² Lift up your eyes and look straight ahead, and see where you have not been utterly defiled. You have sat for them by the wayside as a deserted crow, and have defiled the land with your fornications and your wickedness.

¹⁴ And having taken off the garments of her widowhood from her, she put on a veil, and ornamented her face, and sat by the gates of Aenan, which is in the way to Timna, for she saw that Shelah was grown; but she was not given to him as a wife.

² You shall utterly destroy all the places in which they served their gods, whose land you inherit, on the high mountains and on the hills, and under the thick tree.

³ And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines. And the strange women turned away his heart after their gods.

¹³ And the king defiled the house that was before Jerusalem, on the right hand of the Mount of Mosthath, which Solomon king of Israel built to Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, and to Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and to Molech the abomination of the children of Ammon.

¹¹ And she is fickle and rebellious, and her feet abide not at home.

²⁸ For such a one shall perish suddenly, and every transgressor shall be cut off.

⁷ And I brought you to Carmel, that you should eat the fruits thereof, and the goods thereof; and you went in, and defiled My land, and made My heritage an abomination.

²⁰ For of old you have broken your yoke, and plucked asunder your bands; and you have said, I will not serve You, but will go upon every high hill, and under every shady tree, there will I indulge in my fornication.

²³ How will you say, I am not polluted, and have not gone after Baal? Behold your ways in the burial ground, and know what you have done: her voice has howled in the evening;

¹ If a man put away his wife, and she depart from him, and become another man's, shall she return to him anymore? Shall not that woman be utterly defiled? But you have played the harlot with many shepherds, and have returned to Me, says the Lord.

⁹ And her fornication was nothing accounted of; and she committed adultery with wood and stone.

²¹ A voice from the lips was heard, even of weeping and supplication of the children of Israel; for they have dealt unrighteously in their ways, they have forgotten God, their Holy One.

²⁹ Cut off your hair, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on your lips; for the Lord has reprobated and rejected the generation that does these things.

⁴ And behold, the glory of the Lord God of Israel was there, according to the vision which I saw in the plain. ⁵ And He said to me, Son of man, lift up your eyes toward the north. So I lifted up my eyes toward the north, and behold, I looked from the north toward the eastern gate. ⁶ And He said to me, Son of man, have you seen what these people do? They commit great abominations here, so that I should keep away from My sanctuary; and you shall see even greater iniquities.

¹⁶ And you took of your garments, and made for yourself idols of needlework, and went a-whoring after them; therefore you shall never come in, nor shall the like take place.

²⁴ that you built yourself a house of fornication, and made a public place for yourself in every street; ²⁵ and on the head of every road you set up your fornications, and defiled your beauty, and opened your feet to every passer by, and multiplied your fornication.

²⁸ Whereas I brought them into the land concerning which I lifted up My hand to give it to them; and they looked upon every high hill, and every shady tree, and they sacrificed there to their gods, and offered there sweet-smelling savors, and there they poured out their drink offerings.

²³ And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham from afar, and Lazarus in his bosom.
