I will judge you, says the Lord, according to your ways, and according to your devices. Therefore will I judge you according to your bloodshed, and according to your devices will I judge you, you unclean, notorious, and abundantly provoking one.

⁷ who says, The house of Jacob has provoked the Spirit of the Lord; are not these his practices? Are not the Lord's words right with him? And have they not proceeded correctly?

²⁶ And looking on them, Jesus said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

³⁵ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall by no means pass away.

³⁷ For with God nothing shall be impossible."

¹⁶ And the Lord said to Moses, Gather Me seventy men from the elders of Israel, whom you yourself know that they are the elders of the people, and their scribes; and you shall bring them to the tabernacle of witness, and they shall stand there with you.

²⁶ And there were two men left in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad; and the spirit rested upon them, and these were of the number of them that were enrolled, but they did not come to the tabernacle; and they prophesied in the camp.

³⁸ For a cloud was on the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night before all Israel, in all their journeys.

¹⁷ And I will go down, and speak there with you; and I will take of the spirit that is upon you, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear together with you the burden of the people, and you shall not bear them alone.

⁵ And afterward you shall go to the hill of God, where the encampment of the Philistines is. Nasib the Philistine is there. And it shall come to pass when you have entered into the city, that you shall meet a band of prophets coming down from the high place; and before them will be lutes, a drum, a pipe, and a harp, and they shall prophesy. ⁶ And the Spirit of the Lord shall come upon you, and you shall prophesy with them, and you shall be changed into another man.

¹⁰ And he came there to the hill, and behold, a band of prophets was opposite him. And the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied in the midst of them.

²⁰ And Saul sent messengers to take David, and they saw the assembly of the prophets, and Samuel stood as appointed over them; and the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they prophesied. ²¹ And it was told Saul, and he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. And Saul sent again a third set of messengers, and they also prophesied. ²² And Saul was very angry, and went himself also to Ramah, and he came as far as the well of the threshing floor that is in Sechu. And he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And they said, Behold, at Naioth in Ramah. ²³ And he went from there to Naioth in Ramah. Then the Spirit of God came upon him also, and he went on prophesying till he came to Naioth in Ramah. ²⁴ And he took off his clothes, and prophesied before them; and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they said, Is Saul also among the prophets?

⁷ He spoke to them in a pillar of cloud; they kept His testimonies, and the ordinances which He gave them.

⁵ And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am in prison; I cannot enter into the house of the Lord. ⁶ So you shall read this scroll in the ears of the people in the house of the Lord, on the day of fasting; and in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities, you shall read to them.

²⁸ And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. ²⁹ And on My servants and on My handmaids in those days will I pour out of My Spirit.

³⁴ Now as he said these things, a cloud appeared and overshadowed them; and they were afraid as they entered into the cloud. ³⁵ And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!"

¹⁷ "And it shall be in the last days", says God, "that I will pour from My Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy; and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;" ¹⁸ "And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

²⁸ And rising up, one of them named Agabus, foretold by the Spirit of a great famine about to happen in all the world, which also came to pass in the time of Claudius Caesar.

⁹ Now this man had four virgin daughters who prophesied. ¹⁰ And while we remained there several days, a certain prophet from Judea named Agabus came down. ¹¹ And coming to us and taking Paul's belt, and binding his feet and hands, he said, "Thus says the Holy Spirit, ' The man whose belt this is, the Jews will bind in this way in Jerusalem, and they will deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.' "

⁴ Every man who prays or who prophesies with his head covered, dishonors his head. ⁵ But every woman who prays or who prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her own head, for that is one and the same as if her head were shaved.

¹ Pursue love, and desire the spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. ² For he who speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not to men, but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. ³ But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort.

³² And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

²¹ for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being brought along by the Holy Spirit.

¹¹ And Moses said to God, Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and that I should bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt?

¹³ And Moses said, O Lord, I pray, appoint another able person whom You shall send. ¹⁴ And the Lord was greatly angered against Moses, and said, Lo! Is not Aaron the Levite your brother? I know that he will surely speak to you. And behold, he will come forth to meet you, and beholding you, he will rejoice within himself.

²² And Samuel asked yet again of the Lord, Will the man come here? And the Lord said, Behold, he is hid among the stuff.

