¹² Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, thus also you do to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

¹⁸ And your hand shall not avenge you; and you shall not be angry with the children of your people; and you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord

¹⁷ learn to do well; diligently seek judgment, deliver him that is suffering wrong, plead for the orphan, and obtain justice for the widow. ¹⁸ And come, let us reason together, says the Lord; and though your sins be as purple, I will make them white as snow; and though they be as scarlet, I will make them white as wool.

⁵ For if you thoroughly correct your ways and your practices, and do indeed execute judgment between a man and his neighbor; ⁶ and oppress not the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, and go not after strange gods to your hurt;

⁷ and shall not oppress any man, but shall return the pledge of the debtor, and shall be guilty of no plunder, shall give his bread to the hungry, and clothe the naked; ⁸ and shall not lend his money upon usury, and shall not receive usurious increase, and shall turn back his hand from injustice, shall execute righteous judgment between a man and his neighbor,

²¹ And if the transgressor shall turn away from all his iniquities which he has committed, and keep all My commandments, and do justice and mercy, he shall surely live, and shall no means die.

¹⁴ Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so the Lord God Almighty shall be with you, as you have said, ¹⁵ We have hated evil, and loved good; restore judgment in the gates, so that the Lord God Almighty may have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.

⁸ Has it not been told you, O man, what is good? Or what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, and love mercy, and be ready to walk with the Lord your God?

⁷ Are not these the words which the Lord spoke by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and her cities round about her, and the hill country and the low country was inhabited? ⁸ And the word of the Lord came to Zechariah, saying, ⁹ Thus says the Lord Almighty; Judge righteous judgment, and deal mercifully and compassionately, everyone with his brother, ¹⁰ and oppress not the widow, or the fatherless, or the stranger, or the poor; and let not one of you remember in his heart the injury of his brother.

¹⁶ These are the things which you shall do: speak truth everyone with his neighbor; judge truth and peaceable judgment in your gates: ¹⁷ and let none of you devise evil in his heart against his neighbor, and love not a false oath: for all these things I hate, says the Lord Almighty.

⁵ And I will draw near to you in judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the witches, and against the adulteresses, and against them that swear falsely by My name, and against them that keep back the hireling's wages, and them that oppress the widow, and afflict orphans, and that wrest the judgment of the stranger, and do not fear Me, says the Lord Almighty.

³⁹ And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' ⁴⁰ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

²⁹ Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God is one LORD. ³⁰ ' And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment. ³¹ And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." ³² So the scribe said to Him, "Well said, Teacher, in truth You said that He is one, and there is no other besides Him. ³³ And to love Him with the whole heart, and with the whole understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices." ³⁴ Now when Jesus saw that he answered intelligently, He said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And no one dared any longer to question Him.

³¹ And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.

⁸ Owe nothing to no one, except to love one another, for he who loves one another has fulfilled the law. ⁹ For, "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not kill," "You shall not steal," "You shall not covet," and if there is any other commandment, in this word it is summed up, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." ¹⁰ Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

¹³ For you, brothers were called to freedom; only do not use freedom for an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. ¹⁴ For all the law is fulfilled in one word, in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

⁵ Now the goal of the commandment is love out of a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith,

¹⁰ For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he has become guilty of all. ¹¹ For He who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "You shall not murder." Now if you do not commit adultery, but yet you murder, then you have become a transgressor of the law. ¹² So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. ¹³ For judgment is without mercy to the one who does not show mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
