¹⁴ But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the crowd, "There are six days in which one should work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day."

⁹ Six days you shall labor, and do all your work.

¹² Six days shall you do your works, and on the seventh day there shall be rest, that your ox and your donkey may rest, and that the son of your maidservant and the stranger may be refreshed.

³ Six days shall you do work, but on the seventh day is the Sabbath; a rest, a holy convocation to the Lord: you shall not do any work, it is a Sabbath to the Lord in all your dwellings.

¹² And I gave them My Sabbaths, that they should be for a sign between Me and them, that they should know that I am the Lord that sanctifies them.

² But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him, "Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath!"

¹⁰ And behold, there was a man who had a withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"--that they might accuse Him. ¹¹ Then He said to them, "What man is there among you who shall have one sheep, and if it should fall into a ditch on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out? ¹² By how much then is a man worth more than a sheep! So then it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath."

² And they were observing Him, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him. ³ And He said to the one who had the withered hand, "Step forward." ⁴ Then He said to them, "Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?" But they kept silent. ⁵ And looking around at them with anger, being grieved at the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other. ⁶ Then the Pharisees went out with the Herodians and immediately conspired against Him, how they might destroy Him.

²² And behold, there came one of the rulers of the synagogue, named Jairus. And seeing Him, he fell at His feet

⁷ And the scribes and Pharisees were observing if whether He would heal on the Sabbath, that they might find an accusation against Him.

¹¹ But they were filled with fury, and they were discussing with one another what they might do to Jesus.

⁴¹ And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a leader of the synagogue. And falling at the feet of Jesus, he was imploring Him to enter into his house,

³ And Jesus, answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?" ⁴ But they were silent. And taking hold of him, He healed him, and let him go. ⁵ Then He answered them, saying, "Which of you, having a son or an ox that has fallen into a pit, will not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day?" ⁶ And they were not able to answer Him regarding these things.

¹⁵ The man went away and reported to the Jews that Jesus was the One who had made him well. ¹⁶ And on account of this the Jews began to persecute Jesus, and were seeking to kill Him, because He was doing these things on the Sabbath.

¹⁴ Now it was a Sabbath when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes. ¹⁵ Then again the Pharisees were asking him how he received his sight. And he said to them, "He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see." ¹⁶ Therefore some of the Pharisees were saying, "This Man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath." Others said, "How can a sinful man do such signs?" And there was a division among them.

¹⁵ Now after the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the synagogue leaders sent to them, saying, "Men and brothers, if there is by you a word of encouragement for the people, speak."

⁸ And Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together with all his household. And many of the Corinthians, hearing, were believing and were being baptized.

¹⁷ Then all the Greeks, taking hold of Sosthenes the ruler of the synagogue, were beating him before the judgment seat. And none of these things was a concern to Gallio.

² For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
