¹⁵ for I sent them not, says the Lord; and they prophesy in My name unjustly, that I might destroy you, and you should perish, and your prophets, who unrighteously prophesy lies to you.

¹⁷ And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, See, did I not say to you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil? ¹⁸ But he said, Not so. Hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven stood by on His right hand and on His left. ¹⁹ And the Lord said, Who will deceive Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up, and fall in Ramoth Gilead? And one spoke this way, and another spoke that way. ²⁰ And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said, I will deceive him. And the Lord said, How? ²¹ And he said, I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the Lord said, You shall deceive him, and shall prevail: go forth, and do so. ²² And now, behold, the Lord has put a false spirit in the mouth of these your prophets, and the Lord has spoken evil against you.

¹⁶ And it came to pass when the prophet was speaking to him, that he said to him, Have I made you the king's counselor? Take heed lest you be scourged! And the prophet became silent, and said, I know that God is disposed against you to destroy you, because you have done this thing, and have not hearkened to my counsel.

¹³ For from the least of them even to the greatest they have all committed iniquity; from the priest even to the false prophet they have all dealt falsely. ¹⁴ And they healed the breach of My people imperfectly, making light of it, and saying, Peace, peace, and where is peace? ¹⁵ They were ashamed because they failed; yet they were not ashamed as those who were truly ashamed, and they knew not their own disgrace; therefore shall they utterly fall when they do fall, and in the time of visitation shall they perish, says the Lord.

¹⁵ Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the prophets that prophesy lies in My name, and I sent them not, who say, Sword and famine shall not be upon this land; they shall die by a grievous death, and the prophets shall be consumed by famine. ¹⁶ And the people to whom they prophesy, they also shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem, because of the sword and famine; and there shall be none to bury them. Their wives also, and their sons, and their daughters shall die thus; and I will pour out their wickedness upon them.

⁶ And you and all who live in your house shall go into captivity, and you shall die in Babylon, and there you and all your friends shall be buried, to whom you have prophesied lies.

¹⁵ Therefore thus says the Lord: Behold, I will feed them with pain, and give them bitter water to drink; for from the prophets of Jerusalem has defilement gone forth into all the land.

²¹ I sent not the prophets, yet they ran: neither did I speak to them, yet they prophesied.

¹⁰ for they prophesy lies to you, to remove you far from your land.

¹⁶ Therefore thus said the Lord: Behold, I will cast you off from the face of the earth — this year you shall die! ¹⁷ So he died in the seventh month.

⁹ For they prophesy to you unrighteous words in My name; and I sent them not.

²² And they shall make of them a curse in all the captivity of Judah in Babylon, saying, The Lord do to you as He did to Zedekiah, and as He did to Ahab, whom the king of Babylon fried in the fire; ²³ because of the iniquity which they wrought in Israel, and because they committed adultery with the wives of their fellow citizens, and spoke a word in My name, which I did not command them to speak, and I am witness, says the Lord.

³¹ Send to the captivity, saying, Thus says the Lord concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Since Shemaiah has prophesied to you, and I sent him not, and he has made you to trust in iniquity, ³² therefore thus says the Lord: Behold, I will visit Shemaiah and his family; and there shall not be a man of them in the midst of you to see the good which I will do for My people; they shall not see it.

³ Son of man, these men have conceived their devices in their hearts, and have set before their faces the punishment of their iniquities: shall I indeed answer them? ⁴ Therefore speak to them, and you shall say to them, Thus says the Lord: Any man of the house of Israel, who shall conceive his devices in his heart, and shall set the punishment of his iniquity before his face, and shall come to the prophet; I the Lord will answer him according to the things in which his mind is entangled, ⁵ that he should turn aside the house of Israel, according to their hearts that are estranged from Me in their thoughts. ⁶ Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Be converted, and turn from your evil practices, and from all your sins, and turn your faces back again. ⁷ For any man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, who shall separate himself from Me, and conceive his imaginations in his heart, and set before his face the punishment of his iniquity, and come to the prophet to inquire of him concerning Me; I the Lord will answer him, according to the things in which he is entangled. ⁸ And I will set My face against that man, and will make him desolate and ruined, and will cut him off from the midst of My people; and you shall know that I am the Lord. ⁹ And if a prophet should cause to err and should speak, I the Lord have caused that prophet to err, and I will stretch out My hand upon him, and will utterly destroy him from the midst of My people Israel. ¹⁰ And they shall bear their iniquity according to the trespass of him that asks; and it shall be in like manner to the prophet according to the trespass,

⁵ Thus says the Lord concerning the prophets that lead My people astray, that bite with their teeth, and proclaim peace to them; and when nothing was put into their mouth, they raised up war against them: ⁶ therefore there shall be night to you instead of a vision, and there shall be to you darkness instead of prophecy; and the sun shall go down upon the prophets, and the day shall be dark upon them. ⁷ And the seers of night visions shall be ashamed, and the prophets shall be laughed to scorn: and all the people shall speak against them, because there shall be none to listen to them.

¹⁴ Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. And if the blind guides the blind, both will fall into a ditch."

²⁴ For false christs and false prophets will be raised up, and they will show great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

⁹ whose coming is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, ¹⁰ and in all deception of unrighteousness among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And because of this, God will send them strong delusion, in order for them to believe the lie, ¹² so that they all might be damned who did not believe the truth, but delighted in unrighteousness.

¹⁷ And their word will spread like gangrene; of whom are Hymenaeus and Philetus, ¹⁸ who have strayed concerning the truth, asserting that the resurrection has already occurred; and they overturn the faith of some. ¹⁹ Nevertheless the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those that are His," and, "Let everyone naming the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness."

³ For there will be a time when they will not put up with sound doctrine, but according to their own lusts, they will heap up for themselves teachers, tickling their ears, ⁴ and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to myths.

⁷ And it was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, people, language, and nation. ⁸ And all those who dwell on the earth shall worship him, whose name is not written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

¹² And he exercises all the authority of the first beast before him, and he causes the earth and those who dwell in it, to worship the first Beast, whose deadly wound was healed. ¹³ And he works great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth before men. ¹⁴ And he deceives my own people who dwell on the earth by the signs which were given to him to do before the Beast, saying to those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who had the wound--and came to life! -from the sword.

²⁰ Then the Beast was apprehended, and with him the False Prophet who had performed the signs before him, by which he had deceived those who received the mark of the Beast and those who worshipped his image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.
