For this Man works many signs. ⁴⁸ If we leave Him alone in this way, all will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and will take away both our place and our nation." ⁴⁹ But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, "You don't know anything, ⁵⁰ nor do you consider that it is advantageous for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish." ⁵¹ Now this he did not say on his own, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was about to die for the nation, ⁵² and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad. ⁵³ Therefore from that day on they took counsel together, that they might kill Him.

¹⁰ But the chief priests took counsel, that they might also kill Lazarus, ¹¹ because on account of him many of the Jews were going away, and were believing in Jesus.

⁸ And he entered into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, debating and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.

²⁸ And Agrippa said to Paul, "In a short time, you are persuading me to become a Christian!"

²³ And having appointed for him a day, many came to him at his house, to whom he was explaining and solemnly testifying to the kingdom of God, and persuading them of the things concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and from the Prophets, from morning till evening.

³ But even if our gospel is hidden, it is hidden among those who are perishing,

¹¹ Knowing, therefore, the fear of the Lord, we persuade men; but we have been made known to God. And I also hope to have been made known in your consciences.
