¹² So he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here not having wedding clothes?' And he was speechless.

⁹ granting his petition to him that prays; and He blesses the years of the righteous, for by strength cannot man prevail.

¹⁶ And let the weak have hope, but the mouth of the unjust be stopped.

⁴² The upright shall see and rejoice; and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.

²³ How will you say, I am not polluted, and have not gone after Baal? Behold your ways in the burial ground, and know what you have done: her voice has howled in the evening;

²⁶ As is the shame of a thief when he is caught, so shall the children of Israel be ashamed; they, and their kings, and their princes, and their priests, and their prophets.

²⁰ For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

¹³ "But he answered one of them and said, 'Friend, I am not wronging you. Did you not agree with me for a denarius?

⁵⁰ But Jesus said to him, "Friend, why have you come?" Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and seized Him.

² And he kept back for himself from the price, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and placed it beside the feet of the apostles. ³ But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart for you to lie to the Holy Spirit, and for you to keep back for yourself from the price of the land? ⁴ While it remained unsold, did it not remain yours? And after it was sold, was it not in your control? Why have you purposed this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God." ⁵ Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and died. And great fear came upon all those hearing these things. ⁶ And the young men rose up and covered him up, carried him out, and buried him. ⁷ And it happened about three hours later, that his wife, not knowing what had happened, came in. ⁸ And Peter answered her, "Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?" She said, "Yes, for so much." ⁹ Then Peter said to her, "Why is it that it was agreed by you to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they shall carry you out." ¹⁰ Then immediately she fell down beside his feet and died. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her with her husband. ¹¹ And great fear came to be on all the church and upon all those who were hearing these things.

²⁰ But Peter said to him, "Your money perish with you, because you thought to acquire the gift of God through money! ²¹ You have neither part nor portion in this word, for your heart is not straight before God. ²² Repent therefore from this your wickedness, and make petition to God, if perhaps the intent of your heart will be forgiven you. ²³ For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and the bond of unrighteousness."

¹⁹ Now we know that as many things as the law says, it speaks to those under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

⁵ So then judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who also will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make clear the purposes of the hearts. Then each one's praise shall come from God.

¹¹ knowing that such a person has been perverted and is sinning, being self-condemned.
