¹⁹ Then Joseph her husband, being righteous and not wanting to make her a public example, purposed to put her away secretly.

^{9 (6:10)} And these are the generations of Noah. Noah was a just man; being perfect in his generation; Noah was well pleasing to God.

²⁴ And it came to pass after three months, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar your daughter-in-law has grievously played the harlot, and behold she is with child by harlotry; and Judah said, Bring her out, and let her be burned.

²⁰ And if anyone should lie carnally with a woman, and she should be a home-servant kept for a man, and she has not been ransomed, and her freedom has not been given to her, they shall be visited with punishment; but they shall not die, because she was not set at liberty.

¹⁰ Whatever man shall commit adultery with the wife of a man, or whoever shall commit adultery with the wife of his neighbor, let them die the death, the adulterer and the adulteress.

²¹ then shall they bring out the young woman to the doors of her father's house, and shall stone her with stones, and she shall die; because she has wrought folly among the children of Israel, to defile the house of her father by harlotry: so you shall remove the evil one from among you. ²² And if a man be found lying with a woman married to a man, you shall kill them both, the man that lay with the woman, and the woman; so shall you remove the wicked one out of Israel. ²³ And if there be a young woman espoused to a man, and a man should have found her in the city and have lain with her; ²⁴ you shall bring them both out to the gate of their city, and they shall be stoned with stones, and they shall die; the young woman, because she cried not in the city; and the man, because he humbled his neighbor's spouse: so shall you remove the evil one from yourselves.

¹ And if anyone should take a wife, and should dwell with her, then it shall come to pass if she should not have found favor before him, because he has found some unbecoming thing in her, that he shall write for her a certificate of divorce, and give it into her hands, and he shall send her away out of his house. ² And if she should go away and be married to another man; ³ and the last husband should hate her, and write for her a certificate of divorce, and should give it into her hands, and send her away out of his house, and the last husband should die, who took her to himself for a wife; ⁴ the former husband who sent her away shall not be able to return and take her to himself for a wife, after she has been defiled; because it is an abomination before the Lord your God, and you shall not defile the land which the Lord your God gives you to inherit.

⁴ To the upright light has sprung up in darkness; he is pitiful, and merciful, and righteous. ⁵ The good man is he that pities and lends; he will direct his affairs with judgment.

²⁰ for Herod was afraid of John, knowing that he was a just and holy man, and he was protecting him. And when he heard him, he did many things, but he would hear him gladly.

⁴ They said, "Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to put her away."

²⁵ And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

⁴ they said to Him, "Teacher, we found this woman committing adultery, in the very act. ⁵ Now Moses, in our law, commanded to cast stones at such. Therefore what do You say?"

²² And they said, "Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and fearing God, having a good reputation among all the nation of the Jews, was given a revelation by a holy angel to send for you to his house, and to hear words from you."