²⁶ And Saul said nothing on that day, for he said, It seems to have fallen out that he is not clean, because he has not purified himself.

⁶ And I said, O Lord, Sovereign Lord, behold, I know not how to speak, for I am a child.

⁵ And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am in prison; I cannot enter into the house of the Lord.

⁹ And Moses said to Joshua, Choose out for yourself mighty men, and go forth and set the army in array against Amalek tomorrow; and behold, I shall stand on the top of the hill, and the rod of God will be in my hand.

¹¹ And the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as if one should speak to his friend; and he retired into the camp: but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.

¹ And it came to pass after the death of Moses, that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, the minister of Moses, saying,

³⁸ Now John answered Him, saying, "Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow with us casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us." ³⁹ But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name that will be able to soon speak evil of Me. ⁴⁰ For he who is not against you is for you.

⁴⁹ Now John answered and said, "Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us." ⁵⁰ But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is for us."

²⁶ And they came to John and said to him, "Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified--behold, this Man is baptizing, and all men are coming to Him!"

³⁷ Then He said to His disciples, "Indeed the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. ³⁸ Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest, that He may send forth workers into His harvest."

² Then He said to them, "The harvest indeed is great, but the workers are few; therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest that He may send forth workers into His harvest.

²⁹ And Paul said, "I would pray to God, both in a short time and a long time, not only you, but also all who are hearing me today, would become such as I am, except for these chains."

³ for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal, and walking according to human principles?

²¹ Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours:

⁴ Love is patient, love is kind; love does not envy; love does not boast, is not puffed up;

⁵ Now I wish you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you should prophesy; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edification.

¹⁵ Some indeed are preaching Christ even from envy and strife, but some also from good will: ¹⁶ The former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; ¹⁷ but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. ¹⁸ What then? Nevertheless in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice, yet also I will rejoice.

³ doing nothing according to selfish ambition or conceit, but with humility, regarding one another as being better than yourselves.

¹⁴ But if you have bitter jealousy and strife in your heart, do not boast and lie against the truth. ¹⁵ This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.

⁵ Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously"?

⁹ Do not murmur against one another, brothers, lest you be judged. Behold, the Judge stands before the doors!

¹ Therefore having put away all malice, all guile, hypocrisy, envy, and all slanders,

¹³ And Moses lifted up his rod towards heaven, and the Lord brought a south wind upon the earth, all that day and all that night. The morning dawned, and the south wind brought up the locusts,

¹⁹ And the Lord brought in the opposite direction a strong wind from the sea, and took up the locusts and cast them into the Red Sea, and there was not one locust left in all the land of Egypt.

¹⁰ You sent forth Your wind, the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty water.

²⁶ He removed the south wind from heaven; and by His might He brought in the south west wind. ²⁷ And He rained upon them flesh like dust, and feathered birds like the sand on the seashore. ²⁸ And they fell into the midst of their camp, round about their tents. ²⁹ So they ate, and were completely filled; and He gave them their desire.

⁷ Who brings up clouds from the extremity of the earth; He has made lightnings for the rain; He brings the winds out of His treasures.

³⁶ Now the homer was the tenth part of three measures.

¹¹ And in like manner there shall be one bath as a measure of capacity; the tenth of the homer shall be the bath, and the tenth of the homer shall be in fair proportion to the homer.

⁴⁹ And those that died in the plague were fourteen thousand seven hundred, besides those that died on account of Korah.

⁹ And those that died in the plague were twenty-four thousand.

²⁷ The Lord shall smite you with the botch of Egypt in the seat, and with a malignant scab, and itch, so that you can not be healed.

³⁰ They were not disappointed of their desire, but when their food was yet in their mouth, ³¹ then the indignation of God rose up against them, and slew the fattest of them, and overthrew the choice men of Israel.

¹⁴ And they lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the dry land. ¹⁵ And He gave them their request, and sent fullness into their souls.

¹⁶ And they departed from the Wilderness of Sinai, and encamped at the Graves of Lust.

¹⁶ And afterwards the people set forth from Asheroth, and encamped in the Wilderness of Paran.

¹ These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel on this side of the Jordan in the desert towards the west near the Red Sea, between Paran, Tophel, Laban, and Aulon, and the gold works.
