³⁶ But they that sin against me act wickedly against their own souls, and they that hate me love death.

⁹ And I will cause them to be dispersed into all the kingdoms of the earth, and they shall be for a reproach, and a proverb, and an object of hatred, and a curse, in every place where I have driven them out.

⁸ And the nation and kingdom, all that shall not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, with sword and famine will I visit them, says the Lord, until they are consumed by his hand.

² Thus says the Lord: He that remains in this city shall die by the sword, and by famine. But he that goes out to the Chaldeans shall live; and his life shall be to him as a found treasure, and he shall live.

²⁰ And Jeremiah said, They shall in no wise deliver you up. Hear the word of the Lord which I speak to you; and it shall be well with you, and your soul shall live.

²¹ Thus says the Lord: And if I even send upon Jerusalem My four severe judgments — the sword, famine, evil beasts, and pestilence, to destroy from out of it both man and beast;

²⁴ But when the righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, according to all the transgressions which the transgressor has done, none of his righteousness which he has wrought shall be at all remembered; in his trespass in which he has trespassed, and in his sins in which he has sinned, in them shall he die.

³¹ Cast away from yourselves all your ungodliness in which you have sinned against Me; and make to yourselves a new heart and a new spirit: for why should you die, O house of Israel?

¹¹ Say to them, Thus says the Lord: As I live, I desire not the death of the ungodly, as that the ungodly should turn from his way and live: turn heartily from your way; for why will you die, O house of Israel?
